Chapter 1079: Chapter 1296: Take Him Away

Looking at the information fed back by the Probing Eyes, Julian noticed that the Dragonite's notes had changed.

Previously, there had been a lifespan countdown of only one hour. The battle had likely been going on for over fifty minutes by now, so by all logic, its remaining lifespan should be down to just a few minutes.

But now, the lifespan countdown had disappeared, and even the note about consuming lifespan in exchange for power was gone.

And what truly made Julian take it seriously was the very last note.

In other words, the Demon God power within those Pokémon before had not been the Demon God's true power. But now, Dragonite had already grasped that true power—albeit an extremely small portion.

Julian said in a deep voice, "Metagross, be careful."

"Meta!"

Metagross nodded. Even without Julian saying it, it could feel an immense pressure emanating from this Dragonite. Even the sacred aura that came with its King Form seemed to have difficulty suppressing it.

It wasn't that the King Form was weak, but rather that the Dragonite before them had reached level 100.99. That meant it was just a hair's breadth away from becoming a true First-class Legendary.

Everyone understood that the battle had now reached its final moment.

Julian only had Metagross left, and the Master only had Dragonite.

However, at this moment, John had already arrived at the battlefield.

The Godless Barrier had been in existence for close to an hour, and under the constant impact of the battle's shockwaves from within, the barrier's energy was already very low.

"John, according to the readings, the Godless Barrier still has about twenty percent of its energy remaining. If four Champion-level Pokémon Self-Destruct at the same spot together, they should be able to break through this barrier."

"But if they all Self-Destruct together, the Pokémon will absolutely die."

James's heavy voice came through the phone.

If a single Pokémon self-destructed while in peak condition, the odds were high that it wouldn't die—it would simply fall into a near-death state.

But if four Pokémon self-destructed together, the overlapping, fused force of the mutual explosions would leave absolutely no chance of survival.

It had to be understood that although Julian was now locked in a one-on-one with the Master, and Metagross had even turned gold, looking incredibly formidable—the Master's Dragonite was very likely already at the peak of the Pseudo-First-class Legendary tier.

Under these circumstances, Drakoria simply didn't dare to gamble on whether Metagross could defeat this Dragonite. If that gamble was lost, the consequences were something they couldn't bear—nor could any other nation in the world.

"Grandpa!"

Julian quickly spotted his grandfather and called out in surprise.

But the next instant, his pupils rapidly contracted and he shouted, "Grandpa, watch out!"

After Deoxys had left, Darkrai had not departed from the area. So the moment John appeared, it immediately launched an attack toward him.

A Shadow Ball was hurled straight at John.

A First-class Legendary like Darkrai attacking a Champion like John meant the latter had absolutely no power to resist.

In his deep concern for his grandson, John had momentarily forgotten Darkrai's presence.

Now, seeing the Shadow Ball hurtling toward him, the Metagross by his side charged straight at it.

BOOM!!

With a thunderous boom, Metagross was blasted away by the Shadow Ball like a piece of scrap. Two of its four arms were broken, its body covered in cracks large and small, and blood streaming out incessantly.

The sudden turn of events startled John, but fortunately, his battle experience was exceptionally rich. He immediately recalled Metagross.

His Metagross had consumed several Ultimate treasures, one of which was a defensive treasure whose function was similar to Aggron's Golden Armor.

Because of that, Metagross hadn't died—but it could be considered on the brink of death.

"Kai?"

Darkrai was somewhat surprised.

Although that had been just a Shadow Ball it had casually thrown, it still wasn't something a Champion-level Pokémon should have been able to block.

'But let's see how many Champion-level Pokémon you have.'

Darkrai flung another Shadow Ball at John, this one even more powerful than the last.

After all, if it failed to kill a single human on the second attempt, it would be a bit of a disgrace for a First-class Legendary.

Whoosh—

At that critical moment, Deoxys appeared, using its Defense Forme to block the Shadow Ball.

Darkrai: "Didn't you flee?"

Seeing its opponent reappear, Darkrai asked, somewhat bemused.

"Phew—"

Julian let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Thankfully, Deoxys had returned in time; otherwise, his grandfather would have truly been in danger.

"Deoxys, take Grandpa away."

Julian's voice rang out in Deoxys's mind.

Deoxys didn't even bother to answer Darkrai. It took John and immediately left the area. Darkrai, for its part, did not pursue them.

Its duty was to protect the Godless Barrier from being broken by outsiders. So as long as no one attempted to tamper with the barrier, it would not take action.

Besides, that Deoxys wasn't easy to deal with either. If it weren't for the fact that its own level was higher, with all those form changes that Deoxys had, it would actually be difficult to defeat it.

After taking John away, Deoxys happened to spot Jake in the sky and forcibly brought him over as well.

"Deoxys, why are you stopping me?! I have to go save my son!"

Jake cried out anxiously. Blocked by Deoxys, he had no way of getting to the Godless Barrier.

"He will defeat his opponent. And even if you go, you won't be able to break the Godless Barrier."

Deoxys's voice echoed in the minds of both Jake and John.

Even though the Godless Barrier only had twenty percent of its energy remaining, that was still not something John and the others could destroy.

Even if they had their Champion-level Pokémon Self-Destruct, they still wouldn't be able to break it—unless the power of those self-destructing Pokémon could reach the Pseudo-First-class Legendary tier.

And that was obviously impossible, since their Pokémon hadn't even reached peak Champion yet.

The Champions from other countries who had rushed over to provide support saw through the video feed that John had been taken away by Deoxys, and they understood what that meant.

Inwardly, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

After all, from a personal standpoint, they certainly didn't want their own Pokémon to die. The only reason they had come here was because their nations required it.

It was their sense of duty and the bigger picture that had brought them here.
