Chapter 897: Chapter 1114: Mission Completed
"Agg~"
The eightieth challenger sent out a Pokémon that finally sparked a bit of interest in Julian.
Its entire body was wrapped in hardened armor, two long horns atop its head gleaming with a cold metallic sheen, and its massive frame exuding a heavy, reliable aura.
"You've raised it very well," Julian couldn't help but praise.
This Aggron was level 67, a late-stage pseudo-Elite. This level of strength would be considered excellent even among graduating seniors at Imperial University.
"Thank you, Champion Walker," Leon said excitedly.
He had poured tremendous effort into raising his Aggron, and many people complimented it when they saw it.
But how could their praise compare to a compliment from Julian?
"You're from the Silverton family, right?"
Feeling like this guy looked familiar, Julian couldn't help but ask.
"Yes. I was also present at Princess Jade's third birthday last time," Leon nodded.
No wonder he looked somewhat familiar—Julian must have seen him at Jade's birthday banquet.
The Silverton family was one of Lake City's established families. Like the Walkers, they specialized in Steel-types—though the gap between them was enormous.
At the same time, the Silverton family was one of the Walker family's vassal families, managing the city-level Steel-type Gym in Lake City.
That explained why his Aggron had been raised so well. As an affiliated family, the Silvertons had access to some of the Walker family's Steel-type training insights.
When people thought of the Walker family, the first image that came to mind was the silver Metagross; the second was Aggron.
These two Pokémon were undeniably the Walker family's symbolic representatives.
Although it had already fought eighty consecutive battles, apart from some physical exhaustion, Bisharp remained in a relatively peak state in other aspects.
Looking at the opposing Aggron, Bisharp's first thought was how small it was.
Compared to Julian's Totem Aggron, this Aggron's height probably only reached up to the knees of its counterpart.
But immediately after, a faint fighting spirit arose. Although this Aggron was far inferior to its companion, it was still an Aggron after all.
With that thought, Bisharp tapped the ground with its foot and transformed into a streak of red light. It was fast, though not yet to the point of being invisible to the naked eye.
"Aggron, Iron Defense," Leon said calmly.
His Aggron had the hidden ability Heavy Metal, which made speed an obvious weakness. So when facing speed-oriented Pokémon, the best strategy was to tank the attack head-on—
And then find an opportunity to knock the opponent out in a single move.
A silvery-white sheen flashed across Aggron's armor.
The next second, accompanied by a tearing sound and sparks flying, Aggron's pained cry rang out as its legs involuntarily staggered back a few steps.
"What?!"
Leon stared in disbelief at the wound on Aggron's chest. It wasn't very deep, but Bisharp had indeed broken through Aggron's defense in a single strike—and this was after Iron Defense had boosted it.
Although he knew Bisharp was powerful, deep down he had still believed his Aggron would win.
After all, Bisharp had already fought so many battles, and in terms of level, he held a clear advantage.
Before stepping onto the field, his confidence had been sky-high. He hadn't expected reality to slap him in the face so quickly.
Aggron's defense was a shield, while Bisharp's physical structure destined it to be the strongest spear.
Shield and spear: if the spear was strong, the shield broke; if the shield was hard, the spear snapped.
"In the future, add some Starmetal Ore to Aggron's diet," Julian advised.
The metal extracted from Starmetal Ore had excellent ductility. Leon's Aggron already had impressive defense—it was simply unfortunate enough to be facing Bisharp.
The flaw in its defense lay in insufficient flexibility.
Leon nodded, but soon a troubled look appeared on his face.
Starmetal Ore was one of the rare ores, and the Silverton family didn't have any.
"I'll have someone deliver some regularly," Julian added.
Nearly all rare minerals and metals in Drakoria were monopolized by the Walkers. And since Julian's rise, the Walker family had begun extending its reach into rare mineral markets overseas as well.
The Silverton family was a vassal family of the Walkers. And Leon had indeed performed well—becoming an Elite within ten years wouldn't be a problem for him.
So Julian naturally didn't mind investing in him.
Leon nodded gratefully.
This wasn't merely about receiving resources; it meant he had entered Champion Walker's field of vision. In the entire Silverton family, he was the only one to receive such treatment.
It wasn't hard to imagine what kind of reception awaited him when he returned home.
Leon couldn't help but clench his fist.
Five minutes later, Aggron fell.
Originally, three minutes would have been enough. But Julian gave special attention to Leon, extending the battle time to point out areas needing improvement.
The special treatment left the surrounding students green with envy.
But there was nothing they could do about it. They weren't geniuses like Leon, and their families were too small—they didn't even qualify to be vassals of a vassal family.
When Bisharp defeated its final opponent, the clock struck exactly twelve noon.
And the System's daily mission reward was also credited.
Julian let out a soft whistle as he watched the Mewtwo Fragments increase from 86 to 88.
Bisharp had already walked back to Julian's side by then.
"Good work."
Julian patted its shoulder. Bisharp shook its head in response, though its breathing was a bit heavy—after all, it had fought a hundred consecutive battles. Although the opponents weren't very strong, it was still somewhat tiring.
"I'll find some time to take you to evolve."
Bisharp was already capable of evolving into Kingambit, but the evolution conditions were quite strict.
It needed to defeat and take down three Bisharp within a group that were carrying a Leader's Crests.
Since it involved a group, that meant such opponents could only be found in the wild or within Secret Realms.
For Julian, locating such a group was just a matter of giving an order.
Hearing that, a faint glimmer of anticipation flashed across Bisharp's usually impassive face.
If it evolved into its final form, it would be the same as its father.
Sensing the deep obsession within Bisharp—the desire to surpass and defeat its father—Julian said nothing.
Having an obsession was a good thing; as long as it was properly guided, that obsession would transform into motivation for it to grow stronger.
After recalling Bisharp into its Poké Ball, Julian joined Principal Simon and his own mother for lunch at Lake University's cafeteria.
He had to say, the head chef here was really skilled. Julian transformed into a food-devouring machine, completely ignoring Simon's compliments as he focused on eating.
