Chapter 3016. Race For The Best

Chapter 3016. Race For The Best

Walker was quick to help using earth magic to handle the after effects. However, there were those he noticed with tears in their eyes and some grimaces while they had tried to throw themselves in to repairing the damage from these burrowing moths.

These were the farmers who had lost family or friends to them.

These monsters were not evil. They were just hungry and they hunted constantly. It was in their nature.

Regardless of them having been brought back to an active state and being thrust in to a world that was not the same as when they had been naturally living, they were still part of nature. It was the duty of people to rise back up and understand how to survive now. It was just something that could take longer than expected as new aspects of nature came to be.

Adapting and overcoming was the name of the game when it came to survival. It just depended on someone taking the time to understand what was happening as soon as they could. As much as they could.

It mattered that someone was able to keep people united.

The guards had been in the process of this, but with the healer group and Walker here, they had been able to speed up that process.

This was the key point in Walker’s mind.

Elites were needed.

People who excelled at certain skill sets who would be invaluable to encouraging a process anywhere to happen faster. Whether it was as a guard or within a forge. It just all depended on having those highly skilled in that specific time and place to achieve a better result.

He focused on the actions of one of his golem bodies working with Gil.

He had met several elven alchemists and herbalists working to understand the new crops they were cross breeding. Not because they wished to better just the elves, they wanted to make sure everyone could have food.

Many of the demi-human farmers who had retired brought their knowledge to Genesis just for that purpose. But that was the key there.

Those farmers had years of experience making them elites. Furthermore, that made this cross breeding experimentation move faster for the elves who had less experience in that specific trade.

The result had been seventeen crops being produced better than before and eventually narrowed down to what they believed would be as many as five properly created crops ready to send out as seeds to the fields of every single kingdom.

An achievement that should take generations for the demi-humans alone but now were sped up because there were those that provided elite information.

The demi-humans needed guards like that.

The guards here were perfect. They were not failing in any way.

They just kept the same rhythm of patrols and training. They were not in Genesis where training plans constantly changed. Where people constantly pushed for the newest attempt at growth. The mentality was slower here and that was not a bad thing.

Pressure came with the push of growth but here, farms expanded over time. People grew over time. They enjoyed their own culture and could be said to live a bit more of a peaceful life in a way.

That would change as the knowledge of Genesis grew more and shared more. But that did not mean that they would lose anything. If anything, they would just gain more tools at their command.

Today, those guards had seen some results from Genesis since they had not seen as much before.

The farmers who were hurt emotionally or physically today were able to see that people were improving and searching for ways to be better. They understood that there would be a better future and they would be safer day by day.

If that peace of mind came, that was the best thing right now.

Walker could easily send more groups of guards to trade places so that these outer guards of the demi-human lands could train in Genesis and return after a couple months stronger. That alone was enough to encourage more growth. Push everyone else to grow beyond their perceived limitations.

"Walker, there aren’t any injuries left to worry about that need me. I will take a walk to the nearby farms." Alice shouted and Walker gave her a wave understanding that she wanted to help spread the word that everything was taken care of.

This would also help bring the healers in to a good light as many farmers were still apprehensive of the traveling group. But that was to be expected when not everyone cared to stay up to date on the newest happenings of Genesis or the alliance as a whole.

This did leave him wondering what else he should do. He’d already repaired the ground well enough and had one of his other golem bodies working with Scylla to expand the guard and exchange program for training one another.

This left him stumped. Not having something to do was unexpected despite the fact that he’d just helped handle an unexpected and grave situation.

The repairs in homes, fields, and barns was more ideal for crafters and farmers to handle than himself. His earth magic had done the main heavy lifting and that was enough for most.

Maybe he should look more in to farming while he kept an eye on some of the younger healers getting their first real starts here?

"Hey, you said you needed potions for the next class to identify quality? Why not use mine?" The golem working with Remey spoke and Remey understood that Walker wanted to help lore with the alchemy guild as a whole.

She’d left him working on small potions for a while now since she’d been dragged in to class planning.

The education of alchemists was a larger project than Walker had understood in the moment.

Not because they were so large and had to bring so many people that they couldn’t handle it.

It was because some people were stubborn and still tried to teach the superiority of alchemy to some people. That they should be looking for additional payment once they Left Genesis and worked in other kingdoms or branches of the alchemy guild.

Due to this, Remey was trapped with paperwork analyzing more potential issues that could appear in the future. She had to find the right teachers ready to grow the current standards of the alchemy guild while also teaching some older alchemists that they needed to change their ways.

This had been done within the human kingdom primarily because they had abused this the most against people.

Remey had hated how the alchemy building charged huge prices for potions and often ignored the average citizen. That’s why she changed it.

Knowing that the problem persisted beyond that kingdom and also beyond Genesis hit her hard.

That’s why she was going over everything. She didn’t want to exile the experienced older alchemists. She wanted them to adapt.

"You already have alchemists traveling to share knowledge and teach more. They were the ones who were receptive to changes in the alchemy world overall. So you are short on those who can uphold that in the younger generation. Fees and punishments are just a tactic but not a permanent influence. They can sneak out of them."

Remey looked up as Walker altered his words and topic. He’d fully stopped making potions catching her full attention now. She also didn’t respond since she knew he was entirely right. But she also wanted to hear if he had solutions that could work.

"My idea is to alter the mentorship paths you’ve made. Those who do not support the low cost and safe methods of potion selling and overall practices won’t be selected and able to take mentors. Instead they will see the risk of their methods and knowledge being forgotten to books left in the archive."

She looked at him with a bit of a toothy vicious grin. "I’ll reward the ones adapting more with better tools, better labs, and larger classes."

She knew that many alchemists were greedy for their standing. They wanted to look better and be better.

They also wished to show off that they were making major strides in alchemy for some fame. That was normal for alchemists since the culture had always been to become highly regarded and wealthy. But now Remey was cutting away the wealth focus and trying to keep the pride to encourage them to strive for new break through and better qualities.

"You can even start a competition to last a year related to the morals and standing amongst the people. Set reviews and requirements of verified comments on their actions and potions. Things that can’t be bought with gold but only good results and actions from those they teach and themselves as well.

Some good actors might sneak by, but it wouldn’t last a whole year. Those fake masks would crack leaving only the right people ahead in this race.
