Chapter 2988: The Realm of Oceanus IV

The changes in the situation also made Altum a bit uneasy as the ocean suddenly becoming at peace meant the calm before the storm. If they actually get caught up in an ocean war then it would become quite difficult. They would be at the mercy of the two sides since there is literally no dedicated war area in the deep ocean.

They need to be careful but they also need to be quick about it. Adrian might be able to teleport them to the location above the Forbidden Ocean but that will only make them prime targets for the monsters there. Some ocean monsters actually like to snipe bird monsters above the ocean for food after all. In the end, they can only depend of themselves to swim towards the location that Renyu will point them in.

Adrian did not have any difficulty in the ocean while swimming or rather he really had no difficulty at all. Wisteria adjusted her size to a small mobile fortress with her crystal tree morphing into a chair. She also created this mana barrier around it to make sure that the currents will not even touch Adrian’s body at all. He was like inside a mobile personal submarine that drives on its own.

"I thought that I have seen it all but it seems that I was mistaken. Is being with your guild leader always like this?" Renyu asked Altum.

"This is actually one of the milder ones that we experience. We already grown a tolerance for things that are odd because of the guild leader to the point that we no longer question sudden twists in our quests. He has really defied our expectations on what a player could do." Altum stated as his expression made it look like there were indeed things that shocked him before but are now normal to him.

"I see. It seems joining your guild is a place where being weird is the norm. Other guilds often call the Pantheon Guild a group of abnormal monsters after all." Renyu commented with a small chuckle as she finds that interesting.

"Well, they are not wrong that you can say that we are abnormal but we are just like any independent guilds that do not participate in the guild rankings. Our guild members do not have an interest in that. We even held a vote if they want to participate but all of them said no. We value our time to move more compared to being in a strict regimen after all." Altum stated as he described their guild as merely quirky which made Renyu’s eyebrow twitch.

"If having a single guild member be equivalent to a small size guild is merely quirky then I do not know how they perceive the world around them. Then again, that burden not being present of what others think of them might actually be the reason why they are that strong." Renyu thought as she suddenly paused.

"Is there something wrong? I thought we chose this route to avoid any ocean monsters as you said?" Adrian asked as he found it strange that Renyu suddenly stopped.

"It is strange because there should be patrols at this part. It should not be a place that should have been left empty. We are in the Scylla Territory that also borders in Merfolk territory. There should be reef guards that are patrolling in this area since it is a famed route for travel." Renyu replied.

"I smell blood." Altum stated as his gills suddenly flared up and his eyes turned ferocious.

"If that is the case, we need to move carefully." Adrian stated as all of them swam at a steady pace compared to earlier when they were in a hurry.

They swam for about ten minutes and all of them have finally felt the eerie feeling in the surroundings. There were no smaller fishes or even living corals that are in the area as if it had become desolate. This should not be the case as the oceans have always been full of life. Even the Forbidden Oceans are filled with numerous lifeforms despite it being very dangerous.

"As if every life around, us was sucked out of them. This place has basically become a dead zone." Renyu stated as this was the term they use when a part of an ocean is virtually dead as nothing will grow in it.

Just as they were swimming to escape the dead zone as fast as possible, Adrian finally felt a presence as killing intent poured out of it. Kanlaon suddenly became larger and then countered the attack that came towards Adrian. A bony serpentine whip came crashing down and Kanlaon countered it with his own dragon tail.

"This should not be happening! Why is that here?!" Renyu stated as she became extremely shocked to see something called one of the Terrors of the Deep appearing in such a rather shallow part of the ocean.

As soon as Kanlaon countered the whip like tail that came towards Adrian, the monster hiding in the shadows hissed as its body finally started to glow. The monster that actually attacked Adrian has a serpentine body that is at least a hundred meters long with a visible skeletal system. When its body started to glow, one could clearly see that its outer skin or body is transparent in color which makes one be able to see its bones.

"A Ghost Soul Leviathan!" Renyu finally called the name of the monster that appeared before them or rather shown itself towards them.

Description: One of the recognized Terror of the Deep by the merfolk people as it has a skeletal body and the ability to suck the life force of those that it absorbs in its body. It is said that the Ghost Soul Leviathan can create more of its kin by splitting its bones into fragments. Even one bone fragment can grow a Ghost Soul Leviathan but it takes time depending on the volume of the material.

The Ghost Soul Leviathan looked like a gigantic sea slug and oar fish combination. It has a glowing body that stretched in a long distance but the most terrifying fact is that it is a silent killer. It is said that those that wander into Ghost Soul Leviathan waters will always meet a vicious end at it will absorb the life force of all that are unlucky to wander into one.

"We need to escape immediately! We cannot kill that thing easily with just the three of us. It will tire us out as the Ghost Soul Leviathan is said to also not wield good drops. We will literally be burning effort if we tried to kill it." Renyu stated but Adrian has already started the fight.

Chains suddenly appeared from behind Adrian as an undead with a dreadful aura manifested behind him. This undead did not look afraid at all but it actually looked at the Ghost Soul Leviathan with a dangerous gaze. Renyu and Altum knew that fighting here has now been sealed since Adrian chose to engage instead of escape.

"Why did you suddenly attack the Ghost Soul Leviathan? Did you find a clue and that we need to kill it in order to break the barrier?" Renyu asked as she already gave images of the barrier to Adrian as he asked for it earlier.

"Huh?! Sorry about that as we engaged in battle without notifying the two of you. I suddenly forgot that we were in a party Charon wanted that thing." Adrian replied.

"No worries! Will we get a clue if we kill it?! I will go!" Altum stated but Adrian told him to stand down.

"You should not interfere because Charon was just hungry. He really wanted the energy being given off by this Ghost Soul Leviathan." Adrian stated which dumbfounded both Renyu and Altum.

The two of them can only stare at the large undead made of chains absorb a large one-hundred-meter-long ocean monster. The Ghost Soul Leviathan struggled away from the chains but it could not even struggle as it was entirely bound. The Ghost Soul Leviathan even released a blood curdling wail as if it announced that it will now die.

A few seconds later, Charon has finally absorbed all of the Ghost Soul Leviathan. The body of the ocean monster that has characteristics of an undead made it unable to resist the overwhelming pressure of an undead of Charon’s caliber. Renyu could only stare wide in shock that a monster of that magnitude became a snack to the summoner before her.

Renyu gulped as she finally thought that she did not choose to bet wrong. She might actually be able to enter the barrier if the one that is with her is the demon near her. There have been lots of articles and such that always diminish Equinox’ power because he rarely uses it to create a spotlight. Even Renyu knows or rather is definite that Equinox is more powerful than the famed ranked one player.
