Chapter 1397: Fruitless Investment

Chapter 1397: Fruitless Investment

’System, are you trying to take the effects of my Title for yourself because they are too good and tempting?’

Anthony asked as he stared at the messages before him.

The system seemed to freeze for a moment at the accusation before replying.

[The system did not steal or take anything]

’Then why don’t I get any boost like the others? Surely, you won’t tell me it’s because I’m an Anomaly or something along those lines, right?’

The system didn’t hesitate to respond to Anthony’s words.

[The Host’s Title didn’t come without effects because the Host is an Anomaly, but simply because they are... redundant]

[In simple words, the Host is simply too powerful for these effects to be of any use]

[The Host can only blame himself]

Anthony sat speechless once more, then a smile appeared on his face yet again as he shook his head.

It was quite ironic. His Title was "The Exception to Everything," and yet, here he was, once again being an exception to this too. Everyone received various boosts ranging from ridiculously powerful to almost nothing, but he received literally nothing, as he was simply too strong.

He truly was an exception to everything, and it couldn’t have been more fitting.

He placed another piece of food in his mouth as he continued to chew. He couldn’t help but become curious about what boost he would have actually received from the Title if he weren’t so strong.

But if he did receive a boost, would that still make him an exception to everything?

’Hey, System, when others Transcend, like The Lover of Death, does their Title become useless, or does it still grant the same boost?’

He asked as the question came to mind. Although he could have just used Authority of Information or Thought Conception to find this out, he didn’t, as he was already conversing with the system.

[Yes, the Titles are still useful, and all boosts are retained, but they become somewhat marginalized because that is another plane of power that is more powerful than the Ecliptica Galaxy]

The system explained.

Anthony simply nodded, as that made perfect sense. It was kind of like his own Ascension. He, who had been overpowered and ridiculously powerful back in the Acarnis Galaxy, was treated like a mere child the moment he Ascended. He hadn’t even managed to inflict a single injury on his opponent and could only escape to places like the Divine Realm.

After a couple of minutes, Anthony was done eating and admiring the sky. It was already getting late, so he rose to his feet and returned to his room, as he wanted to sleep until the following day.

He slept like a baby without a worry in the world when night descended. But unlike him, who was enjoying a peaceful sleep, the Null Sect wasn’t nearly as peaceful, as various people, bandits, and individuals who didn’t understand the difference between the sky and the earth tried to infiltrate the Null Sect.

However, Null Nathaniel and the five Core Elders had already made sufficient preparations. They had moved personally, stationing themselves across the entire Floating City just in case an opponent whom the guards couldn’t defeat appeared.

To the Core Elders and the Sect Master, as long as it wasn’t an Eternal Apex, they could handle everything and everyone else. Even Progenitors, who were a step below Eternal Apexes, weren’t much of a threat to them.

More than one thousand people died within the Null Floating City, as they had all been killed before they could carry out any major infiltration. Although they all possessed good artefacts and the like, such items were still useless unless they were of the Genesis or Origin Grade.

However, these people weren’t forces from Major or Minor Powerhouse Organizations, but merely independent contractors.

The next morning arrived swiftly, and the day began as though nothing had happened, as if over a thousand enemies hadn’t been erased. Ordinary people in the city went about their lives, and the Disciples continued their training, but the discussions about Anthony never died down.

Besides, Null Nathaniel had made an announcement as the Sect Master that shook the entire Null Sect to its core.

He had named Anthony the Sixth Core Elder: The Exception to Everything.

It was shocking to everyone, but at the same time, even they came to understand that this development was simply a matter of time, as it was impossible for Anthony to remain an Above Disciple.

The Inner and Core Disciples who had challenged Anthony earlier and lost miserably became shameless. They started boasting that they had once fought The Exception to Everything, and not only that, but unlike the Eternal Apexes who had been killed, they had survived and were still alive today.

The other Inner and Core Disciples who hadn’t challenged Anthony could only click their tongues in jealousy while telling these Inner and Core Disciples to challenge Anthony again to prove themselves.

All in all, it was a lively day, as Anthony’s name remained a constant topic of discussion. Many women started dressing up and exposing their skin, hoping that Anthony would pass by and glance in their direction. Some of them used their life savings to buy the best skincare products and makeup their money could afford.

This was an investment. If it paid off, they would become the lover of someone as powerful as Anthony, and their return on investment would be immense.

But unfortunately for them, they were bound to fail.

Were any of them as beautiful as Vega?

They wished.

Did any of them possess an overpowered father and mother?

In their dreams.

Did any of them have a peculiar Divine Flame that doted on them?

Not at all.

And were any of them as overpowered and talented as Vega?

Most definitely not.

They should have just used the money for something else instead of wasting it, but alas, they couldn’t be blamed. This was simply how life worked.

There were no ceremonies or anything of the sort to recognise Anthony as the Sixth Core Elder. No parade, no party, just a simple announcement. That was all that was needed. Whoever disagreed should contact the Sect Master.

Anthony’s eyes fluttered open to a new day, as he had slept until noon. He yawned as he stretched on his bed. He made his way towards the bathroom, as he had already changed it from whatever style of bathroom people here used to the type he was accustomed to.

After a nice bath, he stepped out of his room. As he walked out, Jarod appeared within his line of sight. Jarod immediately bowed as he greeted him.

"Good afternoon, My Lord."

His tone was calm, yet brimming with excitement.

Anthony nodded without the slightest bit of curiosity as to why Jarod was excited.

"Congratulations on becoming the Sixth Core Elder, My Lord."

Jarod continued as he gazed at Anthony with a smile.

Anthony arched an eyebrow as he wondered where Jarod had heard this. Seeing the confusion on Anthony’s face, Jarod explained that the Sect Master had made the announcement that morning.

Anthony returned to the table by the window where he had eaten the previous day. Jarod served him green tea with a leaf floating on its surface while the liquid rippled calmly.
