Chapter 3034. Peace And Mana

Chapter 3034: 3034. Peace And Mana

The growl was not one that came from somewhere of actual fear or anger. Midnight was just frustrated that this thing had appeared and blocked her.

Even worse, she had wasted another appraisal scroll figuring out that it was just a pest that was bothering her!

The long dark legs and green colored wings would be interesting to some who studied the odd monsters that the party found in the outer elemental planes. But this thing was even stranger and could only feed on mana from other living beings. It was called an elongated mosquito, and the longer limbs and needle like nose made it stand out.

It was like it had been stretched out more than it should be. Its reach was longer because of that and it could temporarily use the manas it absorbed for a short while before it was forced to release them. Therefore, it constantly had to absorb new mana by stabbing in to the bodies of other monsters or in to softer materials.

The older they got the stronger their needle like appendages and the easier it was for them to stab in to materials or defenses to steal away manas to sue for their own.

When they used those manas, their wings could change colors and they could use their wings to send waves of that mana in a violent form at their prey or target. They also would never just fly away. They were persistent and annoying parasites that Midnight was getting more and more annoyed by since this was the thirty first one she had to kill!

Her claws cleaved through yet another set of legs trying to reach to her and stab in to her to draw out mana. It wasn’t just the needle like faces that could draw mana out. It was every strangely elongated limb.

The longer limbs should keep them further from the prey they went after so they didn’t need to be nearby and get killed. But Midnight was quick and she was annoyed.

These monsters didn’t stand a chance.

Yet, she was still making her speed increase while moving toward one of Walker’s golem bodies and Su. she felt that they were nearby and the growing misty like mana ahead of her that had been a strange speck she couldn’t see in the distance. Now it was massive and she wondered why she was also spotting spouts of flames along with larger shifting mounds of muddy soil.

It was an oddity she did not understand but the strength of the mana was what warned her senses that there was more. That the being ahead was something that might have the ability to truly fight beyond what she expected and what she might be able to handle.

Although, she did not have the feeling that it was cruel or violent. Instead, she felt that it was peaceful but strong. That if she offended it, then it would make sure she understood what wrong had been committed.

She also felt her bond with Su was stronger looking at it and felt that Su might be there. Training. Growing stronger. And potentially resting.

The mana ahead of her moved.

Midnight gathered her mana to prepare a potent dragon breath but before she could release it a thick whip of condensed earth and water cut through a few of the elongated mosquitoes. They were killed before they even had the chance to bother her.

She also sensed her body being probed by tentative mana. Like a child who just learned they could sense mana and wanted to see what everyone’s mana was around them. Or like someone who felt a familiar but slightly different mana and they wanted to know why it was different.

The change in mana that came next was a small tendril of flames, the blue hue of the fire was strange but Midnight also knew that it came from certain mana mixing. However, the reason she did not panic was because she also sensed Walker’s mana from it.

As she followed the mana and moved toward the misty mana even more, she felt a little pressure until she saw Walker’s golem standing there with a hand out.

"This is Midnight, she is family to me. Midnight, this is a very unique being called an intelligent spirit plane. Instead of becoming the central will of an elemental plane, it absorbed all the mana and became the plane itself. It is very kind and as long as we maintain proper respect it will do the same. It is also very curious so feel free to play and explore, it is interested in plants so if you have any seeds you should share."

Midnight turned her larger head in curiosity but did not say anything. She also held back any dragon breath she had held just in case. She trusted Walker and Su would not be making any risky attempts around a being this large. She could barely even see around this mass of mana. Let alone understand the unique environment within that created it due to the mixing of manas overall.

"You have grown again you know? Your scales look even tougher. All that running around with little dragon hatchlings who struggle to control any mana manipulation or test their dragon breath on everything they can made you stronger." Walker’s laughter as he said this produced a snort of displeasure from Midnight.

She had been very annoyed when they made her scales dirty, but knowing that she ahd gained stronger defensive abilities was also good. Let alonge knowing that Walker could easily use his golem bodies to sense her natural mana resistance helped.

She had noticed that the entire time she was within the elemental planes and now the outer elemental planes she had not been worried about the manas. Let alone the chaotic manas.

This just proved the point, but also showed her that she was growing well enough even without much to worry about in terms of the dangerous side of chaotic mana.

When she finally spoke, she asked the question that Walker knew was going to come. "Where is Su?"

"She is taking a walk. You can find her if you want, but I believe she is taking in the natural environment kept by the spirit here. She is training and letting herself take in the ideas she has been working on improving." he pointed in the direction that he sensed Su. Walker also turned back to the small pool of water in front of him where he had been organizing and trading different plant stems, seeds, and bulbs with the intelligent spirit plane.

It had remained amazed and curious about everything he showed it. Even when he brought out some ores with multiple affinities he realized that he enjoyed them. The mana within them were orderly and pure.

This went to tell Walker more about the innate nature of the intelligent spirit plane.

It enjoyed peace and calm. Chaotic manas were not something that it wished to deal with. Instead, it preferred the same and orderly mana that could promote life.

While Walker understood it did not actively control life mana, it had a decent amount within its massive body. That was the key to so many herbs and plants growing. It was also why it was alive and potentially one of the key factors that allowed it to accidentally become intelligent and what it was as a whole.

Thus, he focused on sharing the ways to push that life mana to help grow plants. To help the natural flow of mana like it did in the world. He had a theory that this new child like being could easily grow to send small spirit bodies to visit the world one day. It might even be able to condense its body if it learned space mana manipulation and move in to the world to visit as itself rather than a connected being made of elemental manas.

That aside though, Midnight was already moving through the swampy environment. The scents and sights keeping her focus shortly before she picked up the trail to where Su was wandering and contemplating her purpose and abilities.

As she came near Su though, Midnight could only stop for a moment. Su was standing peacefully with her eyes closed. Mana dense around her.

She clearly had not angered the spirit plane but was instead letting the manas moving around pass through and around her. She was feeling the peace and the calm to understand it. She was also standing with her shields raised and channeling the ambient mana and intent within them. Letting herself feel the changes in her own body to match the calm but multiply the will and strength of her mentality.

Midnight could only watch until Su sensed their bond flare by her being nearby Midnight. That was when she opened her eyes with a surprised smile blossoming on her face.
