Chapter 1096: Chapter 1313: Bully

Julian felt that he had given his second uncle plenty of face—after all, the battle had dragged on for over a dozen exchanges before ending.

Under normal circumstances, if that Mienshao could survive three rounds against Kingambit, it would already be considered a victory.

Daniel: 'You one-shot my Mienshao, and you're telling me you gave me plenty of face?'

Daniel already knew before the battle that he was no match for his nephew, and with his discerning eye, he could naturally tell that Kingambit had been going easy right from the start.

Speed was indeed Kingambit's weak point, but it wasn't so bad that it had to just passively take hits.

He recalled Mienshao into its Poké Ball.

Kingambit had held back appropriately—Kowtow Cleave was an extremely powerful move, but it had controlled the force well. Mienshao would recover after a day or two of rest.

Daniel couldn't help but sigh. Getting one-shot was still a bit embarrassing, no matter how he looked at it.

"Yay, I won! Pay up, pay up!"

Jade cheered happily and stretched out her hand toward Celebi and Jirachi.

Though Celebi and Jirachi were very reluctant, they didn't refuse. Heart aching, they handed over the allowance Julian had given them today to Jade.

Beaming as she took the money, Jade's expression was practically the picture of a little money-grubber.

She stuffed the two hundred bucks straight into her pocket, while Celebi and Jirachi both looked as if the light had faded from their eyes.

With the battle over, Julian walked over with Kingambit.

His younger cousin Emma immediately ran up to him.

"Cousin, you were so amazing! And Kingambit is so strong too!"

The look of sheer admiration on her face caught Julian slightly off guard. This girl couldn't be a fan of his, could she?

Kingambit held its head high, indicating that its strength was only natural and to be expected.

"Emma, you'll be in your senior year of high school in a few months, right?" Julian asked.

Although he wasn't particularly close with most of his cousins, he wasn't so estranged that he didn't even know their names.

"Mm, that's right," Emma nodded.

The World Trainers Association stipulated that citizens of each country could only receive their first starter Pokémon at age 17. And in Drakoria, 17 was exactly the age when one entered senior year of high school.

"Are you planning to become a Trainer or a Breeder?"

The Turner family was a lineage of breeders, and Emma was a Turner, so there was a strong chance she'd become a breeder.

"A trainer, of course! And I'm going to be a Steel-type trainer too!"

Emma answered without hesitation.

In her childhood, her dream had been to become an outstanding breeder just like her grandfather. But now, she wanted to become a powerful trainer.

This was why the influence of an idol could sometimes be enormous.

After speaking, Emma fixed her gaze intently on Julian. The message she wanted to convey was clear without words.

"Which Steel-type starter do you want? Cousin will get one for you," Julian said with a smile.

"Can I have a Beldum? Just a normal-colored one is fine," Emma said cautiously.

Julian was her idol, so of course she wanted to follow in his footsteps.

Truth be told, with the Turner family's resources, getting a normal-colored Beldum was definitely not difficult. But if it was a gift from Julian, the meaning behind it would be completely different.

"No problem."

Julian nodded.

He definitely couldn't give away the silver Beldum that represented his family, but as for normal blue Beldum, the Walker family actually had quite a few.

And since she was his cousin, there was no way Julian would be stingy about something like that.

Everyone else looked at Emma with envy. Unfortunately, they were already trainers or breeders, so they didn't have the same excuse to ask Julian for a Pokémon.

"Julian... waaaah!"

Just then, Celebi and Jirachi suddenly came flying toward Julian. The two little ones threw themselves into his arms and promptly burst into tears.

Their crying sounded absolutely pitiful and full of grievance.

Julian looked over at Jade and said helplessly, "You bullied them again, didn't you?"

Being able to make these two cry—even Julian himself didn't have that ability. Only Jade could pull it off. So he guessed right away that it was her doing.

"I didn't, big brother! They're just sore losers who lost a bet," Jade said.

'Lost a bet?'

Julian figured that if that was really the case, what face did these two even have left to cry?

"Julian, she bullied us! She bet on you to win herself, but made us bet on you to lose—we didn't even get a choice!"

As Celebi reached the most heartbreaking part, tears welled up and spilled over again.

Jirachi nodded vigorously in agreement.

"She took away all of today's allowance!"

This was the real reason they were so heartbroken.

The money was gone before they'd even had a chance to spend it—it was even worse than losing it.

"What do you mean 'took away'? You clearly gave it to me yourselves!" Jade retorted.

"Hmph, you two are just sore losers. Embarrassing."

She added that last jab for good measure.

Caught right in the middle, Julian felt a headache coming on.

"King~"

Off to the side, Kingambit chuckled to itself. If only it had some popcorn in its hand right now.

"Get lost."

Julian gave it a light kick.

"I'll give you your allowance back later."

Seeing how aggrieved the two little ones looked, Julian could only agree to compensate them.

After all, for them, no matter how great the grievance in their hearts, pocket money could heal it.

And if it couldn't, then the money simply wasn't enough.

Sure enough, the moment they heard Julian's words, the two little ones' tears stopped instantly. The next second, the rain turned to sunshine—their faces changing unbelievably fast.

Julian even began to suspect that these two little rascals had just been faking it, deliberately trying to trick him.

Celebi and Jirachi exchanged a glance, then flashed each other a victorious look.

Mission accomplished.

"Brother, they were faking it!"

A sudden voice rang out, and the smug expressions on the two little ones' faces immediately froze.

"Really?"

Julian lowered his head and looked at them.

"No, no! How could we ever lie to you, Dad?" Celebi quickly said.

"That's right! Don't listen to this brat!" Jirachi chimed in.

"Big brother, look—I have photos."

Jade handed her phone to Julian.

The photos showed the two little ones exchanging glances, along with their triumphant, pleased expressions.

Celebi and Jirachi looked at Jade: 'Are you the devil or what?'

"Tomorrow's allowance is gone too."

Julian said expressionlessly. Sure enough, they really had been lying to him. Those were literally crocodile tears.

"Big brother is wise!"

Jade couldn't help but serve up a flattering compliment.

"Ahhh! You little demon, I'll fight you!"

Celebi shrieked, too furious to let it go, and flew straight at Jade.

"Count me in!"

Jirachi also joined the fray.

And so the three little ones started brawling right in front of Julian. Celebi pulled Jade's hair; Jade grabbed Jirachi's cheeks with both hands and stretched them sideways.

Jirachi, in turn, retaliated by spitting on Jade's face.

The entire scene was actually quite comical.

Sure enough, the people around not only didn't stop them but actually started watching. Julian even pulled out his phone and started recording, saying:

"Celebi, Jirachi—if you beat Jade, five hundred bucks each."

The motivating power of money was boundless.

At least for Celebi and Jirachi, money was the hope that kept them going every single day.

"Prepare to die, you little demon!" Jirachi shouted.

"Today, I'm going to make you kneel on the ground and sing 'Conquered'!"
