Chapter 1090: Chapter 1307: Larvitar

"Your Turner family bloodline is impressive, but my dear grandson is still surnamed Walker."

Harold had been feeling quite pleased with himself, thinking he had rendered John speechless—but he never expected John to drop a bombshell right away.

Julian's surname was Walker, not Turner. So no matter how much Harold boasted about the Turner family bloodline, he couldn't change the fact that his grandson was surnamed Walker.

Now it was Harold's turn to be utterly frustrated, racking his brain to think of something to say to counter John's devastating move.

"Slow~"

Slowking placed skewers of freshly grilled barbecue onto a platter, letting the guests help themselves.

Its little apprentice, Magearna, was busy making various Berry drinks off to the side, while Lucario and Zeraora assisted Slowking.

There were also plenty of pastries set out nearby.

These had been prepared in advance by Slowking and Love, and there was a large quantity, so there was no need to worry about them running out.

"This barbecue tastes amazing—better than any barbecue I've ever had before!"

Someone exclaimed with a look of surprise after finishing a skewer.

"Yeah, cousin's Slowking is incredible."

One of Julian's younger cousins nodded in admiration.

Anyone who had ever eaten food made by Slowking had nothing but praise for it. If someone claimed it wasn't good, they were definitely lying, and their conscience would surely hurt.

"Good heavens, this Larvitar is huge! Could it be a Totem Pokémon too?"

Julian's eldest uncle, Logan, stared in amazement at the Larvitar playing in the sand about five to six meters away from him.

A typical Larvitar stood around 0.6 meters tall, but Julian's was nearly two meters—its height was almost on par with a Pupitar.

This was clearly out of the ordinary.

Considering that its father, Tyranitar, was a Totem Pokémon, it was highly likely that this Larvitar was a Totem Pokémon as well.

Despite its large size, Larvitar was only just over a year old—still very much a child. So what's wrong with playing in the sand? That's perfectly normal.

"Dad, can you talk to cousin and ask if I can have this Larvitar?"

Logan's youngest son gazed eagerly at the Larvitar. He was a Dark-type trainer, and he felt more strongly about this than anyone else.

"With this Larvitar, I'm sure I can become an Elite trainer!"

At present, this cousin of Julian's was only at the peak of pseudo-Elite rank.

Reaching the peak of the pseudo-Elite tier at his age was actually not bad at all, but being born into a top-tier breeding family like the Turners and still not even being an Elite trainer was a bit hard to justify.

"Even a moron could make it to the Elite tier with this Larvitar—what the hell are you dreaming about?"

Logan scolded him outright.

He wasn't stupid. If his son was truly a genius, he could certainly bring it up with Julian. But unfortunately, he wasn't.

In fact, he was worse than the average commoner genius. If not for the Turner family backing him up, he might not even have reached the peak of the pseudo-Elite tier.

Hearing his father not only refuse him but also say he was worse than a moron, he was somewhat dejected. Fortunately, he wasn't foolish enough to shamelessly ask Julian for the Larvitar himself.

Though ever since this Larvitar of Julian's was born, it had long been targeted by the Rock- and Dark-type families, who kept making all sorts of sky-high offers.

Of course, Julian turned them all down—after all, he didn't care for any of those things in the slightest.

Larvitar had been born for over a year now, more than enough time for it to evolve. However, to better unlock its potential, an Everstone hung around its neck.

After all, the little guy was born with Purple-grade Potential—its innate potential was even higher than its father's.

Tyranitar's Potential had only been Blue at first, only upgraded to Purple because of Julian.

So in terms of pure potential, Larvitar's was even greater than Tyranitar's had once been.

Julian didn't currently have a junior Pokémon to train, and Larvitar's arrival perfectly filled that gap.

As a result, Julian had never once considered giving it away.

At such a young age, it had already used an Ultimate treasure—a treatment that only Metagross had received back in the day.

The happily playing Larvitar suddenly opened its mouth and swallowed the sandcastle it had just finished building.

Its face immediately showed an expression of lingering satisfaction, as though it wanted even more.

This sand was no ordinary sand—it was a kind of treasure.

And this treasure was perfect as food for Larvitar.

"Larvitar~"

Jade had appeared beside Larvitar at some point.

Lowering its head to glance at Jade, Larvitar paid her no attention and continued building its sandcastle.

It thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of piling up a castle and then swallowing it in one gulp.

Seeing that she was being ignored, Jade wasn't surprised and continued, "Larvitar, you're completely wasting your talent by staying by my brother's side."

"You're a genius, yet my brother keeps you buried—I get mad just looking at it."

Jade sighed dramatically, as if she were lamenting on Larvitar's behalf.

"But things would be completely different if you come with me. I don't even have a single Pokémon right now. So if you came with me, you'd be my starter Pokémon, and I'd take you all the way with me in becoming the world's second-best trainer."

After saying so much, her real intention finally became clear—she was just trying to poach from Julian.

And this wasn't the first time Jade had tried to lure Larvitar away, one could tell just from Larvitar's expression.

But there was no way it would go with Jade. Although the aura emanating from Jade made it feel very comfortable, its trainer was its one and only trainer.

Its own parents were also its trainer's Pokémon, so how could it possibly follow someone else as its trainer?

Uncle Arcanine had already told it that the first rule of the Pokémon code was loyalty, and when it came to loyalty, it had to strive to be second only to Uncle Arcanine.

"Larvitar, you—"

"Jade, what are you up to now?"

Jade was about to continue her poaching attempt, but her brother's voice suddenly rang out, sounding a bit sinister.

"Jade's not up to anything! Jade is just playing in the sand with Larvitar!"

Jade hurriedly explained, and as she finished speaking, she tried to grab some sand from the ground—only to fail to pick it up at all, because the sand was incredibly heavy, even heavier than iron sand of the same volume.

"Don't lie. And didn't you tell me before that you wanted to become a Psychic-type trainer? Larvitar isn't Psychic-type," Julian teased.

"Brother, I was still young and didn't know any better back then. I don't want to be a Psychic-type trainer anymore."

"A Rock-type then?"

"No."

Jade shook her head.

Then, with a completely serious expression, she declared, "I want to be a generalist, so my Rock-type representative is going to be this Larvitar."
