Chapter 899: Chapter 1116: Jade
Chapter 899: Chapter 1116: Jade
Countries around the world had always monitored meteorites that could potentially threaten the planet. After all, if one with a sufficiently large diameter were to crash down, it wouldn't matter much if it struck some distant country.
But if it hit their own territory—or even a neighboring country—that would be a very different story.
So the moment these two massive meteorites entered the planet's atmosphere, countries around the world detected them, and they also sensed that something was unusual.
After all, meteorites of that size appeared perhaps once every few decades. Yet now, two had shown up at the same time.
Although there was unease, there wasn't much panic.
After all, Rayquaza would destroy them.
The space around the planet was filled with satellites, and Rayquaza, which resided in the ozone layer, effectively lived under constant human surveillance.
At first, Rayquaza had been extremely displeased about satellites hovering overhead. It even felt like it was being spied on.
During that period, it destroyed quite a number of satellites belonging to various countries.
But no matter how many it broke, nations simply launched more. Destroy one? They would send up two.
Over time, Rayquaza grew bored of the game. It stopped actively destroying them, allowing the satellites to remain overhead—though occasionally, when irritated, it would still knock one down.
Rayquaza could be considered the only First-class Legendary that humanity could directly observe.
And in terms of protecting the planet, it had contributed immensely.
Over the past century alone, the meteorites it had destroyed had saved numerous countries from catastrophe.
Initially, all nations believed these two meteorites would meet the same fate as the previous ones—shattered effortlessly by Rayquaza.
But this time, something unexpected happened.
From within one of the destroyed meteorites, a never-before-seen Pokémon emerged.
And astonishingly, this Pokémon was capable of briefly contending with Rayquaza.
A First-class Legendary?
That thought surfaced simultaneously across nations.
Any Pokémon capable of contending, even briefly, with a top-tier First-class Legendary like Rayquaza had to be one as well.
Then came the live satellite footage: Rayquaza battling the unknown Pokémon—and the second meteorite being struck by Rayquaza's Hyper Beam, splitting into two halves and plummeting toward the planet's surface.
"Quick! Analyze the exact impact zones of these two meteorite fragments and the potential energy they'll release upon impact!"
The heads of national space agencies worldwide turned pale as they watched the enormous meteorite split and descend.
They urgently ordered their teams to run calculations—praying the fragments wouldn't fall on their own territory.
After the calculations were completed, most countries let out a sigh of relief.
Except for two.
Drakoria and Celestria.
One half of the split meteorite was projected to fall toward Lake City in Drakoria.
While, the other half was headed toward Lumber City, the second-largest city in Celestria.
The rest of the world took one look—not landing on us? Good.
Then they looked again—it was heading for the number one and number two powers.
Instantly, many countries couldn't help but feel a certain sense of schadenfreude.
They quickly gathered to watch the spectacle unfold.
If the meteorite fragments weren't intercepted, the cities they struck—along with surrounding areas—would suffer catastrophic damage.
The directly impacted cities would be wiped out entirely.
"Director, our calculations show that if the meteorite strikes Lake City, the impact will be equivalent to the simultaneous detonation of five nuclear warheads. Lake City will vanish instantly, and the resulting shockwaves will affect nearly one-fifth of the nation's land area."
Inside Drakoria's National Space Agency, countless analysts were running projections, and the results left everyone pale.
"Director, there's still time before impact. Should we notify the military to launch missiles and intercept the meteorite?"
With current human technology, there were indeed several ways to deal with an incoming meteorite. So despite the danger, the Director remained relatively composed.
"I'll inform the Grand Elder. And don't forget—Lake City is Champion Walker's hometown. He's there right now."
The Director's words immediately calmed those around him.
Right.
They still had Champion Walker.

Meanwhile, in Henry's home in Lake City, Julian was sitting on the sofa, holding his little sister while watching cartoons.
"Big brother, that Mightyena is so dumb! Why can't it ever catch the Mareep and Wooloo? If it were me, I would've caught them long ago!"
Jade sat in Julian's lap, pouting at the animated Mightyena on screen.
"Well, that's because our Jade is smart," Julian said with a smile, gently pinching her soft cheek.
"Mm-hmm! I'm the smartest!"
Perhaps it was because she had been blessed by Mew at birth. Or perhaps the Walker family's genes were simply exceptional.
At only three years old, Jade not only spoke clearly but was also remarkably intelligent.
The entire family was delighted by this.
"Celebi, why are you still eating fries? Mom said eating too many makes you dumb. I never eat them," Jade said seriously.
Celebi curled its lips and said, "Your mom is just lying to you. Only a little brat like you would believe that. Look at me—I've eaten so many fries. Did I get dumber?"
Thanks to Mew's blessing, just like her brother, Jade could also understand all Pokémon speech.
"You're not smart at all! Big bro said you're the dumbest!"
Jade stuck out her tongue at Celebi.
Celebi immediately turned to glare at Julian. This blockhead—always badmouthing it in front of the kid.
"If you're not dumb, then let me test you. If you can answer, then you're a smart Celebi."
"Bring it on! You think I'm scared of a little kid like you?"
Celebi couldn't possibly back down after being provoked by a three-year-old. It immediately put down its fries.
"Dragonite's wings are so small, but why can it still fly?"
Celebi blinked, stroking its chin, picturing Julian's Dragonite—with its especially large belly and indeed very small wings.
Right—why could such small wings actually make it fly? How come it had never thought about this before?
"Well… maybe Dragonite is actually very light? It just looks heavy," Celebi guessed.
"Wrong," Jade said.
"Hmm… then maybe its wings are incredibly strong, so even though they're small, they can still lift it?"
"Wrong again." Jade shook her head.
"If you don't know, I can change the question."
"Change it! That last one was just bad luck. I'll definitely get the second one right."
"Okay, second question: Why is Metagross silver instead of other colors, like black or yellow?"
"Because its dad or mom was silver, so it's silver too!"
Celebi answered quickly this time, feeling confident. After all, it knew Metagross was a species that reproduced by splitting.
And the Walker family's Metagross had always been that rare silver shiny variant.
"Wrong."
But Jade shook her head again.
Julian: 'That's not right? Wait... am I dumb too?'
