Chapter 552: Roselle Mansion with a Stain inside?
Chapter 552: Roselle Mansion with a Stain inside?
Lillian stared up, wide-eyed, at the gargantuan mansion she was standing in front of. After she and the Gardener had passed through the metal-fenced gate that wrapped around the entire estate, they had exited the limousine and watched as it drove away to be parked.
The mansion was close to 2,800 square metres, while the entire estate was around 25 acres. It was covered and decorated with all sorts of roses.
Lillian didn’t know much about real estate or the money it takes to maintain and pay for it... But she knew this would’ve cost millions!
As Lillian continued to marvel at the grandiose mansion, the Gardener of Roses expanded his senses across the entire estate; a precaution. And once he did, he sensed two vehicles parked in the driveway.
One was the limousine that he and Lillian rode on, while the other...
’It has the Roselle Branding...’ He mentally noted.
This other vehicle belonged to their family, but why were there two? Was someone else, besides them and the servants here?
He stroked his chin, but pushed the thought to the back of his mind. Walking over to the double doors of the mansion, he opened them - the quicker he gets the servants to train Lillian, the quicker he can go experiment with the items he just recently acquired.
"Ah, welcome back to the estate, Sir Gardener."
"Good Morning, Houston."
Upon opening, the Gardener’s eyes landed on a formally-dressed elderly man, who exuded the aura of a Tier 3 mage. This was Houston, the chief butler of the estate and the one who manages this estate in the family’s stead.
Houston shifted his gaze from the Assassin and onto Lillian, who slowly appeared from behind the Gardener’s broad back. He raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? A guest?"
"Yes, this is Lillian Ker Arius. I would like you to designate some servants to her, so that she may be well-versed in maid-work. The Heiress found a liking in her."
"A liking...?!" Houston gasped quietly, visibly shocked, "The Heiress of Roses found interest in others? That’s a jolly surprise, Sir. So, maidwork, was it? I’ll personally show her the ropes after I had finished up this mess over here."
Clapping his hands, Houston summoned a maid, who was around the corner, to show Lillian upstairs to her room.
Lillian, hesitant, glanced back at the Gardener before slowly following after the maid. Her eyes then shifted to the bandage that was wrapped tightly around the girl’s arm, which was soaked in blood - it was fresh.
Watching as Lillian disappeared from his line of sight, he glanced back at Houston before lowering his gaze to the item held in the Chief Butler’s hands.
It was a mop.
Mopping the marble ground, which was temporarily stripped of its red carpet, Houston dignifiedly attacked a dark red and viscous liquid.
Momentarily eyeing that detail, the Gardener raised his eyes and inquired calmly:
"Was there an accident here? And where is the culprit?"
She raised an eyebrow at that, but dared not speak up about it.
"An accident? The accident was very minor, Sir Gardener, as there were no lives lost. As for the culprit, she’s currently in her room, having just arrived under half an hour ago."
"She?" The Gardener inquired, "Is the Thorn of Roses here? If she is, do tell her that I will meet her personally later, after I have rested a few. As for whether it’s the Veil of Roses, please tell me what room she is in so I may meet her."
The Chief Butler’s face remained taciturn and emotionless, but a slight twitch and curl of his lips could be discerned. "Ah, well, here’s the thing, Sir... It is neither the Veil nor the Thorn... It’s actually the Heiress of Roses."
"The Heiress is here?" The Gardener repeated, visibly confused.
He glanced around the spacious room and looked for traces of darkness. Eventually, he found them amongst the faint damage around the room.
They were like termites, digging into the walls of the mansion, trying to live inside their burrowed holes like moles.
The Gardener became greatly annoyed - a patient like her, who was essentially a bomb, shouldn’t be out and about with her current conditions.
With a wave of his hand, he sent a large portion of his mana in hopes of purifying it.
He watched as the darkness fought back before eventually shrinking, then disappearing like a cursed spirit. This act of purification had drained 10% of his overall mana.
"And where is her room now?"
"We have placed her in one of the guest rooms, the first one, to be exact. I do apologise if that seems either disrespectful or inappropriate towards your esteemed selves, but we found it to be the most reasonable to prevent any further more possible damage to the estate."
...
While the two conversed downstairs, Lillian was quietly being led through a corridor of minimalistic decorations - most of the decorations being sharp weapons.
She was... A bit lost, to say the least.
’I haven’t been here before...’
Inside the game, the entrance into any estate belonging to the Roselles would always lead to a hostile outcome. And you wouldn’t usually be able to enter them unless through force, since any member of the Roselle would show hostility towards you.
A bit nervous, Lillian continued to walk, but then found her surroundings suddenly darken to an intense degree before going back to normal a moment after.
It was as if the world momentarily powered off before turning back on.
Frozen in place, Lillian glanced around before settling her gaze on the double doors to a room next to her - a dark and sinister aura exuded through the gaps in the doors.
It was also strangely familiar...
Raising an eyebrow, Lillian took another couple of steps forward before accidentally bumping into the maid.
"Ah, sorry!"
After apologising and taking a step back, Lillian watched as the maid turned around and gestured to the room next to her - it was next to the room Lillian was previously looking at.
"This is Guest Room 2. This will be your temporary residence for your time here. It is equipped with a large king-sized bed, a bathroom, etc. If you need any assistance, please look for the nearest servant. The Head Butler will be with you shortly."
Like a robot, the maid systematically told everything that Lillian needed to know before leaving.
Watching as she walked away, the Rabbit scratched her head awkwardly, but found herself appreciating the woman’s straightforwardness.
Lillian then took a step towards her room.
