My Talent's Name Is Generator

Chapter 1149: The Spell

Chapter 1149: The Spell

The moment I descended above the school of stingrays, I realized the visions from the All-Knowing Eyes hadn’t even begun revealing the full picture.

There weren’t forty creatures.

There were hundreds.

The enormous stingrays moved through the Soul Sea with astonishing coordination, each maintaining the exact same distance from every other member of the school. From above, the formation resembled a living constellation drifting through an endless ocean, every graceful movement perfectly synchronized despite there being no visible leader guiding them.

Their backs were unlike those of ordinary Soul Sea creatures.

Yellow and deep sapphire patterns spread across their enormous bodies, interrupted by crimson lines that constantly shifted as they swam. At first glance, they appeared to be nothing more than naturally occurring markings.

The longer I observed them...The less convinced I became.

Something about those crimson lines felt deliberate.

Moments later the familiar silhouette of Gerald’s vessel silently approached from behind, maintaining a respectful distance exactly as I had instructed. One after another, the expedition leaders stepped onto the deck before taking flight toward my position.

Kaelra reached me first.

"So?"

Her golden eyes immediately dropped toward the creatures below.

"Is this the place?"

I slowly shook my head.

"I don’t think so."

Her expression became puzzled.

"Then why stop?"

"Because..."

My gaze never left the moving patterns.

"...the answer is swimming beneath us."

Within minutes everyone had gathered in the air above the enormous school.

The Soul Sea rolled quietly beneath us while hundreds of giant stingrays continued their endless migration, seemingly unconcerned by the Saints observing them from above.

Gerald adjusted his spectacles.

"I’ve spent half my life studying formations."

He folded his arms while narrowing his eyes.

"And I can confidently say.....those markings aren’t random."

Several leaders immediately focused on the creatures more carefully.

"They’re changing," Sue observed.

Her clock-like eyes began rotating slowly.

"The crimson lines aren’t remaining fixed."

"They’re shifting every few seconds."

Aster Essari silently descended closer to the surface before extending one hand toward the nearest stingray. Threads of pale essence drifted downward before gently brushing against the glowing markings.

His expression changed almost instantly.

"...Interesting."

Everyone looked toward him.

"The inscriptions aren’t formed from Soul Force. They’re condensed Essence."

Kaelra frowned.

"Essence? Inside the Null Realm?"

Aster nodded thoughtfully.

"Whoever created these creatures.....understood Essence well enough to preserve it across countless ages."

Aelion had remained silent until then.

The Elven leader suddenly floated downward beside one of the larger stingrays, carefully studying the intricate markings stretching across its back.

After several minutes he spoke.

"They aren’t merely runes."

He looked back toward us.

"They’re characters."

"What?"

"They belong to a language."

He gently traced one glowing symbol with his finger without disturbing it.

"Ancient. Older than any script preserved by the Elven Sanctuary. But unquestionably....a language."

The revelation caused everyone to become noticeably more interested. If the markings formed a language...then they carried information.

Not simply power.

Gerald suddenly snapped his fingers.

"Wait."

His eyes widened.

"The patterns!"

He immediately looked around at every stingray surrounding us.

"They aren’t identical."

I looked more carefully. He was right. Each creature possessed slightly different inscriptions. Some symbols repeated. Others appeared only once.

No individual stingray carried the complete sequence.

Gerald slowly smiled.

"...Of course. They’re fragments."

He laughed quietly to himself.

"I’ve been looking at them individually when I should have been looking at them collectively."

His finger pointed toward the entire school.

"Each stingray carries only a portion of the formation."

"The complete pattern..."

He looked around at the countless creatures surrounding us.

"...exists only when they’re viewed together."

A quiet murmur spread through the expedition.

Even Sue’s eyes brightened.

"A living formation..."

She whispered.

"I’ve never seen anything like it."

Neither had I.

But now...

At least we knew where to begin.

I slowly closed my eyes.

"Right to Insight."

The world immediately transformed.

Every distracting detail vanished. The ocean disappeared. The bodies of the stingrays themselves faded into translucent outlines.

Only the glowing inscriptions remained.

Hundreds upon hundreds of separate sequences floated before my perception like fragments of an impossible puzzle. Symbols continuously shifted as the creatures swam, rearranging themselves into new combinations before breaking apart once again.

Ordinary observation would have required years.

Perhaps centuries.

Right to Insight began reducing that time with every passing second.

Relationships emerged.

Repeated sequences became obvious.

Broken structures gradually linked together.

Far above me, I vaguely heard the others continuing their own discussion.

"The sequence repeats every forty-seven seconds."

Sue’s voice remained calm.

"No..."

Dream corrected gently.

"Every forty-seven point three."

Gerald immediately pulled out several sheets of parchment, furiously sketching symbols faster than most people could read them.

"Marcus, Samuel."

He didn’t even look up.

"I need elevation."

Without asking why, the two Ironheart Saints flew thousands of meters into the sky, giving Gerald a far broader perspective of the school’s movement.

Meanwhile the Griffon scouts circled around the edges of the formation, ensuring none of the stingrays strayed beyond observation.

The Dragons, however...

Had little interest in runes.

They had noticed something else.

Kaelra’s reptilian eyes narrowed toward the darkness below.

"We’re being watched."

Almost the instant she spoke, the Soul Sea exploded.

A colossal serpent-like creature erupted from beneath the surface with jaws large enough to swallow dozens of stingrays in a single bite. Before it could complete the attack, Kaelra vanished.

A deafening explosion echoed across the sea as her fist collided with the monster’s skull.

The creature didn’t even have time to roar.

Its body folded around the impact before crashing back into the Soul Sea with enough force to raise waves hundreds of meters high.

"Finally!"

Kaelra laughed.

"I was beginning to think this journey had become boring."

Elsewhere another enormous predator burst from the depths, only to be intercepted by the Demon Lord’s blazing spear before a third disappeared beneath countless arrows released by the Griffon Chief.

No one panicked. The scholars continued studying.

The warriors continued protecting.

For the first time since leaving the Ironheart Settlement...

The expedition was functioning exactly as it had been envisioned.

High above it all, I remained motionless.

Right to Insight continued weaving together hundreds of fragmented inscriptions, until slowly...

Very slowly...

The scattered runes began curving inward into a circle.

A summoning circle.

The realization struck me like lightning.

I slowly opened my eyes.

A smile spread across my face.

"We’re not searching for the gate..."

I whispered.

"We’re searching for the spell that calls it."
