Chapter 4516: Ink Lake
Chapter 4516: Ink Lake
"We are close," said Dynvar and put the tool back.
We should be able to reach there in an hour, but it might take two, depending on the number of broken formations and monsters.
Both of them are in enough numbers to make us adopt a very cautious approach.
We are in a very dangerous place and going to an even more dangerous place. The place the tool is leading us is one of the most dangerous ones here.
We took one cautious step after another. Stopping when a monster passed by us.
Every monster here is Prime, not weak Prime. Which isn’t surprising, the corruption is so strong that a few Primes could survive here.
Prime’s like Dynvar’s grandmother wouldn’t last more than a minute in this environment; that’s how lethal this corruption is.
A few minutes passed, and I put my hand forward, and she stopped.
He didn’t ask; we have done this enough times, so she stopped asking questions. If I had stopped her, it means there is something in here.
Most of the time, it is monsters, but this time, it is not.
"Look closely into the ground," I said to her. A few seconds later, her eyes widened. There is a broken formation in the ground.
It is deep, but its power is touching the ground. If we had stepped on it, we might have triggered it.
That is something we do not want to do, especially here, where every formation contains enough energy to vaporize in an instant.
Though I noticed, the broken formations here are a lot stable than those outside.
No matter how stable they are, they are still broken formations. They are unstable by their very nature and will trigger if we do something that triggers them.
We sidestepped it and resumed the journey toward the destination that is getting closer with every step we take.
Minutes passed, and soon, we reached the area where the corruption began to get denser with every step. It was happening before, but not at this level.
We are barely fifteen minutes away from it. We will see it soon.
’The number of broken formations is lessening," said Dynvar. "No lessening, they are bigger here," I replied, looking at the broken formation the size of the duplex.
In other areas, there are very few broken formations of this size, but they are everywhere in here.
It makes things easier, by a general rule. The bigger the formation, the safer it is, but it also makes it more dangerous because if something like this ever exploded.
Then one could forget every surviving.
I could see the proofs around me, that formation of this size had exploded before and they had created a massive disruption in this place.
Soon, we could see the hills and moved toward them. Reaching them a few minutes later.
It didn’t take us long to reach the top, and when we did, we saw our destination—a lake nestled between a bowl made of the hills.
Filled, not with the water, but the pure corruption that had taken liquified form.
I had seen liquid corruption, but that had not been pure. It had been watered with corruption ingrained; this, on the other hand, is pure corruption.
The name of the lake is Ink Lake; it’s the perfect name for it.
It isn’t just the corruption in there, but also monsters—very powerful ones and resources.
I could see the pure white lotuses that were floating on it. They are lotuses that look like they are made of energy instead of substance.
It is right; it is a semi-light plant, it’s called unsullied lux lotus. A very powerful resource. If one consumes it, it will provide them with all kinds of benefits.
Though there are two main benefits of it, the first is cleansing, and the second is breakthrough. If consumed before the breakthrough, it increases the chances a lot.
They are the only resources on it; they are like lotuses, but extreme.
Lotus usually does not let other plants grow around them, but this one wipes them out.
Even one will be immensely helpful to me, but it is an extremely dangerous thing to do. There are very powerful monsters in there, and they will sense it.
It is why I am pushing those thoughts away as they entered my mind, but they are coming back over and over. Enticing me, telling thousands of ways, it would be helpful to me.
"The lake is powerful enough to kill us," said Dynvar breathlessly.
A moment later, she took out the tool and looked through it, before a frown appeared on her face.
"We will need to get closer," she said, and a moment later, we began to move. The corruption is extremely strong, and as we get closer.
I could tell that Dynvar’s defences were rapidly reaching the limit. The corruption is too powerful.
"Can you handle it?" I asked. "For now," she replied, and we kept moving toward the lake until we reached around fifty meters away from it.
It is the closest we could go without being sensed by a monster. Even this is too close.
This is likely the limit of Dynvar; I am surprised that she could come so close. Even those similar to her strength might not be able to.
She took out the tool and began to look through it, and a minute later, her expression turned bad.
"What is it?" I asked. "I will need to get close," she replied, with an expression like she had eaten something.
"At the edge?" I asked, and she shook her head. "No further," she replied.
"Oh," I said.
She might push herself to the edge with method and some means, but she could not enter the lake. Only Silver Primes could survive it, or Prime monsters that grew up in it.
"What is the plan to stop the leak?" I asked, and she took out a palm-sized blue triangular tool, which was made of pipes.
It looked simple enough, but far from it.
"There is a large circuit below the lake; this will fix it. One didn’t need to go to the floor, but one just needed to be close for the circuit to sense it, and it would pull this part to itself," she replied.
