Chapter 1435: The Secret Of Being A Transcendent
Chapter 1435: The Secret Of Being A Transcendent
"And being a Transcendent is not as easy as one might make it. The gap is limitlessly wide and churning, at the same time, it almost does not exist at all. Simply because transcendence is about defiance."
He continued with a lazy tone.
"Now, if I was never under the law of a Transcendent then it would have been well, not easy, incredibly hard because then my defiance is undefined, I would have to search the whole of my True Name, and soul for what defiance means for me. But you see, being under the Law of a Transcendent surprisingly closes that gap!"
Northern continued to stare at the Prince, listening to him.
While Prince Reis sounded like he was lamenting.
"You see, dear brother, so long we remain beneath our father, we will never become Transcendent. Unless he dies of course. If he dies, I bet I will easily become Transcendent."
He leaned forward, stabbing into Northern with the straight look in his eyes.
"So what do you say? Want to kill father with me? He is a very bad man too, you know? He wants to eat you."
Northern frowned.
"Eat me?"
He leaned back into his chair and folded his arms and legs again.
"How do I say this... you know father has been bent on finding our counterpart, they say we descend from an ancient race of humans that existed since the beginning of the world, blessed with a unique body and strength. While our counterparts are blessed with a unique mind and eyes."
He breathed and casually continued.
"Father has been searching for a way to mix the unique body with the unique mind. He believes it will form a body, mind and soul unification that will make it easier to become Divinity. He even believed that another race entirely could emerge from it."
The prince laughed.
"Well, Father was not the only one that had believed such absurd hypothesis. There are several Emperors, who had the same orientation, and father merely built on it."
All of this was no news to Northern. He knew the Emperor married his mother because he was looking for a way to bring the Reikis, the children of strength and the Beija, the children of the soul, the unique tribes of Nakharis during the existence of the Mourgens, the first humans.
’But what is this about eating?’
Prince Reis gave him a small smile and dropped his voice.
"Who knows, the people that were trying to kill you might have just been trying to stop father from getting what he wants. They may have been extremists, hidden within our family."
Northern stared at the Prince for a long moment.
He wasn’t so stupid not to take every word of his with a grain of salt.
Right now, Prince Reis was only spitting words that pitted Northern against his father. And that served his purpose pretty well. Although Northern using all the disposable sources to find out if the Prince was lying could not tell that he was lying.
Even though he was inclined to believe that his half brother was telling the truth. This was a damn Luminary, he definitely had to be good at lying that his lies simply became truth.
Northern inhaled deeply before meeting the man’s eyes.
"You’re saying that because you want me to know, or because you want me to help you kill father?"
Prince Reis kept a small, warm smile.
"It serves your interest. That man... you won’t miss not having him as a father."
Northern was silent now, thinking.
’Should I kill my father? The thought of it leaves a bad taste in my mouth though. But I also can’t let go of this opportunity.’
Northern raised his gaze.
"So tell me, brother... what is the unification about? Why is the Empire trying to conquer the entire continent?"
Prince Reis’s hand was on the couch, and he was looking around the dark room before bringing his eyes back to Northern.
"Did you solidify the shadows to make this place? Stars, I almost can’t see anything!"
He saw the look on Northern’s face and immediately got serious.
"Ah, right. Well, I think I mentioned it in passing? That is the only way for father to become a Zenith. Being a Zenith is practically impossible. Two Zeniths cannot exist at a time. In fact, none had ever existed before. But Father wants to change things, especially since we all know that our world is doomed to fall."
Northern narrowed his eyes slightly, sensing that there was more.
The Prince sighed in defeat.
"There are currently three Transcendents in Tra-el. The North has one, and the East has one. There’s been an ongoing war because they’re all trying to become Zenith. Right now, the war is silent, and the Empire has been at war with the East for the longest of time. The North has been somewhat reclusive in all of this. We don’t know why. But the Empire against the East continent is a tasking battle no matter how mighty we are."
Northern was getting the full picture now.
"So the Empire wants to absorb the rest of the continent so easily now that they’re weak. So he can increase his military strength."
Prince Reis raised a finger.
"Not just his military strength, brother. Increase in number means increase in power for all under his Truth Embodiment."
Northern tilted his head slightly.
Prince Reis smiled cunningly.
"See, brother, there’s so much you don’t know. Have you been living in a cave? When last did you even enter a rift?"
Northern cleared his throat, shooting the man a glare.
He took a moment to respond.
"You’re trying to kill a father in the midst of a war, won’t that cause the Central Plains to lose the war?"
Prince Reis let out a ludicrous laugh.
"Brother, who do you think I am? The first thing I will do once I become Transcendent is wipe out the North. Then... I will take the power of the North and descend on the East. It will take a while, but I will become the peak of humanity faster than father. He’s been at it thirty years and still not successful."
He sighed, and looked at Northern warmly.
"So... will you join me? Let’s drag that rotten man off his throne together."

[Author’s Note]
It’s been a while. This novel has been so freaking inconsistent that I know several people are enraged. But you can’t blame me. Life has not been smooth, mainly because when this was my source of income, I could put my all into it. But the novel dropped on the rankings, no features, no income, and this relatively became harder for me. I had to look for a job to sustain myself and could not be a full time writer.
My stubbornness and promise to readers make it impossible to drop the book. I still always come back to it. But perhaps, things will get better when the new book does well and helps me raise my income.
I’m sorry and thank you.
