Chapter 191: Brothers Reunited
Chapter 191: Brothers Reunited
Beneath the Underground Palace of the Soaring Dragon Dynasty, the old man fell silent after uttering those two words, his eyes betraying an uncontainable weariness.
Tian Fan was taken aback and immediately pressed for more information.
“Senior, what exactly happened a million years ago? Why did all the immortals, gods, and demons disappear? How did the Enchanted Forest and the Dark Abyss come to be?”
He blurted out a long string of questions in one breath. There was no helping it; he had too many doubts in his heart. Over the past year, he had experienced so many strange occurrences that he felt overwhelmed. The several masters from the Immortal Ascension Realm in the distance all perked up their ears; for beings of their level, the fate of the immortals had become their greatest concern.
“Time, ah, it flows faster than light. I have grown old…”
The old man gazed sadly at the sky, scanning over the several masters one by one, finally resting his gaze on Tian Fan. “Young man, every cultivator has their own path. The stronger the ability, the more burdens one must bear. You must remember…”
Upon hearing this, Tian Fan was quite puzzled and wanted to ask more, but the old man never revealed anything further, merely stating that he would come to know in the future.
Long Aotian and the others approached from afar, bowing deeply in respect to the old man, all inviting him to visit their respective families. They were key figures from various holy lands, fully aware of how powerful this old man was; he was a true deity living in the world, a walking history book. If they could gain his support, who in the Divine Martial Continent would dare to oppose them?
However, to their disappointment, the old man simply waved his hand gently, casting one last deep glance at Tian Fan, his gaze distant. He returned to the appearance of an ordinary old man, hunched over, and with just a step forward, he vanished from their sight, leaving behind a faintly sorrowful phrase echoing in the air.
“A million years later, the world has changed beyond recognition. Perhaps I should prepare myself for death in battle…”
Upon hearing this, everyone’s expression changed. Had he really lived for a million years? What difference was there between that and an ant proposing to an elephant? Given the combat power he had just displayed, he could easily tear apart this world; who could possibly contend with him?
“A million years… the world has changed…” Tian Fan murmured, his gaze becoming somewhat dazed. The old man’s slightly sorrowful words seemed to touch something deep within him.
“Brother, we can go out now,” the little one said, perched atop Tian Fan’s head, lazily reminding him as she noticed his trance.
“Yes, let’s go out. We’re heading back!”
Tian Fan replied, setting aside his doubts. After enduring countless hardships, he had finally gathered all the Five Spirit Orbs. His mood was beyond words; he just wanted to fly straight to the Shangguan Family.
When Murong Qiu and the others learned that he had collected all the Five Spirit Orbs, they genuinely rejoiced for him. Even the usually taciturn Xiang Yufei congratulated him.
“Little one, did you cause some trouble?”
Looking at the Little Phoenix on Murong Qiu’s shoulder, whose eyes were flickering, Tian Fan smiled and said. The little dragon on his head blinked its lively eyes, staring at the palm-sized Little Phoenix.
“I didn’t!”
The Little Phoenix flapped its colorful wings, fiercely defending itself. Upon hearing this, Murong Qiu and the two behind her couldn’t help but chuckle, even Xiang Yufei cracked a smile, because the little one was just too adorable, having nearly burned the elder of the Murong Family to a crisp, yet it looked so aggrieved.
“I’m going to see someone. Are you coming?” Tian Fan asked, and the others were curious if there was someone in the Soaring Dragon Dynasty he wanted to meet.
In a secluded little courtyard in a corner of the Soaring Dragon Dynasty, a young man in purple, around eighteen or nineteen years old, was fuming, his face flushed. “Elder brother, second brother, how can you do this? This was Seventh Brother’s room!”
“Hmph, we haven’t destroyed it; that’s already showing mercy.”
“I’ve raised that waste for twenty years. Should I keep his room for him even after he’s dead?”
Standing opposite him were two men clad in golden armor, the eldest prince Long Batian and the second prince Long Youtian of the Soaring Dragon Dynasty, both wearing mocking expressions, clearly disdainful. Behind them was a group of powerful warriors, all formidable, wielding golden iron spears, with the weakest among them being at the Cloud Heaven Realm.
Recently, Long Batian had raised a dragon horse, and not wanting his beloved steed to live with other spirit beasts, he pondered for a solution. In the end, it was Long Youtian who suggested using Tian Fan’s old room, which was still empty and had a serene environment, so he informed Long Batian. The latter’s eyes lit up, thinking it was a good idea, and immediately brought his prized dragon horse along with Long Youtian.
When Long Yuyun arrived, he would never agree, blocking the entrance to the little house.
“I say, Eighth Brother, you can’t really be treating that waste as your brother, can you?” Long Youtian, towering and now at the peak of the Cloud Heaven Realm, spoke with a condescending smile, glaring at Long Yuyun.
“Get out of the way, or don’t blame me for being rude!”
Long Batian sneered, staring at Long Yuyun. Although they shared the same father, they had different mothers, and they would eventually fight to the death over the throne.
“Yes, I say Seventh Brother, you should step aside. Is it worth offending us brothers over a dead waste? You should know, you’re only at the mid-stage of the Cloud Heaven Realm.”
Long Youtian said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, addressing Long Yuyun.
“Indeed, Your Highness the Eighth Prince, you should step aside. It’s not worth it for that person!”
Two maidservants beside Long Batian were somewhat at a loss; they were the ones who had cleaned this room before, and they didn’t dare to directly call him a “waste” in front of Long Yuyun.
“I won’t!”
Long Yuyun declared firmly, standing resolutely in front of the little house.
“Hmph, if you refuse to drink the wine offered, you’ll have to drink the wine of punishment. Don’t blame me for being merciless then!”
Long Batian sneered, exuding an incredibly powerful aura that shook the little courtyard, causing it to tremble. Long Youtian crossed his arms, a mocking smile on his lips, as if enjoying a comedy.
Long Yuyun struggled against this pressure, cold sweat trickling down his forehead, yet he remained steadfast, unwilling to take a step back.
“Hmph, seeking your own suffering, then don’t blame me!” Long Batian coldly snorted, raising his golden palm to strike forward.
Boom…
Suddenly, the Void trembled violently, a massive foot, over ten feet long, engulfed in golden light, came crashing down from above.
Bang…
Dust soared into the sky, the ground shook violently, and Long Batian didn’t even have time to react before being stomped beneath that golden foot, blood spewing from his mouth, his golden armor shattered, and several ribs in his chest broken.
Tian Fan’s Divine Consciousness was incredibly powerful now; with just a sweep, he found the person he was looking for. Watching Long Yuyun’s not-so-tall figure steadfastly guarding the little house he once lived in, and seeing Long Batian and the others acting so arrogantly, the pent-up frustration in his chest that had been building for twenty years erupted all at once, directly manifesting his divine powers.
Not just him, even Murong Qiu and the others were furious; these two were too arrogant, using such ruthless means against their own brother.
Long Yuyun looked in shock at the man with his back to him, a familiar feeling emerging in his heart. He looked at the other in confusion, and at that moment, he noticed someone had appeared behind him.
“Who are you?” Long Yuyun asked warily, looking at the unfamiliar faces.
“Your brother’s friends,” Murong Qiu said with a gentle smile, pointing with her delicate jade finger at the white figure ahead.
“Who are you to dare cause trouble in my Soaring Dragon Dynasty!” Long Youtian finally snapped back to reality, shouting as he looked at Long Batian, who lay on the ground, crying out in pain.
Tian Fan raised his head, his black hair cascading down to cover half his face. He coldly stared at Long Youtian, whose expression changed drastically. “It’s you, you waste, you’re not dead?”
“Pfft…”
A golden palm swung out, sending Long Youtian flying, rolling ten feet away, blood staining the ground, his jaw shattered, teeth scattered everywhere, and he fainted on the spot.
Of course, Tian Fan had shown mercy; otherwise, with his current physical strength, even a peak Hunyuan expert would be turned into mush with a single slap.
“How dare you lay hands on a prince!”
A group of warriors behind him shouted in unison, brandishing their spears at Tian Fan. There were over a dozen of them, all at the Cloud Heaven Realm, and such a force was incredibly powerful, shaking the Void with a thunderous roar.
“Get lost!”
Tian Fan’s expression was icy as he spat out this single word. The dozen warriors all spat blood and retreated, falling into the dust, each one looking terrified at the white-clad youth before them.
“He… he…” Long Yuyun was filled with shock. Who exactly was this person? Just a single word had made a super team from the Cloud Heaven Realm vomit blood and retreat; it was terrifyingly excessive.
“You… waste… ah!” Long Batian looked at the person stepping on him, his expression turning to shock, then he venomously said, but before he could finish, he let out a piercing scream.
“You didn’t know your place!” Tian Fan said coldly, slightly pressing down with his right foot, causing Long Batian’s ribs to break even more.
“Stop!” Long Yuyun shouted. Although he didn’t like Long Batian and Long Youtian’s arrogance, they were still brothers. Seeing them in such a miserable state was hard for him to bear. He rushed forward to grab Tian Fan, but when Tian Fan turned to look at him, he was instantly stunned, his mouth agape in shock.
“You… you…” Looking at the familiar yet strange face before him, he momentarily didn’t know what to say.
“Brother, it’s been a year. We meet again. How… are you!” Tian Fan tried to keep a smile, feeling pained for his innocent and kind-hearted brother. He remembered many times when he had argued with several princes for his sake, and in the Enchanted Forest, it was this not-so-mighty figure who had shielded him from waves of terrifying energy while he himself was left panting and drenched in sweat.
“Seventh Brother? Seventh Brother, it’s really you! You’re not dead?” Hearing Tian Fan’s words, Long Yuyun was incredibly excited, his body trembling, and tears welled up in his big eyes.
