Chapter 3891 - 3879: Tall Tales
Chapter 3891: Chapter 3879: Tall Tales
"What’s up?"
"You’ll know once Sister Li is here."
"I’ll go get her, you freshen up and eat something first."
"Alright."
Ma Jun took out his phone and called Zhou Li while also opening the door to his room.
A few minutes later, Zhou Li opened the door and walked in.
"Why’d you call me over?"
"Got something interesting to show you."
Lin Yi took out the portable camera, "Take a look at what’s inside."
Ma Jun operated the camera, found the video Lin Yi shot last night, and Zhou Li leaned in to watch the contents.
"Ugh~~~"
Midway through watching, Zhou Li started gagging.
"Sister Li, take it easy, you almost puked in my bowl," Lin Yi teased.
"That’s just disgusting, I can’t believe that’s how they make pickled vegetables."
"And it doesn’t stop there, even instant noodles on the market use these pickles. Have you guys eaten them before?"
"Damn! Stop it already," Ma Jun started feeling nauseous too, "I ate some just a few days ago."
Lin Yi chuckled and continued eating his food.
For him, this kind of thing wasn’t a big deal. Even if there was a corpse nearby, he’d still manage to eat.
"Where did you get this video footage?" Zhou Li asked.
"Went to the factory last night, secretly filmed it."
"What? How’d you get in?"
"Found a secluded spot, snuck in to film it. Given their security, there’s no way to shoot normally."
"You’re crazy!"
Zhou Li raised her voice, "Didn’t I tell you to be careful? If they catch you, it wouldn’t end well."
Ma Jun put the camera aside, lit a cigarette, and said:
"Lin Yi, you’re still young, you don’t know how vicious these people can be. If they find you, breaking your legs would be the least of it."
"I know, but I’m quite confident about this sort of thing, don’t worry."
"It’s not just about confidence; it’s better safe than sorry. If they do catch you, it’ll be trouble."
"No worry, it’s all minor stuff," Lin Yi said with a smile:
"Now that the undercover footage is settled, we can proceed with the formal interview."
"I’ve planned out the details and process."
Zhou Li handed her phone to Lin Yi, "Here’s the process, familiarize yourself with it. If all’s good, we can head over once you finish your meal."
Lin Yi ate while reviewing and found no issues with the process, so he sped up eating and then the three headed out together.
They arrived at Fuxin Food Factory, parked the car, and approached the main gate with their equipment.
"What are you guys doing here?"
The security guard, noticing their gear and demeanor, was visibly tense, clearly recognizing them as TV journalists yet instinctively asked.
Lin Yi smiled warmly, trying to appear harmless.
"I’m a TV journalist looking to interview your factory."
The guard scrutinized the trio, unsure of their intent.
If it was for positive publicity, he couldn’t stop them, but if it was investigative, he absolutely couldn’t let them in.
"Wait here, I’ll go check with the management."
The guard returned to the post, picked up the desk phone, and dialed the factory leader.
After a brief conversation, he looked back at Lin Yi.
"Do you have an appointment? What aspect are you interviewing?"
"I heard Fuxin Food Factory is the county’s financial pillar, so we want to do an interview."
Upon hearing Lin Yi’s explanation, the guard relayed it word for word, then said:
"Wait here for a bit, our manager will be out shortly."
"Alright, thank you."
Receiving a positive reply, the three stood aside.
"Have you noticed the smell inside the factory seems much less?" Zhou Li whispered.
"I bet the shady stuff happens at night; they’d probably halt operations during the day," Ma Jun speculated.
"When I came last night, the smell was overwhelming. Standing outside, you could still smell it," Lin Yi added:
"Brother Jun may be right; all the bad stuff is done at night."
"These folks sure know how to use their slyness."
They quietly chatted for a bit before seeing a man in a jacket and middle-part hairstyle, jogging toward them.
"Sorry for the wait, I’m Ma Zhiwei, the deputy factory manager."
"Hello."
The trio shook hands with Ma Zhiwei and exchanged pleasantries before proceeding further.
"Are you here for an interview on orders from higher up?" Ma Zhiwei asked:
"I’ve been at the factory for a while now, and hadn’t heard of any interview jobs."
"It hasn’t reached that level yet," Lin Yi laughed:
"Since you’re a food factory, dealing in matters of public interest, we believe quality should be known by more, so constant promotion is needed."
Standing behind, Zhou Li and Ma Jun subtly exchanged glances.
Lin Yi sure knows how to spin a tale.
After watching the footage from last night, they still feel queasy, unable to utter such words.
Ma Zhiwei’s face beamed brightly, lines creasing together.
"You’re absolutely right, journalists. Our products do measure up to those from well-known big factories, but lack promotion. Otherwise, our scale and profitability would rank nationally."
"So we’re here, hoping to contribute a little to the promotion, letting more folks know about our factory and food."
"Thank you so much."
Ma Zhiwei gestured invitingly, "Let me show you around the factory."
"Sure, thank you."
The trio followed Ma Zhiwei into the factory ground, but he led them into the plant.
The sound of ventilation fans roared.
The plant housed several large vats aligned neatly.
"Here we produce pickled vegetables. Each piece undergoes 18 processes and requires 100 days of fermentation before leaving the factory; even a day less is unacceptable. Quality is our focus," Ma Zhiwei said earnestly:
"Moreover, our pickles are preservative-free, sealed for freshness, which few companies can achieve."
"That’s truly impressive, there aren’t many earnest enterprises like yours nowadays," Lin Yi feigned amazement.
"Indeed, scarcely any. We pride ourselves on integrity, ensuring citizens aren’t consuming junk, staying true to our conscience."
Zhou Li stood behind, pretending to nod in agreement while internally scoffing.
Utter nonsense!
