Chapter 2993: The Lord of the Watery Abyss

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Crown Princess Aisla. I am Equinox, the Champion of the Twin Gods. My comrade here is Altum, the Champion of the Deep. Apologies for the late introduction. Please do not be alarmed as we are no followers of the disdainful Lord of the Watery Abyss." Adrian stated as he introduced himself to them.

"Did we tell you to speak, worthless mouth breather!" General Seatus shouted as his voice became louder that some of his gums could be seen.

"General Seatus! Calm down or I shall send you to prison for insubordination!" Crown Princess Aisla commanded which made General Seatus back down as the eight dragon heads all looked at him with a glare.

"I apologize for the brashness of my tone, crown princess. But..." General Seatus stated but suddenly stopped as two of the eight dragon heads started to do biting motions.

Adrian smiled when he saw the reaction that General Seatus gave because Charon managed to actually absorb some of the memories of the malevolent sludge monster before. Charon told him the title of Lord of the Watery Abyss. He did not know anything about this distorted god at all and was just throwing terms but it seems it caught the disdain of General Seatus.

"His soul is also corrupted." Adrian whispered to Renyu and Altum as he managed to catch it earlier when General Seatus was disturbed.

Adrian did not know how he could do it but General Seatus was unlike Coral. The fallen royal guard earlier could not hide the corruption from her soul that Adrian can easily see but General Seatus was different. He hid the corruption or any trace of it so perfectly but this made Adrian know how they operated. Coral might not have hidden it earlier because she believed no one can detect it as the other royal guards were dead and the only ones left were injured.

Renyu and Altum then looked at General Seatus in shock as they did not expect that a general of the Scylla Kingdom would be a follower of a distorted god. He was even a close aide of the crown princess which means that he is very close with the crown. The fact that a follower of a distorted god could be that close to the next queen means that the enemies have already assimilated into the royal court.

"If he is then what should we do? They have already learned that Princess Drona is alive. This might escalate things even further." Renyu whispered back.

"Can you do something to expose them, guild leader?" Altum whispered as well.

"Let us watch for now. We do not know if he is the only one that is a follower of the distorted god. We might as well clean house as we are already too deep in it. The Scylla Queen is at the War Council which means the crown princess might have been left in charge." Adrian replied.

"I do not want any word from you anymore, general. This is my sister." Crown Princess Aisla stated as she then realized the gravity of the situation and how such a thing escalated even further.

"The War Council! Our royal parents should be there along with the Merfolk King and Queen. We must go there now and explain everything to them! We must stop the upcoming war!" Crown Princess Aisla stated but a voice that she already tried to silence spoke once again.

"Crown Princess, please be mindful. We must go back to the castle first and check if this girl really is Princess Drona and not something created by the vile magic of the merfolk kingdom." General Seatus stated.

"I thought that I no longer need any of your inputs, general. Do you really want to test me and be sent to the dungeons for insubordination?" Crown Princess Aisla stated with frustration as she did not expect that General Seatus was testing her patience.

"Since you care not for my input, crown princess. It is better if you did not speak for a month!" General Seatus shouted as he suddenly struck the crown princess with a dagger.

Crown Princess Aisla did not expect that her most trusted general suddenly striking her with a dagger. Eight of the dragon heads then lunged towards General Seatus but suddenly became limp as the body of the crown princess started to tremble. The wound on the crown princess’ arm that was the result of the dagger’s slash suddenly bled even more.

"Poison!" Princess Drona stated as she tried to use healing magic to heal her sister.

"What are you doing, general!" One of the soldiers shouted but they were met with a spear to their stomach from another soldier.

Soldiers that surrounded them suddenly started attacking the others. The soldiers that were attacked were the ones that were not loyal to General Seatus and were only loyal to the crown princess. The soldiers that were injured all flocked towards Adrian and the others as the soldiers loyal to General Seatus released their killing intent on the group.

"Seatus! You dared to harm me and betray the kingdom!" Crown Princess Aisla stated with an exhausted tone as she tried very hard to swallow the immense pain she is feeling.

Something that can poison Scylla is not ordinary poison as they are very resistant to it. The fact that a dagger also penetrated her tough skin meant that it should be made from high quality material only accessible to powerful individuals. Crown Princess Aisla could not believe that the general she raised from a mere soldier actually betrayed her.

"Forgive me, crown princess. You have forced my hand but do not worry as that poison will not kill you. Your body will merely be paralyzed for a week once it scatters to all of your body. You shall not stop the great awakening that should happen. The Lord of the Watery Abyss must wake and unify the waters now that the Titan of the Ocean has retreated." General Seatus stated with eyes filled with fanaticism.
