Chapter 3042: 3042. Exploration here we come
This was the first time that Walker was giving this skill a proper test.
He knew that he could use the golem bodies as links to teleport items and even himself. But others? Now that would cause a lot more pressure on himself and the golem bodies.
He had just managed to convince Alice that he would be leaving for a while, too. She hadn’t been happy that he wanted to go out just as he had been working with his healing skills. Then again, she also knew that it would be easier for the younger inexperienced healers to learn more if he was not there.
What she and others would never admit, was that sometimes having Walker present made things a bit more challenging.
He would jump in and buff others to help them making skills easier to use. That was a good thing when they were in need. But when they had to overcome a challenge to keep growing there was a little bit of a lacking moment.
Alice also wanted to see how some of the youngest healers would act as they found that the back up support systems in their education were leaving them to work alone. That within itself could go a long way.
Many had not faced a truly challenging or harsh environment. Meaning that they had yet to be under a lot of pressure when they were learning how to handle the pressure of healing those who might need their entire focus. People who could lose their lives if they faltered for a second.
This wasn’t as serious, it was farmers with minor injuries and ailments. But this was the start of a proper journey.
The walking and constant work already wore at them. Making some tasks harder for them to complete. Thus they would end up feeling more strained and be better prepared for a calm and fluid approach even when times became tougher.
The teleportation skill once Walker made his way to Genesis doing the same thing was easier than he expected.
He had drawn a decent amount of mana but it was not as much as he expected for himself or the golem body he teleported to. He did need a moment to reset his focus and dexterity though. Coming face to face with yourself all of the sudden while still having your mind separated to move differently would upset anyone’s focus.
That was also beneficial training for him though. He felt the change and knew well that he would need to practice that adjustment in the future. Especially since he might teleport and appear near his golem bodies more and more often.
"Onyx, Remey, Gil. You are all ready, right?" He looked at the three who were surprised by his sudden appearance.
They had sensed the increase in mana density and felt the sudden pulse that came with Walker’s appearance. They had also seen the golem body reflect light through various rune formations proving that it could act as a perfect teleportation formation as well.
It was the simple fact that he had managed it and was now explaining that he would be able to do the same without a long period of rest or need for mana potions that really threw them out of their calm. That alone was unexpected.
Before when they had just learned about space mana and Walker was helping with the elemental teleportation rune formations, he had explained why it cost so much mana. He had also been the first example of overdrawing mana because of this and needing to rest more.
Now it was something that seemed just to take him a little moment to take a deep breath and nothing more. The change was drastic in comparison.
"If the golem bodies and my main body were not holding the weight of the elemental plane I am holding on to together, then I would struggle a bit, but using space mana is easier now. Especially since I have a connection to the multi dimensional storages I created. It makes a lot more sense that space is unique and foundational because of all the flexibility it allows to occur within and around it."
Before he even finished speaking, they felt the mana gathering much greater than before. Then, they felt the environment shift and the new feeling of manas in a much denser and tougher formant. They didn’t even feel the slight change that they would feel moving through the bridges to the elemental planes.
It was sudden and slightly shocking. To anyone else, it could have and would have caused harm. For them, they had the toughened and trained bodies to resist it.
Walker found himself a little stunned again, but he more easily returned to focus. This time he did show some strain in mana as he pulled a lot more of the abundant ambient manas near him. Su and Midnight were also in a stance of protection proving that the golem body had expended the majority of mana and had gathered a lot of it from the outer elemental planes as well.
The scene in front of them of clashing and clustering elemental planes in the distance was also stunning. It was like watching stars themselves change colors and forms to collide or break. Something nearly indescribable to someone who had never seen it. Yet to them, it was something that they could eventually grow used to with their travels to this unknown outer area of what was known as fact.
"This is where we have been waiting. We met an interesting spirit, saw some small elemental planes, and fought some weird monsters that thought they could hurt us with light mana." Su summed everything up in simple terms, but she also looked confident in her stance.
Remey noticed the slight change in how Su stood first. She gave a knowing smile before leaping forward trying to punch her.
Not abnormal for Remey, but abnormal since she was doing it right away.
But they all knew that she was testing Su a bit. She wanted to see what Su had worked on and the resulting push of mana and will behind Su’s shield deflected the punch easily.
It was like she had just brushed aside a hanging branch which opened Remey up to be caught by Su. "You held back way too much." She laughed a bit as Remey struggled to escape the sudden capture.
"I just wanted to see if you were ready." Her embarrassed objections made everyone laugh, but as soon as it happened Remey was back to her serious and grumbling attitude.
"I knew you were training here but you got a whole lot stronger. I take it you figured out some points you were missing that helped your skills work better?" Su gave Gil a nod. He figured he was right on the money with this guess.
"Walker mentioned you were also... well Walker’s golem body he just teleported away said you were all working on something too?" Su paused as she watched the golem body use space mana. Walker shrugged, he knew he didn’t need it here too and also that he wanted to ensure he could still manage the new teleportation skills in this way.
"We were. I am looking at the origin of elven skills and how they survived because of them. Remey said Ignus might use the idea too. I know Alma is having a few people use the idea and she is still resting while waiting for reports. But she wants results so I can teach others how I did it."
The small bit of fear in his voice went to prove he worried Alma would yell at him if he didn’t succeed. But allowing him to venture out and accomplish this just went to show her trust in him.
"If I can prove it and find some original skills from ancient times we might have a lot more to study." He was beginning to get energized again and Walker had to place a hand on his shoulder to slow him down.
"First we will have explored the cluster of elemental planes clashing over there. Weaker monsters. Unknown materials. Plus some mixing manas calm and chaotic. Everything we need to bring back and show off." His own energy was clear.
This time though, Onyx raised his head before moving and giving up his comfy spot on Walker’s shoulders. He preferred Walker’s shoulders but was interested in seeing this new potential territory to explore.
No one from the world had seen it. So why would he ignore it? He was going to see it all first. He even took his full larger form to move faster ahead of the others.
"No fair!" Midnight growled out and rushed after him. She took her dragon form again trying to catch up before she fell behind.
The others could only realize it was time to explore now rather than later.
