Chapter 1292: Hidden Child Of The Heavens?

Chaos Betroth simply sat to the side with her thoughts churning. Unlike the Above disciples who were already talking and chatting about the matter, her mind went to a far darker side. After all, she couldn’t help but consider the probability of something happening to Null Anthony under her watch.

Like the River Of Night kidnapping Anthony under The Silent Drop’s command and faking his death.

She wasn’t fooled by the wooden talisman The Silent Drop had given Anthony. That could be just to remove the suspicion on her in the event that something ultimately does happen to Anthony. After all, they were all old schemers here, every little move or favor could go deeper than one might know.

But Chaos Betroth wasn’t truly bothered, deep within her heart, she wished something would happen. If the Vanishing Reapers were going to make their moves within The Sleeping Hollow, then at least, the River Of Night Organization should make their own move outside The Sleeping Hollow. That would make things more interesting. As long as they didn’t send an Eternal Apex, she had nothing to fear.

’They would make a move after The Underground Tomb closes,’ she concluded as she crossed her leg over the other and closed her eyes with a smile, totally misunderstanding the situation. But it wasn’t her fault. Things like these usually happened, it wasn’t new, it was understandable she thought this way.

Lora Vake, who was sitting directly opposite Anthony, simply shook her head with a sigh as she spoke in an exasperated tone.

"You are probably the first and only person who has rejected being a Higher One’s Eternal Half," her voice barely above a whisper as though she didn’t want The Silent Drop to hear her.

But she knew it was futile, if The Silent Drop wanted to hear what they were saying, then her whispers were no different from shouting.

"For real, when you rejected her the third time, I thought we were going to get killed and wiped out," Jerry spoke as he wiped an unseen sweat from his head.

Anthony simply shook his head as he spoke, "you all are just overreacting," his tone amused.

The Above disciples were rendered speechless at Anthony’s words, then the next moment they shook their heads as they all suddenly had the same thought, but Chu Feng voiced it out.

"I don’t know if it’s because of the mentality that you built up over time due to your path of bloodshed to ascension that makes you so calm, or if it’s that you just don’t understand how powerful Eternal Apexes truly are because it’s been just a week since you ascended," he stated.

"Two weeks and three days," Anthony corrected, his tone still calm as he counted the ten days they spent on the journey to the River Of Night Organization, which made it seventeen days, hence two weeks and three days.

Anthony’s eyes couldn’t help but stay on Chu Feng, who had just spoken. From what he knew, this was the third on the Above disciple ranking, just behind Tory Hale and Lora Vake. Anthony couldn’t help but suspect that this guy was some sort of hidden child of the Heavens and stuff like that.

After all, in the Xianxia novels he had read back on Earth, their main characters were always named Chu Feng or something along those lines. Each of them possessed immeasurable luck and some immense cheat. Anthony couldn’t help but wonder what cheat Chu Feng had. A system? Some ancient being above the Eternal Apex that had likely touched the Universe Level then died, then hid from his enemies by sealing his soul in a ring? Anthony’s eyes shifted towards Chu Feng’s space ring.

He couldn’t help but wonder if the boy was hiding his power, hiding himself perfectly in third place, definitely within the top, but not at the top, a perfect disguise. After all, all Xianxia novels’ MCs knew how to play the pig to eat the tiger with Oscar-level acting.

He was tempted to use Thought Conception and find out. But alas, he decided not to, there was no fun in that, it was best to watch and find out for himself ever so slowly. After all, he could just be overthinking it and everything.

He sighed and shook his head as he shook his head, deciding to forget about the matter. If he caught Chu Feng staring into space, then it was a system cheat. If he saw Chu Feng’s expression changing for no reason, then it was a magical old Grandma or Grandpa.

"Sighs... I wonder why things keep falling to people who don’t want them," Jerry couldn’t help but comment as he saw how Anthony had thrown the talisman into his space ring as though it was something random.

"Too bad you aren’t as handsome as Anthony," Hillary interjected, causing Jerry’s face to twitch as he felt like punching the guy’s mouth and breaking a few teeth.

But alas, that wasn’t possible with Chaos Betroth watching over them.

Lora Vake, who was sitting opposite Anthony, added, "only an idiot would think that something as simple as handsomeness and beauty can move a Higher One," she shook her head.

At her words, they couldn’t help but remember what Lora had said to them after they had introduced themselves to Anthony, with Anthony walking away.

They remembered Lora advising them that Anthony was both a powerhouse and a connection they needed. They couldn’t help but thank their stars that they had followed her advice early. After all, trying to build rapport with Anthony after an Eternal Apex had come bowing at his feet would simply be too shameless, and almost none of them here were shameless.

Tory Hale rose from his own seat as he walked towards Anthony with a smile, "Anthony, you know we’re friends, right? We are bros, forget these people, they can only bow at our feet."

Anthony arched an eyebrow as he gazed at Tory Hale as he asked, "And who are you again?"

Tory clutched his heart as he spoke, "the betrayal... you’ve found a super-hot sugar mummy and now you’ve abandoned me," he spoke in a mock painful tone.

Everyone was stunned as they wondered if Tory had gone mad. If The Silent Drop heard him, she would kill him ever so slowly by drawing out all the water from his body. But Tory had already anticipated that The Silent Drop wouldn’t bother herself listening in to their conversation. Such things were below her. And indeed he was right.

Seeing Anthony not play around, Tory simply shook his head with a chuckle as he spoke, "let’s see the talisman, after all, it’s not every day that one gets to see the talisman of a Higher Entity."

Anthony took out the talisman and passed it to Tory, who immediately began to stare at it in fascination. The rest of the Above disciples gathered as they all stared at the wooden talisman.

Anthony couldn’t help but wonder if these were the same disciples who were sitting on their high horse when he had first met them. He shook his head as he stopped thinking about it.
