Chapter 501: The Otherside? [3]
[11:55 AM]
With elegance and experience, the Drowned King managed to pull the Wendigo back and cause them to switch places, making it so that the Jungle Lord would take the brunt force of the attack.
Viesta and Nearlo widened their eyes at this, shocked and helpless at the fact that their attacks were already in motion.
They can’t stop their attacks!
The Jungle Lord, who was on track to be hit by two simultaneous attacks, did something that the Drowned King wouldn’t expect.
Dropping his spear, which was tightly held in the Drowned King’s hand, he leapt into the air.
With him now out of the way, the Drowned King was the only one in line to be the target of the attacks. And realising this, the man clicked his tongue and threw the stone spear aside.
He then held his harpoon and began to spin it in one hand rapidly, causing it to blur with speed.
Once the beam of light and darkness, as well as the bullets, arrived, his harpoon managed to block them all.
After the ranged attacks ended, the Drowned King ceased the spinning of his harpoon before moving out of the way, dodging a punch from Jon.
The bodyguard rushed him with wind surrounding his body, enhancing his speed and also the rate at which he attacked. And in between his punches, gusts of wind would also blast out with cutting edges.
Dodging yet another punch, the Drowned King raised his harpoon and stabbed at the man, but was interrupted by the creature that Nearlo summoned.
Jon quickly dashed back, sweat painting his face.
Nearlo’s monster stabbed its legs at the Drowned King, who only caught it and swung it off to the side, causing it to go flying and crashing into a nearby pillar.
The Jungle Lord soon returned to fighting with the Drowned King, supported by Viesta and Nearlo, who did their part as well.
[12:05]
Viesta fired her weapons. Nearlo fired his attacks, but in much smaller sizes. Jon would join whenever he had a chance.
By now, the Jungle Lord was covered in wounds—most predominantly stab wounds—as the Drowned King was relentless in his attacks.
As time went on, Viesta did her best to analyse the Drowned King as best as she could. And the one thing she was able to identify was that the man didn’t use any form of magic besides enhancing his body.
Could it be that he didn’t have any abilities? No... With someone with a reputation like his, that couldn’t be the case.
So why?
Was it because... He couldn’t or was restricted by something?
BANG! BANG! BANG!
After loading her revolver with bullets, Viesta quickly fired them off. By now, she had already expended roughly 15 bullets, with all of them blocked.
Even with her Echoing Force, it barely did anything!
’I need to change tactics...!’
By using her magic to remove the echoes of sound made from her steps, Viesta slowly pulled out the item gifted to her by Lillian—a large polished nail...
The [Nail of Solrak].
The Drowned King, who was becoming slightly annoyed by those around him, decided to take care of the most annoying—the Wendigo. He took a step back and gripped his harpoon with a powerful grip.
He then muttered as mana began to exude out of him in torrents:
"[2nd Technique of the Abyssal Harpoon: Lunge of the Abyssal Fang]."
An illusory maw of a dark sea beast of great size manifested around his harpoon, opening its sharp maw widely as it quickly neared the Wendigo.
The moment the Jungle Lord saw this, his eyes flashed a dark green as he immediately raised his stone spear and initiated the 2nd technique of the Deep Sea Hunter—the [Harpoon Thrust].
With a harpoon manifesting around his spear, he stabbed at the illusory sea beast wrapped around the Drowned King’s harpoon and clashed.
CLANG!
The tips of their spears clashed with a thunderous noise. At first, the Jungle Lord’s spear was able to resist the clash, but then—
C-CRACK! CRUNCH!
—The illusory maw of the Drowned King’s harpoon snapped down on his spear, shattering the spearhead of his weapon.
It would then rush up his stone spear, shattering it into pieces and piercing through his entire right shoulder—severing his arm and knocking him back towards the double doors.
THUD!
The Drowned King rolled his shoulder and began to take steps towards the collapsed Jungle Lord. But then, he felt something stab into his back.
Viesta, having managed to pierce the nail into the Drowned King’s back, manifested a spectral red battle hammer that crackled with electricity and power—the space around it distorting inwards with the presence of the hammer.
With a large swing, Viesta managed to slam the hammer into the nail stuck in the Drowned King’s back.
BAM!
The Drowned King, having been struck by the hammer, found his body become warped inwards by space itself. His back wrinkled inwards, and his twisting slightly before resisting the change.
Viesta, seeing that her attack had indeed done something, thought:
’Did I get it?’
Did she manage to get his Mana Core?
...
[12:09 AM]
SWISH!
{A Shard has been Shattered}
She didn’t.
With one single swing, the Drowned King destroyed Viesta’s chestplate, leaving her defenceless.
And within a single second after slicing apart the chestplate, the Drowned King yelled furiously as he delivered a stab that tore through her right shoulder:
"Impudent human!"
"A-AGH!" Viesta cried out in fear as she felt the cold metal and pain in her shoulder send shock through her body, causing her to drop the red energy hammer, which was kicked away.
While her shoulder wasn’t completely destroyed, it was severely damaged.
Nearlo, seeing this, yelled out in desperation and fear:
"VIESTA!"
Holding Viesta up by his harpoon, the Drowned King’s rageful eyes settled themselves onto Viesta’s face.
His eyes then widened slightly in surprise, emotions appearing before being killed off as he threw Viesta towards the double doors.
After that, he tore the bloody nail in his back out and threw it to the ground.
And without a moment to recover from what had happened to him, Jon and Nearlo rushed from the sides with vengeful gazes—along with the Jungle Lord and the abomination, who had managed to recover from their wounds.
