Chapter 49 - Mech Control
Chapter 49 - Mech Control
In the end, Mo Han agreed to learn how to use a combat mech from Luo Fei, who taught him very patiently.
S-class smart mechs can be controlled with mental power after being spiritually matched. Take Luo Fei’s combat mech, Chongming, who has been with him since he was very young. Mech and master are inseparable. It’s his closest partner, knows all his memories, and can directly execute orders based on commands issued mentally.
However, the manufacturing technology of S-class mechs is one of the biggest secrets of the Empire. At present, only the mech manufacturing factory managed by Uncle Brian has mastered this technology. There are only a dozen S-class smart mechs in the entire empire, and they are all affiliated with or part of the military. Only army commanders and the royal family are eligible, and even they have to go through the Mech Association’s strict review and spiritual matching process. People can’t buy it even if they have money.
Due to the strict control of S-class mechs, among the few princes, only the First Prince Luo Fei has obtained an S-class combat mech. Luo Ning did not get an S-class combat mech – the intelligence of his mech is S-class, but it cannot be equipped with heavy firepower weapons; it does not have Chongming’s combat capabilities of destroying a city with one shot.
Luo Fei can’t get Mo Han an S-class mech for the time being, so he focused on teaching Mo Han how to control the more common C-class combat mech. Since Mo Han doesn’t need to go to the battlefield to kill enemies, this mech will be more than enough to deal with ordinary dangers.
C-class mechs need to be controlled manually. Luo Fei introduced the various buttons on the console in detail, and walked through actions such as squatting, jumping, and sliding that require repeated practice to master.
After walking through basic knowledge, Luo Fei smiled and asked Mo Han to sit in front of the console, and said, “Let’s try a simple scene first.”
He chose the elementary tutorial from the training system. The scenery in front of them changed into a vast desert with many stone obstacles. The operator needs to control the mech to avoid obstacles and reach the end.
Mo Han has never controlled a combat mech before, but he is very smart and learns fast. Most people have to practice many times to memorize the densely packed buttons in the cockpit, but Mo Han learned it all after one explanation from Luo Fei.
Mo Han concentrated on the realistic scene in front of him. The obstacles were tall and short, and he needed to avoid them by turning sideways, sliding, jumping, and performing other actions.
Luo Fei watched his operation carefully from the side. When Mo Han moved sideways, Luo Fei found that his strength was too strong and almost made the mech fall to the ground, so he gently held his hand to demonstrate. “The length of the button press is proportional to the distance. For such a small obstacle, you can let go of the mech by pressing it for 0.5 seconds when the mech is moving forward quickly, otherwise it will cause the mech to roll over.”
The deep voice in his ear made Mo Han’s heartbeat fluctuate uncontrollably.
Luo Fei was standing beside him, half holding him in his arms. Luo Fei, who had just finished playing basketball and was only wearing a vest. Luo Fei’s body temperature radiated out, and Mo Han could feel the strong muscles of his arms, and the warm breath that brushed against his ears when he spoke.
His heartbeat grew faster upon realizing they were trapped in a small quiet space.
Mo Han tried to stay calm and focus on his words, but his mind was in a mess. As a result, he accidentally shook the balance bar, and the mech fell to the ground.
The mech’s sudden action caught Luo Fei off guard, and he immediately supported himself, but it didn’t stop his body pressing forward due to the inertia.
Their bodies pressed together ambiguously; Luo Fei happened to push Mo Han down on the driver’s platform.
Behind him was the cold console, but in front of him was Luo Fei’s hot body. Strong alpha pheromones rushed towards him, making Mo Han’s ears turn red instantly, and he reflexively wanted to escape.
With a graceful smile, Luo Fei quickly stabilized the balance bar to make the mech stand up, pulled Mo Han up, and said softly: “It’s okay, I wasn’t used to it at the beginning either. Combat mechs have many buttons, and mastering it takes time. Pay attention to the coordination of your left and right hands. I’ll adjust the difficulty and you can try again.”
He lowered the difficulty of the tutorial to the easiest mode, and more than half of the obstacles disappeared at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Mo Han felt very embarrassed and a little ashamed.
Fortunately, Luo Fei did not laugh at him, but continued to teach him patiently.
After an hour of practice, Mo Han gradually mastered some skills – for example, when crossing obstacles, he can perform several control commands at the same time, such as jumping or sliding while moving sideways. The mech shuttled through obstacles as nimbly and quickly as a human being.
It wasn’t until Mo Han got full marks in the elementary course that Luo Fei began to teach him how to use various weapons.
The melee attack of the electromagnetic knife, the long-range bombing of the ion cannon… These weapons will definitely not be learned in a day or two. Luo Fei simply gave Mo Han a detailed demonstration and some tips of what to do when encountering an enemy mech – namely, how to find cover and defend, and find a way to counter.
Mo Han studied very seriously, and Luo Fei explained patiently.
In the airtight cockpit, there is a warm atmosphere slowly flowing between the two.
Mo Han never thought that he could be alone with someone for such a long time without feeling the slightest bit of disgust.
The innocent and silly First Prince in his memory seemed to gradually disappear, replaced by this gentle, handsome, patient, and considerate imperial soldier in front of him.
Luo Fei told him before that a person’s impression of another person will slowly change over time. One forms a general impression upon first encounter, but after getting along, you may find many things that attract you to that person.
This sentence really hit the spot. Mo Han felt this way towards Luo Fei. His initial impression of the First Prince is that he’s simple and stupid, trying his best to act after his vest was gone that Mo Han couldn’t help but want to tease him… like teasing a simple and cute little milk dog.
But as time went by and he got to know Luo Fei better, he became more and more attracted to him…
It’s like boiling a pot of water on low fire. At first, the water in the pot is cold and calm, but gradually, the temperature rises until the water fully boils. This process is so slow that Mo Han He didn’t notice it until the water in his heart boiled completely. When he noticed, it was too late to control it.
He can only admit it.
Luo Fei saw that there seemed to be something on his mind, so he smiled slightly and said, “Let’s end here for now. Combat mechs can’t be learned in a day or two, I will teach you slowly later.”
Mo Han came back to his senses, and hummed lightly before asking, “Do I need to pay tuition like Iman?”
Ludwig taught Iman how to snipe, and Iman proudly said that he would give him a smart mech made by himself. Mo Han doesn’t know how to make mechs, but as the major shareholder of Fengyang Group, he can give Luo Fei some new products, such as the smart game cabin that he gave on his birthday.
In the end, Luo Fei’s answer surprised Mo Han: “There is no tuition fee. There’s no need to be so polite between us, you know the reason.”
Mo Han: “…”
The reason, of course, is that Luo Fei likes him.
Facing Luo Fei’s serious and gentle eyes, Mo Han couldn’t help feeling a little guilty. He took a deep breath, and said in a low voice: “Luo Fei, you don’t know me very well. Maybe what you like is just my appearance. One day you’ll come to realize I’m not who you think I am.”
He’s an omega, wearing an alpha mask. If Luo Fei knows this secret one day, will he still like him? What Luo Fei likes is the alpha Mo Han. not the omega Mo Lin.
Hearing this, Luo Fei asked puzzledly, “You mean, you still have a lot of secrets from me, right?”
Mo Han nodded with a serious expression.
Luo Fei looked at him with a smile and said: “Even if you have a lot of secrets that you can’t share yet, that’s okay. Since I like you, I will naturally accept everything about you. What I like is you, not your identity or background. The past is not important, I value the future more.”
This guy is more stubborn than he thought, and more infatuated than everyone Mo Han has ever come into contact with.
But it was this reckless trust that warmed Mo Han’s heart bit by bit. The corners of his mouth couldn’t help twitching as he replied: “It’s not too late to say this when you know.” If you can accept everything about me, Then maybe I can think about it carefully, whether I want to be your consort.
At this moment, Mo Han’s communicator lit up. It was a message from Iman: “Mo Han, when are we going back?”
The little lazy pig finally woke up.
Mo Han replied smoothly: “Let’s have lunch together, and head back after eating.”

Mo Han and Luo Fei left the mech training hall and went to the designated school cafeteria where Iman was waiting for them at the door with a bright smile. Ludwig beside him with a cold face; he was probably dragged over by Iman.
Seeing the two of them, Iman immediately ran over with a smile on his face. “You guys are so energetic! I was exhausted after climbing the mountain yesterday, yet the two of you still managed to get up so early today!”
Tired? You, the guy who went up and down the mountain in a hovercraft, actually has the nerve to say you’re tired?!
Luo Fei shot him a blank look. “Don’t make excuses if you’re lazy. You should’ve slept for more than ten hours last night?”
Iman replied confidently: “How can I be worthy of the word weekend if I don’t sleep in on weekends!”
The corner of Ludwig’s mouth twitched, refusing to refute his fallacy.
The four arrived at the private room where Iman boldly picked up the electronic menu saying: “Today, it’s on me!”
No one argued with him.
It’s just that Iman ordered many dishes, which filled up the entire table. Ludwig thought there would be leftovers, but what surprised him was that Iman actually finished it all…
Finished?!
Is this guy a pig? Such a big appetite? An alpha with no money probably wouldn’t be able to support him.
After eating, Iman and Mo Han set off back to Hermann University, and Luo Fei and Ludwig sent them to the school gate.
Iman looked at his cold-faced crush reluctantly and said, “I will come visit again.”
‘You’d better not come,’ Ludwig thought to himself, but on the surface he still gave a cold “hmm.”
Luo Fei smiled and said to Mo Han: “If you’re free next weekend, you can come over. I’ll continue teaching you how to use mech weapons.”
Mo Han said indifferently: “I’ll see.”
He said this, but in his heart he already made up his mind to come back next weekend. On the one hand, he is really interested in learning how to use combat mechs, but on the other hand, he admitted he wanted to see Luo Fei again.
Thinking that he won’t be able to see him until next week, he felt a little bit reluctant.
***
On the way back, Iman asked curiously: “Mo Han, why do you want to learn combat mech from Luo Fei? Do you also want to participate in the mech competition?”
Mo Han was startled: “What mech competition?”
Iman explained with a smile: “The Empire holds a high school mech competition every year. Most of the students in the military school will participate. Those from other schools can also sign up if they are interested. The top three in the mech competition can get a custom-made combat mech – a mech made by my father, Mr. Brian, himself. It’s a prize many students dream of.”
Mo Han was a little moved when he heard this. “Can I participate too?”
“Of course, Hermann University has five places. If you want to participate, you have to go through the school’s internal competition to represent our school in the finals on Capital Star. As a military student, Luo Fei will definitely participate. With his level, winning the championship shouldn’t be a problem.”
Mo Han couldn’t help feeling excited. What Luo Fei taught him are just some basics, but if he can master more skills, can’t he also participate?
Before, Mo Han never paid attention to this kind of competition, but Luo Fei let him see the charm of combat mech.
Different from hand-to-hand combat, which is in part a test of physical strength and agility, when mechs are fighting, each mech has similar functions. Victory or defeat depend on the operator’s reaction and combat skills – even an omega with worse physical strength than an alpha can win.
Mo Han’s martial arts level is average. Although he was privately trained as a child, his talent is limited by his body and he couldn’t reach a high level.
But mechs are different, as long as he reacts fast enough and operates accurately enough, he can definitely drive the mech to defeat countless alphas.
Thinking of this, Mo Han said decisively: “Then I will sign up and try.”
Luo Fei is his combat mech teacher.
He wants to see if he can outperform and beat this teacher who taught him himself!
Lots of feels coming up. Though the speed at which Mo Han master’s the mech is a bit… fast.
