Chapter 1398: Point Taken
Chapter 1398: Point Taken
After serving the green tea, Jarod proceeded to speak once more as he took a step back.
"My Lord, the other Above Disciples have visited about three times each today, each wanting to congratulate you, but you’ve been busy, so I told them I would contact them the moment you were free."
He informed Anthony of Jerry’s, Lora Vake’s, Chu Feng’s, and Tory Hale’s visits.
Jarod didn’t dare say that Anthony was sleeping, so he simply said his Master was busy. Although, if he had said he was sleeping, Anthony wouldn’t have reacted, as there was nothing wrong with that.
"Should I contact them now that you are out?"
He asked for permission, as he couldn’t just inform anyone that Anthony was free. What if Anthony didn’t want to meet or see them? What if he simply wanted some alone time today?
Although he had only been with Anthony for barely five days before Anthony headed to the Sleeping Hollow, he had already begun to understand the type of person Anthony was.
A lazy, carefree guy who didn’t like anything related to stress or work.
Personally, Jarod had asked himself over the past few days how someone like Anthony had become so strong and ridiculous. The boy had just Ascended, then did nothing but eat and sleep, and then, boom, he slaughtered Eternal Apexes? In what universe did that make sense?
His Master was the complete opposite of all the hard-working geniuses he had heard of and seen. But he dared not voice his thoughts or even express them on his face. Neither did he dare follow Anthony’s footsteps, so he simply stuck to his own intense training regimen.
"You may inform them."
Anthony stated as he took a sip of his tea. He had nothing to do, so there was no need to avoid them.
Jarod nodded at Anthony’s words, then turned and walked away as he moved to contact the personal servants under the Above Disciples.
’Do I have to move now that I’m the Sixth Elder?’
He thought to himself as he put down the cup. When he first Ascended, he had been in the area designated for Core Elders, but was later moved to the Above Disciples’ Area, and now he was moving back to the Core Elder Area.
The back-and-forth movement was tiring, despite him not having to do anything, as Jarod would be the one handling the relocation.
A few minutes passed before Anthony sensed eight new presences on his mountain, as the Above Disciples had arrived with their personal servants.
Anthony rose to his feet and stepped out of the room where he had been sitting, the cup of green tea vanishing. Although Jarod could simply welcome them and bring them in, he still decided to welcome them himself. After all, to a certain extent, they could be considered friends.
Standing outside, his eyes fell on the group. At this moment, he was dressed in a hoodie and baggy joggers.
The Above Disciples and their personal servants were surprised to see Anthony dressed in this style of clothing. They had never actually seen anything like it, but they didn’t comment on it, as they understood that it was probably a style of dressing from the Acarnis Lower Galaxy.
Arriving before Anthony, the four Above Disciples and their four personal servants bowed with the same respect they would have shown any other Core Elder as they spoke.
"We greet the Sixth Core Elder."
Their tones were respectful and calm.
Although the Above Disciples might have become acquainted with Anthony over the past month, it didn’t mean they wouldn’t acknowledge his position as a Core Elder or simply gloss over it. While they obviously wouldn’t greet Anthony like this every single day, it was important to do so at this particular moment.
Anthony raised his hand as he spoke.
"You can drop the respectful act and stand. We don’t need that between us."
He shook his head as he returned his hand to his hoodie pocket.
"Let’s go in."
He stated as he turned around and entered the cottage once more.
The Above Disciples wore small smiles as they followed behind Anthony with calm steps. Anthony led them to his favourite spot, where four additional chairs had already been arranged by the proactive Jarod, who didn’t need to be instructed to carry out his task.
Everyone settled into their seats with calm ease, as no trace of awkwardness existed between them. As for their personal servants, they were already with Jarod, having their own discussion.
Jarod walked forward with a tray, serving everyone various juices and teas and allowing them to make their choices.
As Jarod placed everything on the table and left, Anthony spoke in a calm tone.
"So, where are the congratulatory gifts?"
His eyes focused on the four people before him.
Jerry, Lora Vake, Chu Feng, and Tory Hale froze in their seats. They hadn’t prepared any sort of gift. What could they have gotten Anthony that he didn’t already have? What could they possibly gift him that would stir his emotions and make him happy to receive it in the first place?
Anthony sighed as he shook his head in mock disappointment.
"This is the problem the rich and powerful have. Everyone assumes that just because they are rich and can afford anything, they no longer appreciate gifts or anything else. People are always expecting the rich to give, but never actually thinking of giving them something."
At Anthony’s words, the four of them wore expressions of guilt, as that had been exactly what they had done.
A soft smile appeared on Anthony’s face as he continued.
"Well, don’t overthink it. I was never expecting anything from you guys. I’m just educating you in case there’s a next time. You can never know."
"Point taken."
Lora Vake said as she made a mental note to correct such an attitude. She immediately understood that it didn’t have to be expensive or some heaven-defying treasure or whatnot. As long as she brought something thoughtful, then it was enough.
The other Above Disciples nodded as they also made mental notes.
