Chapter 1312: The Fifth Floor - Haunted Village (3)

Chapter 1312: The Fifth Floor - Haunted Village (3)

The team heading to Lerma Village consists only of Darkness Elemental users, with Nara as their leader.

Nara is a Night Rider with a natural affinity for darkness. She has no light in her heart compared to her sister Mara, who is literally an angel.

Nara is half human, half wraith, making her someone of the darkness kind. Her role in the Night Riders litterally make her the carrier of the Dark Seed, the source of their power.

So when facing darkness where light is not a counter but a food to be consumed, someone of her nature is needed. She is already strapped and ready for combat, two long swords sheathed on her back as she rides her Nightmare horse toward the village.

Joining her in this enterprise, of course, is Saden, who is also seated on her Nightmare horse. She is the first Night Rider Uncle Drew awakened after he became one, thanks to Kent.

She uses the bow, and while she isn’t Kent’s wife, thanks to her nature as a Night Rider, she already has a True Name.

When Kent invoked it, it had awakened her innate Night Rider talents, making her a powerful warrior in all regards.

Uncle Drew had already used a special method to awaken more of her innate talent, giving her that deadliness she had during the Dark Era.

Then there is Eryndor, who is riding on his own Nightmare horse. He used to be a high-ranking member of the Dark Devil Church before Uncle Drew met him. In the Night Riders, he has a special class that allows him to summon hellfiends.

Although his summons are temporary, there are some situations where he can form a contract with the summoned fiend (hell demon). Back in the day, he had contracted over 3,000 hellfiends, making him one of the most dangerous Night Riders.

Uncle Drew allowed him to join this campaign mainly because the darkness from the Dark Princess and her dark friend, while dangerous to light-based users, is actually beneficial to darkness elemental users.

The more they kill, the stronger they get. Eryndor had yet to form his first contract, so Uncle Drew wanted him to absorb more dark essence so he could summon the strongest fiends the moment he became an immortal.

Just the three of them would be enough for the Dark Princess. However, knowing what they know, Uncle Drew knew an extra hand wouldn’t be too bad.

Vari, Lani, and the rest of the assassins in the Chaos Dragon Harem would support, and the Undead Legion would provide backup.

If that isn’t enough, then some of the members of the Eternal Wrath Legion would step in. Not all of them left with Unity’s team, so they all want to help in ways they can, provided they have no light elemental affinity.

Along the way, they met some more carriages. Uncle Drew secretly marked them, so in case they meet an obstacle on the way, he can easily teleport to them to help.

After 30 minutes of movement, a dark and eerie village appeared in the distance. The buildings, while normal for a village, have their walls damaged and roofs burnt or eaten by something.

Dark smoke keeps rising from them, with many human and livestock skeletons littering the place.

"Looks spooky," Eryndor said, bringing his hellhorse (nightmare horse) to a halt.

The others also stopped, each scrutinising the eerie look before them. There is no doubt the city is indeed spooky, like Eryndor said.

The spookiness is indeed true. There is nothing encouraging about the village anymore. Everything had been covered by smoke and darkness.

What could be seen is now worn out. A battle happened in the city, and judging by the damage left behind, the guards they met may have narrowly escaped with their lives.

It was even a miracle they survived.

"This is indeed a nest of dark creatures. Looks similar to the Nest of the Dark Empress back during the Dark Era. It is just that this one is underdeveloped," Saden said, using her enhanced sight to see more clearly and much deeper into the village.

"Very underdeveloped for sure. If this were to be the Nest of the Dark Empress, by now, the howling, screaming, and crying of the Dark Fiends would have filled this place.

We wouldn’t even have met a single guard or civilian. I am judging that by now she is undergoing some form of evolution, which makes it the best time to strike."

Nara said, taking a sidelong glance at Saden... "If she is indeed undergoing an evolution, then you can go ahead and kill her with a single arrow to the head. If not, be ready for a deadly combat."

Saden nodded, and Nara turned to Eryndor... "Be ready to summon your own fiends. This will be a battle of fiends, so prepare well. The last time you lost almost all your summon... don’t make the same mistake again."

He nodded, already prepared. At his current level, he can summon 12 fiends (hell demons/ hell fiends).

Nara then turned to her sisters and the Undead Legion, "Let’s go. It will be better to end this quickly and handle the aftermath before things escalate. Who knows how long she has been planning this?"

They nodded and started moving toward the village.

"We will stay here," Vexthra said, standing atop a small hill, overlooking the village. Uncle Drew, Vargus (other Night Rider demigod), and Avotha (Abyss Dragon) joined her.

The ladies had no problem with that.

"We will stand much closer to the village just in case something unexpected happens," Olive and Ivy said before making their way toward the village.

They are two of Uncle Drew’s Night Agents. Since the maximum cultivation level for this mission is the Heavenly Ascension stage, they would be standing down.

They are at the Empyrean stage, just one stage above the limit of a High World.

They are not Night Riders, but they have some connection to the hellflame, and the darkness in their heart is even higher than Vari and the rest of the assassins.

This makes them perfect for this mission.

Watching them go, Uncle Drew merely smiled. Twelve of his Fourteen Night Agents had already reached the Death Stage, just a step from becoming Root Immortals.

However, these twins are very keen to remain at the Empyrean stage, citing a desire to experience life in a High World like the rest of Kent’s wives.

They are stronger than beings in the High Worlds, but they love the idea of living like them. Uncle Drew didn’t force them. His Night Agents are free to live their own lives, so he lets them.

Hopefully, soon, they will accept the offer to break some of the seals on their bodies so they can increase their cultivation. The higher they climb the floors of the dungeon, the stronger their opponents will be, so they would soon snap back to reality.

For now, they can have their fun.

Soon, Nara and her team arrived at the village entrance. Now that they were much closer, they started hearing the eerie sounds the Dark Fiends were making from deep within the village.

"Let’s get busy then." Without any hesitation, they entered, leaving only Olive, Ivy and some of the Eternal Wrath legion at the entrance.
