After Story – Warm Dining Table

The imperial capital of the Romel Empire has regained peace thanks to the activities of Lexia and the others──the Imperial Palace stands at the center of the city.

Under a clear sky, a lively game of “catch” was being played out.

“Woof! Woof, woof!”

“He’s going that way!”

“Hey, give me back Schleimann-sama’s crown!”

Snow Fang, a sled dog with a crown in his mouth, galloped across the snowy yard like a gale while frantic soldiers chased after him.

Not long ago, Snow Fang had played with Schleimann before he left on a tour of the local town, and in its excitement, Snow Fang snatched Schleimann’s crown and ran away.

“Woof, woof!”

“Hah, hah… I-it’s fast…!”

“Kuh, we don’t have much time before the inspection starts, but…! No one can keep up with that creature…!”

As the soldiers raised their voices, Noel dashed out in Snow Fang’s path.

She roared, holding a trumpet-like magic tool.

“Now it’s your turn, ‘Dissonance Scared-kun No. 1’!”

Noel pulled the trigger, and a strange cacophony of sounds rang out.

“Kyaaaan!?”

“Whoa! What is that sound?”

“Now, return the crown.”

Noel approached the frightened Snow Fang and held out her hand.

Boom!

The ‘Dissonance Scared-kun No. 1’ exploded.

“I-it exploded───!”

“Noel-sama───!?”

“W-woof〜”

While the soldiers are panicking, Snow Fang tries to escape, wobbling in the aftermath of the cacophony.

Then Flora, out of breath, rushed in.

“Hah, hah, I finally caught up with you…! I’ll catch you now; just be quiet for a minute!”

Flora chanted a spell, and the wind swirled softly, gently lifting Snow Fang up.

“Woof?”

“Don’t worry, don’t be afraid.”

Snow Fang floated and moved in front of Flora, then landed on the ground.

“Good boy, good boy. Now, let’s give back the crown and go back to the palace, shall we?”

“Woof!”

As Flora petted him, Snow Fang wagged its tail and handed the crown to Flora.

“A-as expected of Flora-sama, you’ve done an excellent job…!”

“I wonder if a good magician could master such delicate magic in ten years…”

“Noel stopped it in my tracks. I couldn’t have caught it with my magic alone.”

“Y-yes, Noel-sama?”

The soldiers turned to see Noel nonchalantly wiping the soot from her glasses.

“Don’t worry. The explosion is within our expectations.”

“Within your expectations?”

“B-but even so, what the heck is that magic tool…?”

“This is the ‘Dissonance Scared-kun No.1,’ which uses sound to stall opponents. If you maximize the volume, you can even blow away monsters with the sound pressure.”

“T-that’s great…!”

“Also, right now, it’s ‘Dissonance Scared-kun,’ but hopefully it will become ‘Enjoying Music Anywhere-kun,’ which can play any music you want, whenever you want.”

“So, does that mean that with that magic tool, you will be able to enjoy music without any musical instruments…? You are still an amazing person to make such a thing possible. …Although it exploded.”

“Yeah. If that thing becomes popular, villages in the middle of nowhere will no longer be threatened by monsters. It’s really a wonderful talent. …Although it exploded.”

“Failure is the mother of success. After many failures, inspiration will come to you.”

Noel raised her eyebrows while her glasses glinted.

“But the output adjustment doesn’t seem to be working. I can’t figure out how to… increase the energy consumed by the magic ore to increase the output, but that also increases the possibility of a crash…”

Flora, who was listening to this, tilted her head.

“For instance, if the air is made to vibrate, it can be used to create a wide range of voices. Some magic can vibrate the air and diffuse voices over a wide area, but…”

Noel’s eyes lit up, and she took both of Flora’s hands in hers.

“I see, so we don’t have to worry about the internal structure, we just have to interfere with the air itself! As expected of Nee-san! That magic, can you show me as an example?”

“Yes, of course. But first, let’s go home and have lunch, shall we? I think I’ll make stew today.”

Noel’s stomach rumbled in response to the word stew.

“…Come to think of it, I haven’t had anything to eat since this morning because I was so absorbed in the development of my new products, ‘The Girl Who Can Easily Draw a Picture That Comes to Mind-chan No.1’ and ‘The Boy Who Can Warm Cold Dishes to Hotness-Kun No.1.'”

“Fufu, It’s just like Noel; once you’re hooked, you can’t take your eyes off anything else.”

Flora smiled as she handed the soldier the crown.

“Then we will go back to the house. Tell Schleimann-sama to be careful on the way.”

“Ah, y-yes! Thank you very much!”

Noel slid away, and Flora waved her hand smilingly as she left.

“…Noel-sama is usually a very expressionless person, but she seemed to be happy to be with Flora-sama.”

“Yes. Flora-sama is also very lively. After all, the Romel Empire needs the two of them.”

With the crown safely recovered, the soldiers watched the backs of the two walk home in harmony.”

***

Their house is located not far from the imperial palace.

“So, let’s get started on the stew! But first, we need to bake some bread. Hopefully, today will be the day…”

“Wait, Nee-san. I have a secret weapon for you.”

Flora rolled her eyes when she saw the large box Noel had brought out of her room.

“What’s this magic tool?”

“I’ve finally finished it. The name is ‘Soft Bread Baking-chan No.1.’ I’ve been secretly developing it for Nee-san, who is not good at baking bread. If you put the ingredients into this, you can bake soft and fluffy bread in no time.”

“Well, it’s so convenient that all you have to do is put in the ingredients! Thank you, Noel!”

They both put in the ingredients and started the magic tool.

And then──

Zinngggg! Rattle, rattle, rattle! Boom, boom, boom!

“The ‘Soft Bread Baking-chan No. 1’ began to thrash about like a living creature.”

“Kyaaa! A-amazing, it’s like it’s alive! Noel, is this another function of the ‘Soft Bread Baking-chan No.1’?”

“No, we don’t have this feature on…! No way, it’s going out of control!”

“E-eeehhhhhh!?”

The ‘Soft Bread Baking-chan No. 1’ jumped and rolled around and then suddenly jumped at Noel with great force.

“Kyaaa…!”

“Look out, Noel!”

The wind vortex enveloped the magic tool as Flora released her magic, and in an instant, it disintegrated into pieces.

“Aaahh, I’m sorry! You went to the trouble of making it for me, but I broke it…!”

“No, thank you for protecting me. It’s a great thing that you’re able to release such advanced magic on the spur of the moment.”

Noel exclaimed in admiration and began to mumble.

“But it’s strange. Theoretically, it should have worked, but… maybe the material combination was wrong. If that’s the case, we’ll have to rebuild the mechanism and…”

“…Ara? Look, Noel! The bread is baked so deliciously!”

Hearing Flora’s voice, Noel looked at the dining table.

On top of the scattered wreckage of the magic tools, there was a beautifully baked loaf of bread.

“Hmm? I see; the mechanism itself was successful. Then, if I increase the strength of the casing…”

“…Fufu. Fufufu.”

“? What’s wrong?”

“I just thought it was kind of funny that the bread was still baking even though it had gone so haywire.”

Noel’s eyes narrowed at Flora, who smiled innocently.

The next day, the two of them went to the table and put the bread on plates, then made stew and salad.

“Well! This bread is so soft and fluffy! Soft, sweet, and so delicious!”

“I’m so glad. The stew is very good, too. I love your stew.”

“Fufu. Noel eats a lot, so it’s worth making.”

Flora lowered her eyebrows as she ate the bread.

“But it’s too bad you had to go through the trouble of making the ‘Soft Bread Baking-chan No. 1’.”

“Don’t worry. Failure is the mother of success. Now that I have good data, I can make the next one with a higher degree of perfection.”

Flora smiled softly at Noel, who was undaunted.

“Noel is really positive. That’s why you were able to make the Romel Empire rich with magic tools, a feat that no one had ever thought of.”

Noel shook her head.

“No. Actually… I almost fell apart many times. At first, no one understood anything about magic tools, and I made a lot of mistakes. …But, thanks to you, Nee-san, I was able to make it this far.”

“Eh?”

Noel looked at the surprised Flora gently with her ice-blue eyes.

“You always kept on trying, didn’t you, Nee-san? No matter how tired you were, no matter how no one was watching you, you continued to seriously face your magic every day. That’s why I was able to motivate myself with the thought that I shouldn’t lose, that I shouldn’t give up… and that I wanted to be just like Nee-san. I am the person I am today because of you.”

“Noel…”

“And Lexia-san and the others taught me how important it is to stay positive.”

The sisters looked at each other and laughed.

“Lexia-san and the others should be arriving at the Lianxi Empire by now, right?”

“Yes. There are hot springs in the Lianxi Empire, so they are probably all relaxing right now.”

“Fufu, that’s right. I’m looking forward to seeing them again.”

Noel and Flora thought about Lexia and the others, who were probably far away under the sky, as they ate the fluffy bread and warm stew.

Afterword

Hello, my name is Ryo Kotohira.

I am pleased to announce the release of Girls’ Side Volume 2 of “I Got A Cheat Ability In A Different World, And Become Extraordinary Even In The Real World.”

This is thanks to all of you who have supported and cheered me on; thank you very much.

This time, Lexia and the other girls have moved the stage from the desert to the northern lands, where the snow-covered lands are the scene of a great adventure that will put the survival of the country at stake.

In this volume, a heroine named Noel, who develops various magic tools, makes an appearance.

I love the unique “Daily Necessities Item Series” that appears in the main “Iserebe,” so I had a lot of fun coming up with the various magic tools.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Now, let me move on to my acknowledgments.

I would like to thank Miku-sensei for taking time out of his very busy schedule to supervise this project. His kindness is like an ocean, and his warm words, like the sun, have always saved my life, so thank you very much.

To the editor, who has been very kind to me. Thanks to your always careful and detailed guidance, I managed to reach the goal this time as well, even though I am an inexperienced person.

Kuwashima-sensei draws Lexia and the others so vividly and prettily with his beautiful illustrations. Every time I see the illustrations, I fight the urge to frame and display them all.

And to everyone who has picked up a copy of this book, I express my deepest gratitude.

Thank you so much.

I will do my best to make “Iserebe,” which will be adapted into an anime in April and is outside the standard of fun and more exciting together with you all.

I hope to see you all again soon.
