Chapter 3040: 3040. Adventure!

"A cave?"

The scene was not what Walker had explained to Onyx before, but now it sort of made sense as he looked at it.

"You made it a cave so that the mana could be trapped better using rune formations that work with the stone and metals added to the cave stones to lock in mana. There is no leaking fire mana, water mana, light mana, or dark mana. Even the earth and wind mana are controlled so that they flow out little by little in exactly the ways they need to to be safe."

Now Onyx was seeing the ways that this was built.

For weeks the two had worked together to try and accomplish a goal that Onyx had for the hatchlings of his race.

He wanted an egg chamber that would be able to help the eggs gain a better natural resistance to all manas. This was very important for their futures so that they could have more opportunity when they were gaining classes and growing as a whole.

It also would give them a baseline of resistance skills or stats that would work to improve over years and years in their natural growth.

This wasn’t even saying out loud the benefits that came from them safely traveling in to the wilderness areas where manas and other natural environments could be dangerous to their survival. Just that alone made it even better.

This was also showing other races the benefits of nutrition and care for unborn children in any form that they developed before opening their eyes to the world. Many races had their methods, but Onyx had dedicated a significant number of the adults already within his fast growing race here.

Those that had been dormant for years and years had grown quicker than what some of the newer hatchlings were growing. Not because they were older eggs necessarily, but because they had the nutrition, mana, and the support allowing them to catch up. It was an interesting event that truly showed how balance and care for the world really made a huge difference.

As Onyx examined the cave created, he noted the rune formations that the rune carvers had spent days on.

Each was trapping mana but also promoting it to flow through various routes that would keep the entire larger cavern safe from any gathered mana and issues. It also helped keep temperature and fresh air moving in the same forms so that it was overall safer.

Along with all of this, there were various spots where guards could curl up and watch over the eggs. Meaning that the serpents would be safer and protected even when they were not directly watched by parents.

This idea was one that had made many of the serpents feel even better. They had all branched out and become important aspects within their own community. Some even traveled as adventurers or worked with Genesis in various forms. They would not be able to always watch over the eggs.

Besides, there were places for the eggs to hatch safely without causing any damage to other eggs as well. Not to mention the environment being filled with manas and protected from above also gave the newly hatched little serpent a feeling of protection. Besides seeing guards right away as well.

It was an ideal situation.

"It all came out very well. It was worth the time and I believe that when you have the entrance open for the hatchlings to move to the nursery areas with their parents there will be even more joy. The dark and light mana from the natural formed runes and the dungeon are perfect. It will be welcoming, more so than just about any other small village territory you could have chosen."

The support was exactly what Onyx needed and he was more glad than ever that Walker had managed to successfully create the golem bodies.

"How are things with you and Alice? I know you are still helping the demi-human farmers and outer territory guards." Changing the subject, Onyx brought Walker to a slight pause.

"It’s actually going really well. So many of the farmers are stubborn and older so they still do not trust potions as much. They do trust salves and teas though. So we have sold many of those recently. I would say that they will become the alchemy guild’s best customers. The dwarves are even there with their medical knowledge treating some of the demi-humans and starting a small revolution in bandaging and broken bone stabilization."

He had been watching this with Alice and supporting her through every matter she needed him for. However, he had been very glad to hear about the dwarven healers who came with them sharing and growing knowledge about the bandagies and practices for those who did not want magical healing or potions.

The dwarves had never relied on magic much because of their focus on crafting. The demi-humans had poor history due to cursed potions so now that other options were available they held tightly to them.

But more so, the demi-humans always had injuries due to their coliseums and fighting forward cultures. Meaning that they had methods different from the dwarven methods but still in line with what they already practiced.

"So you are seeing growth in unexpected ways. Alice must be glad to teach other healers about that. She brought many uneducated apprentices?" Onyx took a spot on Walker’s shoulders again in a smaller form and Walker knew he had just become the one carrying him. Luckily it was a golem body and not his main body this time so his shoulders wouldn’t get tired.

Not that he would ever complain.

"That’s exactly it. So far everywhere I am is going well. I just need to keep checking on projects since I am sure we are growing faster every day." Walker laughed a bit but he also saw that onyx wasn’t asking him about these things for a small reason.

"Brother, I know you are stressed and looking for your next steps. You need to make sure you are not pulling your mind apart in too many different directions. Even if you have the skills."

Pausing for a few moments, Walker spoke with a little more clarity.

"I am working a bit harder. But I feel like it is helping me more. The weight I realized was on me because I wasn’t growing the skills necessary and letting my body take too much stress has started to be relieved entirely. Multiple golem bodies split some of that pressure but more so i have a better mana flow and understanding of how to safely split my attention."

"I was missing skills to help me manage my situation and now I am repairing those bad habits. So I am doing well and I promise you that. I even just started to study some newly formed elemental planes and I think I understand how some people begin to learn how to craft them and alter the formation of manas."

Onyx seemed to accept this answer, but Walker was thankful that he was still being worried about it. He was also glad that he and Onyx had accomplished something that clearly worried Onyx for the future of the people he was now leading.

It was hard to believe it with how rapidly Onyx learned and grew that he too was younger. He was not the elder and wise old man that some leaders would be. Instead, he was young and learning and even still got in to fights with Midnight like any sibling would.

Yet, Onyx learned how to put aside issues and learn what was best for the people he gave everything to. That carried much more weight and showed who he was regardless of any situation.

"Since we have prepared everything here, why don’t I go on an adventure with you, Gil, and Remey for now? You could use my help in some ways too, right?" Walker looked Onyx on the eyes. He had expected that onyx would be too focused on the people he was caring for.

Yet, looking at things here, all the serpents had established a village and leaders of their own. Onyx has been building that and bringing knowledge he gathered here over and over. The eggs waiting to hatch were the key point he wanted to focus on, with that completed, he had time.

"I want to see what else I can do. I have time to challenge myself and see what the next unknown we make known is." This was the spark of curiosity and adventure that Walker knew everyone had. Onyx was just showing it clearly after holding it back while dedicating every bit of energy to others in different ways.

"I think this is a good plan. Remey and I are working on things with Gil but I think he wants to test his theories out and Remey will want to see the full scope of the project."
