273 Chapter 273- Sticky
273: Chapter 273- Sticky 273: Chapter 273- Sticky Chapter 273- Sticky The umbrella moved down at lightning speed, aiming for Mikayla’s heart.
The old man watched silently as the hand of judgment was coming down on him mercilessly.
He didn’t feel fear, nor happiness.
Something about his life made him smile while other things made him frown and want to curse himself.
He had seen too much and experienced too much to even know where to look if he wanted to remember the key points of his life.
Perhaps his fondest memories were the ones with the woman that he made his wife or perhaps it was when he found Kaya in that burnt orphanage.
Those were the best things he ever did.
Granted, he ruined one of them beyond repair and barely could keep the other intact, but he still felt at peace that he met his wife and foster daughter and was able to love them and cherish them as much as his ignorant self could.
‘Thank you for everything, Kaya.
You gave me the opportunity to be a father figure.
You will always be my beautiful daughter.’ He thought to himself.
The image of his little Kaya running around happily as he watched her from afar was still vivid in his head.
After losing his wife, Mikayla was in dire need for someone that could fill the void his dear wife left in his heart.
However, he wasn’t getting along with his one and only son so when he heard about the burning Orphanage in a nearby village, he decided to pay it a visit and see for himself if he could save any of the kids there.
A part of him simply wanted to do something good for the world to make him feel better about himself while another part was just seeking something that would give him a purpose in life that he truly wanted.
Something far more important than his ambitions with Divinity… Something more valuable to him.
When he reached the location of the incident, he found everyone had already left the place.
He kept asking the people there if there was anyone left inside and they told him that the woman who took care of the kids along with another little girl were still stuck inside.
So, he immediately rushed inside to save the two of them.
However, by the time he reached them, the woman had already died while the little girl was crying profusely as she ran toward the exit.
So, he picked her up and quickly rushed outside.
His face was dark as a huge frown colored his features.
He went there to save them, and yet he ended up leaving the woman dying because he didn’t arrive fast enough.
‘Fuck!
Fuck!!’ Cursing inwardly, Mikayla put the girl down and stood there, watching the flames rise and the wooden building crumbling into ashes.
He was at an all time low.
Everything was going south on all fronts of his life and he didn’t know how to even begin to fix it.
A great man like him, a general in the military and a possessor of the greatest power in the world and yet he can’t face his own life and fix it… How pathetic was he?
How mentally weak was he to not even deal with this?
‘No, to hell with that!
I won’t let myself crumble because of this!
I won’t allow it!’ Feeling his heart burning and his head filled with countless chaotic thoughts, he turned around and looked at Kaya.
“Listen here, kid.
Are you feeling lost?” He asked with a serious look.
The little girl’s tears stopped for a second as she looked up at him.
Her eyes were filled with deep sorrow and endless sadness.
“…
Yes… It hurts so much… Even though I’m not injured…” She murmured as she continued crying silently.
“Do you want to never feel like this ever again?” “Yes!” “Then, let me help you.
I will make sure you will never see someone you love die again.” He replied as he extended his hand for Kaya.
The girl looked at the hand with confusion for a few moments before she slowly extended hers to touch Mikayla’s finger.
“Please… Help me…” *** As those memories flashed in his head, Mikayla felt the umbrella finally making contact with his skin as it pierced it and dived deeper into his body.
The pain was minimal and the numbness filled his senses.
The edge of the weapon made its way till it was about to pierce his heart.
That’s when it happened.
Suddenly, something flashed across Mikayla’s eyes for a split second.
Then, out of nowhere, the mysterious man was blasted away powerfully as he smashed through the wall and continued flying away, destroying multiple buildings in the process.
Rubble and debris fell down as loud noises echoed in the whole city.
The old man couldn’t even process what just happened before he heard a cold sound.
“Are you ok, Mr Raullot?” Hearing that familiar voice, Mikayla’s eyes flashed with a hint of understanding as he finally understood who it was.
“The Black Phantom… What… Are you doing here?” He asked weakly as blood churned out of his body.
“I’m here to save you.” Kai replied as he approached Mikayla and checked his condition.
‘The umbrella almost pierced his heart if I didn’t come at the right time.’ He thought to himself as he touched Mikayla and stopped his bleeding.
However, as he was about to heal him, he suddenly felt a presence approaching him at top speed.
So, Kai quickly side stepped, avoiding a powerful attack that sent a huge shockwave across the area.
“I guess calling you a monster was never an understatement, was it?” The mysterious man appeared in front of Kai with a small smile on his face.
“Just a kick and you broke one of my ribs as if it was nothing and then you avoided that attack without even looking.
You’re far above any other level I have ever seen.” “Who are you?” Kai asked with a cold tone as he turned to stare at the man.
In all his life, Kai had never met this person or heard of him.
However, he knew one thing about him and that he was very strong.
‘No wonder he’s one of only two Seraphims.’ He thought to himself.
“No point in introducing each other, is there?
We’re about to fight to death.
Probably destroy this whole city because of it and then one of us will emerge a winner.
Kai’s face, which was hidden behind the mask, analyzed the situation silently.
Fighting this man will take some of his time which is something he can’t afford to do.
‘I jumped earlier from the jet when I felt Mikayla’s presence.
She should be here any moment.
I need to hide Mikayla.’ The situation was rather sticky for Kai.
On one hand, he had an injured Mikayla he needed to protect and on the other hand he had two of the strongest Origin users in the world about to fight him to death.
Kai didn’t mind fighting the two at the same time.
But, he knew it would be way harder if he had to also keep the old man in mind.
Whatever decision he will take is going to determine how this encounter will end.
Whether with a tragedy or success.
