Chapter 613: Spiritual Fashion?
Chapter 613: Spiritual Fashion?
"Ya ready to go?" Millis asked with a tilt of her head, having widened the hole large enough for the two of them to enter.
Lillian thought for a moment before shaking her head, her physical body mimicking her gesture. "I look a bit too eye-catching, let me put something on."
Currently, Lillian was not yet proficient enough or had any knowledge of how to manipulate her soul. Thus, she needed something to wear - and something that would undoubtedly last her for a long time.
In the next second, Millis watched as Lillian plunged her hand into the air before pulling out a midnight blue hooded robe and donning it.
The robe was woven with a mystical midnight-blue fabric that seemed to shift through a variety of shades, resembling a slow-moving sea in the starry night.
The fabric was soft and smooth, but never stiff and was also slightly heavy on Lillian’s spiritual body.
It had wide sleeves, more than enough for Lillian’s limbs to fit through, and the shoulder felt slightly reinforced, like there were a pair of shoulder pads hidden inside her robe.
The inner linings of the robe revealed a soft light blue glow as it came in contact with Lillian’s spiritual body. And the hood was large enough to cast a shadow over her face.
This robe that Lillian wore was called the [Soul Sovereign’s Robe].

[Item Name: Soul Sovereign’s Robe]
[Item Type: Accessory]
[Item Tier: 5]
[Item Rank: C]
[Item Description: The Soul Sovereign was a spiritual entity that defied mortality, having survived countless existence-erasing attacks with just a shred of his soul left over. He was known as a relentless conqueror without rest, having taken over the majority of the north for himself after battling against the Frost Sovereign. But despite having the mentality that all things will eventually end, he was rather picky about his equipment, to the point that he had decided to create his own. Severing a small fraction of his soul and imbuing it into a ragged piece of clothing, he created a robe, which would then become his signature piece.]
[Enchantment: Soul Cohesion, Anchored Presence, Death is a Motivator]
[Soul Cohesion: Wearing this robe will reduce any damage towards the soul by 75%; the pain from the attack will still remain.]
[Anchored Presence: Wearing this robe will grant the wearer added protection towards possession, corruption, and any form of overriding that would cause the wearer’s identity to become lost.]
[Death is a Motivator: "If all things are going to die, then they can die by themselves."
If the wearer’s soul is about to be destroyed, the robe would intervene by trapping you in a cocoon, allowing you to temporarily fuse with the soul fragment of the Soul Sovereign. When you eventually emerge, all damage done to you would be healed, you would be able to output more than double what you were capable of before, and all forms of attack by you would be able to damage the soul. This effect will only last until the wearer has retreated to somewhere safe. This effect can only happen once every two months.]

Lillian was frugal, not cheap.
If spending more would be able help to ensure her life and would also be useful to her in the long run, why shouldn’t she buy it?
Although it may not have been maxed out in terms of the amount of enchantments it could have, it didn’t mean it wasn’t effective in what it could do - she needed protection.
After buying it, Lillian and Millis left through the basement to the surface - ending up in the middle ring: the Pooch.
However, midway through their travel, Lillian had donned her [Mask of Deceit], trusting that Millis wouldn’t spill her secret after telling her about it.
Fortunately, the Heroine was quite trustworthy in this case, and Lillian knew this, considering she had known Millis for a very long time - well, before meeting her in person.
There will be a time when she will tell others about the mask, but not now.
The reason? It was because having a secret identity was cool!
’Even I can be a bit childish, can’t I?’ Lillian thought, floating out from the hole Millis created.
They were in some kind of isolated alleyway.
Lillian looked around before looking up to the artificial night sky, staring at the shining silver moon with narrowed eyes.
Because she was now looking through the eyes of her soul, she was able to see the innerworking of magical things; in this case, the artificial moon.
In Lillian’s eyes, the moon looked like a yarn ball with its carefully woven strings being mana. It was strange and otherworldly, but it was also awe-inspiring.
She couldn’t comprehend the amount of skill and effort it took to create something like an entire Realm.
’Even just operating my spiritual body is difficult.’
The act of separating your soul from your physical body could be considered crippling yourself.
A body without a soul would lose its ability to manipulate mana. While the soul would lose its only source of mana, thus causing it to start deteriorating at a rapid pace, and without the body to protect it, the soul would be exposed to all kinds of supernatural influences.
You would also be splitting half of your mind apart just to operate both bodies, making it much more difficult for mages, who haven’t learnt to control clones.
Unfortunately, Lillian was one of these mages. But luckily, with the help of her Drowned Leviathan Earring, this flaw was able to be ignored.
’I also remember that the soul’s sensitivity to pain is quite high as well...’ Lillian shivered a bit, hesitant about getting hurt in a fight.
Enduring pain and outlasting her opponents, as much as she hated it, was her go-to plan in fights - that was how she had won most of her battles, why stop now?
’But until she felt pain to the soul was like and adapted...’ Lillian thought grimly, ’I’m going to need a different strategy.’
She then took a look down at her hand, staring at the harpoon-shaped mark on her palm - the Acus Mark.
Because all of her weapons were stored inside her spatial ring, Acus Maris was going to be my primary weapon for now.
To say she was rather excited would be an understatement. Besides, against those amphibians back in the Eastern Nation, Lillian didn’t have any other opportunity to use it.
"Oi, ya still here with me?"
Snapping out of her thoughts, Lillian returned to reality.
Looking around, she found herself standing on a public pavement. Lillian glanced around as she walked behind Millis, moving past people who still lingered outside.
Unlike on the Surface, where people would’ve undoubtedly looked in her direction, the people here only spared her a single curious glance before going about their day in the dark.
That was because in the Underworld, people knew when to mind their business and not stare.
Some of the people down here would have grown up in the Underworld, having never seen or been to the Surface, and thus growing up either poor and malnourished or just barely scraping by.
The harsh environment would then develop their survival instincts and wisdom, leading them to not visibly judge or mind others in fear that they may lose something dear to them.
So far, Lillian had yet to see the cruelty in the Underworld besides that one time she watched a thief get slaughtered in the Blackmarket, where Roselle family oversees.
Turning her gaze away from them, she looked to Millis, who seemed to have something to say to her.
