Chapter 1369: Laughter
Chapter 1369: Laughter
Anthony stared down towards Jerry, Tory Hale, Chu Feng, Lora Vake, and Chaos Betroth. Each and every one of them was exhausted, their Origin Essence depleted to the last drop, their Laws humming around them with greater intensity, as it was simply their Laws that kept them moving until this moment.
This was the immense difference between Laws and Origin Essence.
Although one could run out of Origin Essence, they couldn’t run out of Law, as all Law needed was their comprehension of it to manifest it to whatever stage they had progressed to.
As Anthony stared at the five of them, they stared back at him as though he was some Higher Existence that had come down to bless them with his existence.
They didn’t know what to say or how to react, after all, how would one react when they found out that someone who had barely ascended a month ago from a random Lower Galaxy, someone they had interacted with, possessed the strength to wipe out Eternal Apexes?
What could they possibly say to him? At this moment, they didn’t know, as every word, sound, and language in existence failed them.
Jerry’s mind couldn’t help but go back towards the Nature’s Savant. At this moment, he finally understood that Anthony had definitely killed that Eternal Apex and hadn’t just escaped. As he was lost in thought, he and the rest of the Above disciples suddenly remembered when Anthony had asked them how they would react if he told them he could take on all the Eternal Apexes at the same time.
Thinking of it, they started to see signs that they’d missed, one of them being how he was able to erase the presence of the Ancient Behemoths that fell on their airship minutes before they entered The Sleeping Hollow. They should have known from that very moment.
Chaos Betroth, who was already familiar with a fraction of Anthony’s abnormalities, was also bamboozled. She was confident in Anthony, after all, if the boy said he could take on every single Eternal Apex present, then he could. She just hadn’t expected it to be this easy; she hadn’t expected him to be back so soon.
And although she knew that even if Anthony was injured, he could just heal and regenerate, she had a gut feeling that this abnormal boy floating before her hadn’t even been injured once.
Then a memory and understanding struck them all collectively. Just before they entered the River Of Night Territory, a Higher One had approached Anthony and wanted to be his Eternal Half. At the time, they were dumbfounded that Anthony had rejected the proposal; they had thought he was a bit mad to do something like that.
But now, they understood. Why would someone need to marry an Eternal Apex when they had the power not to suppress one Eternal Apex, but kill over a hundred Eternal Apexes?
Anthony’s feet touched the ground where the five of them were seated. He could understand what they were feeling, and could basically read their thoughts with just their facial expressions.
A smile touched his lips as he spoke in a teasing tone.
"What? Haven’t you guys seen a handsome man?"
He put one hand on his waist as he teased them, as despite the power he had just displayed, he still remained the Anthony that he was. There was no sudden change in attitude or anything of the sort.
The five of them were dumbfounded at Anthony’s words; they hadn’t expected this to be the first thing that Anthony was going to say after everything that had just happened.
"Pffftttt!!! Muahahahahaha!!!"
Tory Hale suddenly burst out laughing. He held his face with the only arm he had left as genuine tears fell from his eyes.
As he laughed, the others joined him in their laughter as they couldn’t hold it back either. Even Chaos Betroth, who barely smiled, and when she did, it was when she was looking forward to a fight, was even laughing at this moment.
Anthony didn’t laugh. He simply smiled as he watched them, saying nothing as he simply just stood.
"Haaaa!!! To think that would be the first thing you would say after everything that just happened is truly insane."
Lora Vake stated as she sat down. She was missing her two arms at the moment, but she seemed not to feel the pain at the moment.
Anthony smiled, his eyes fixing on Lora Vake as he replied candidly.
"But I’m the most handsome person you’ve ever seen, right?"
He asked rhetorically in a mock boastful tone.
"Sure. Sure."
Lora Vake agreed, giving in to Anthony’s words.
Although none of them said it, they were extremely grateful to Anthony. After all, because of him, they had all fought till the very last moment, giving it everything they had and more. They should have fallen long ago, but they survived till this point because of him, specifically because of their Shadow Soldiers summon of his.
Although they didn’t know how the ability worked and all that, they didn’t ask any questions about it, even if it was their first time seeing it.
Although all of them felt like saying thanks, none of them did, not because they were ungrateful, but because there were times when saying thanks or thank you would make the air feel awkward and the like. They were sure that someone as perceptive as Anthony could feel and understand how grateful they were.
And indeed, Anthony did. He didn’t need to hear their thanks, he didn’t need it, as he never did the things he did for them.
’The Upper Galaxy was pretty fun.’
Anthony thought to himself as he gazed towards the sky for a moment, then shook his head.
"Let’s get you guys healed, shall we?"
Anthony stated as he walked towards them in calm steps. As he arrived, he snapped his fingers as the Law Of Life hummed around him. It slammed into their bodies, their limbs regenerating easily, bones snapping forward from their injuries, muscle fibres wrapping around the bones as tendons and blood vessels also appeared. Flesh covered the limbs as the healing session soon ended.
