Chapter 269 DON'T UNLOCK THIS CHAPTER
269: DON’T UNLOCK THIS CHAPTER 269: DON’T UNLOCK THIS CHAPTER “I can eat myself, Merki.” “No!
Your arms are brutally wounded.
You can’t eat alone.
Just open your mouth.” “I’m not a kid though.” “You’re still a kid.
Open your mouth now!” Merki retorted as she pushed the spoon toward his mouth.
‘I’m literally at least 4 times your age goddammit!’ He yelled in his head.
The feeling of embarrassment of getting fed by a kid was just too much for him.
In his lifetime, Arthur sustained way worse injuries than this and he still could deal with it alone.
Being spoiled like this for these technically minimal injuries was just foreign to him.
As they were arguing like that, the door to the room opened before three heads peeked slowly.
Merki and Arthur looked back only to see the other boys there, watching them with hesitant curiosity.
“You woke up, Art?” Mino asked curiously as he kicked the door open with a wide smile.
“Thank god you’re ok, dude.
You scared the living hell out of us.
“Yeah, I’ve never seen you that injured before.” Lith said with a frown.
“W-We heard Merki yelling so we thought that something bad happened.” Sith worriedly added.
“I’m fine everyone, thanks for asking.
As you can see, I’m like usual.” “….” (x3) The three of them and even Merki stared at him before they shook their heads.
‘He’s definitely not ok.’ They all thought at the same time.
“Anyway, eat or I will have to ask them to pin you down before shoving it down your throat.
Your choice.” “Ok, ok, relax, geez.” “Nice, now say Aaaah!” Merki said as she approached the spoon from his mouth.
Arthur sighed before he started receiving the food.
Meanwhile, the trio watched the sight as they snickered.
“Even Art can’t beat Merki when it comes to words.” Mino whispered.
“W-Who can?” “I pity him.” “I can hear you, guys.” Arthur replied from the bed as he received another spoonful of food.
“Shit, ah well, you can’t hide it now, can you?” Mino shrugged as he stepped forward and sat on the bed.
“Was the fight with those gang members yesterday that brutal?” “You knew?” Merki asked.
“No, but from what I have seen, that is the only plausible explanation.” “Very smart, dear Mino.
Yeah, that’s exactly what happened and I gave them a taste of the nightmare.
Ouch!
Ouch!” “Focus on the food and then you can speak.” “Damn, how did you beat them?” Lith asked with a curious gaze.
“Hahaha, a clever plan and a lot of luck.
Also, there was another reason.” “Another reason?” Mino raised an eyebrow.
“The same reason why I was absent the whole day yesterday and only came back late at night.” Hearing his words, everyone went silent, even Merki.
“Basically, I awakened.” Arthur grinned.
“…” “Now, now, before you all go crazy and start praising me, you gotta understand that I’m barely any different than before awakening.” “…” Pure silence.
“Awakening and becoming a Ranker are two different things.” “Art… You…” Mino was the first to speak as he raised his finger to point it at Arthur.
“What?” “Y-You awakened?!
Like, the awakening of those guys that are popular?!” Sith asked with two excited eyes asking the question Mino was about to pose.
“Yeah, pretty much.” “What in the world… When?!
How?!
Why?!” Merki added after Sith as she got closer from Arthur.
“It’s a long story.
But I basically found the means to awaken and I’m going to make all of you awaken too.” “For real?!” Mino asked.
“Yeah, I keep my word after all.
Besides, you all should be able to become awakeners as long as you have the talent for it.” “What if we don’t?” Lith asked.
“Then, sorry to say, I can’t do much to help.
This isn’t within my ability to change.” “*Gulp*” Sith gulped down a mouthful of saliva nervously.
Everyone felt the seriousness in Arthur’s words.
They have already heard about Rankers and how they’re the chosen ones so they had a rough idea on how hard it is to become a Ranker.
“Well, what’s the method?” Merki inquired.
“I can only show you.
Can you help me stand up, Merki?” He asked.
“What?
Where are you going?” “I’m just going to get the things I need.” “But you’re still inju-” “Oh, I’m just going to pick some things and be back in a few moments, it’s nothing big.” He said as he extended his hand for Merki.
The girl blinked before she helped him up with a sigh.
She couldn’t hold back her curiosity from knowing what Arthur was intending to do.
*Crack* “Ugh, this feels nice.” Stretching his body, Arthur smiled.
“I don’t want to even know how you can handle all that pain easily, monster.” Mino said sarcastically.
“That’s the perk of being a monster.” Winking at his friend, Arthur walked out of the room.
“Stay here~” When the door closed, the four kids stared at each other with confusion as they waited for Arthur to come back.
A minute later, the door to the room was knocked so Mino walked toward it and opened it.
Arthur walked inside carrying in his hands the Mana Stones as he threw them on the bed before he turned around to his confused friends.
“These are called Mana Stones and by absorbing the Mana inside of them, you get a chance to awaken.” “These?” Merki curiously approached the stones and picked one of them to check it.
“Yeah.
They’re quite rare so be careful not to break one by mistake.” The kids started inspecting the stones curiously.
Their eyes were filled with awe at what they were seeing.
After all, this was the first time they see these stones with their own eyes.
“Wow!
This is amazing, Arthur!
Where did you find them?” “It’s a secret~ Now, everyone, sit down on the ground so that we can start immediately.” The kids nodded their heads and did what he asked.
After that, he handed each one of them a stone before he sat down in front of them and started instructing them on how to actually absorb the Mana within the stone in as much detail as he could.
The process in itself was quite complicated so he had to keep adjusting his words to fit their understanding.
In a matter of minutes, the kids had their eyes closed and their entire focus put on the stones in their hands.
Meanwhile, Arthur watched attentively as he waited for the process to start.
Although his face looked normal, his mind was rather in shambles since he knew that this was one of the most crucial moments in his entire plan.
‘Please, I need you all to awaken.
Please…’ He thought to himself as he tried to calm down his beating heart.
However, no matter how much he tried, he kept feeling the fear and anxiety in his head.
They were all, after all, his friends and family.
If they don’t awaken, their lives will be in serious threat.
The moment of truth.
