Chapter 1313: The Fifth Floor - Haunted Village (4)

"The last time, they knew we were coming, and so they waited for us at the entrance," Saden said, her bow firmly in her grip as they ventured deeper into the village.

Of course, they had only moved 200 meters deeper, but considering this is a village, that is deep enough to at least meet a Dark Fiend.

However, aside from the eerie noises, they saw no dark fiend.

"This is a Dark Princess, so it is normal that we haven’t yet met a Dark Fiend. I am sure she has fewer creatures under her command, considering she had only recently hatched," Nara replied, riding on her hell horse.

"I suppose this is also good. With fewer Fiends, we can complete this mission much faster," Eryndor added, turning to his left. He looked deeper into the village but saw nothing.

They continued to advance.

Meanwhile, behind them, Lani, Vari, Liora, and Indie walked, observing their surroundings while having their own conversation.

"So none of you lived during the Dark Era?" Indie asked, looking at her sisters. They shook their heads and replied,

"From what I can remember, I lived during the Ancient Era. I don’t know which horror I fought back then, but I remember hearing from some elders that it was the Ancient Era," Lani said, causing her sisters to nod.

"I am from the Primordial Era," Vari added, and Liora followed, "Chaos Era."

"I am also from the Primordial Era, so I suppose we wouldn’t know anything about the Dark Creatures," Indie said, feeling sad she couldn’t join the conversation happening between Nara and the Night Rider teammates.

"I guess you are right. But Neomi did, or at least came into contact with Dark Creatures. I learned she was the one who eradicated the remaining Dark Creatures sealed behind the veil."

"Yeah, she is a monster, and we both know that. She isn’t known as the mother of killers for nothing."

The four ladies giggled despite walking deep into the heart of corrupted darkness. Although they all have their pasts, they all seemed impressed by Neomi’s.

Her past was no rainbows and sunshine.

Whenever they recovered a memory, they shared it with each other. In most cases, they shared happy memories. However, whenever it was Neomi’s turn, if it wasn’t one battle after another, then it was her running from danger.

The last memory she shared was when she entered the Trial of Killers to awaken her bloodline. That trial made her the mother of killers.

14,000 killers were sent into an abandoned planet, and only one walked out. She killed half the total number of killers, and using their blood as a stepping stone, she came out more dangerous and super powerful.

So when Uncle Drew revealed she was the one who ended what they couldn’t during the Dark Era, none of the ladies doubted him. They knew what Neomi was capable of.

"Good thing she isn’t here. She would have stolen the spotlight like always."

The ladies giggled again. However, their giggle was cut short when they sensed movement. Everyone turned to their right, sensing a wind blowing toward them.

"Incoming," Nara’s voice reached everyone, causing them to go into battle mode.

Vari drew her scythe, her hair darkening. She has a yin-yang type constitution, so while she has light in her heart, if she wishes, she can turn that off and take on the darkness.

Naturally, that is what she did. She needed her dark side for this mission, and now that she sensed danger, she knew it was time to go into combat mode.

"Let me handle it," she said before melding into the shadows.

3 km away, a 12-meter-tall dog with a giant horn standing on its forehead charged toward the team, its body radiating intense corrupted dark qi.

Judging by its appearance, it had only recently become this grotesque-looking fiend. Before the Dark Princess arrived, it was merely a household dog, loved and cared about by many children.

However, she transformed it into a Tier 17-level Dark Fiend with deadly intent.

Vari appeared atop a building 500 meters away, watching as the creature ran toward her sisters. "Ugly and dangerous. Great combination."

She smiled and turned into a mist of smoke. A second later, she arrived atop the dog and unleashed a powerful attack. Her scythe traced a dark arc in the air as it embedded itself into its neck.

There was no resistance at all.

The sudden attack caused it to stumble and fall, crashing through many makeshift buildings. Vari had already turned to dark smoke and vanished into thin air.

She appeared just when the dog tried to get back up after rolling several meters on the ground, crashing through many buildings.

This time, she moved with a blur, striking with her scythe several times within mere seconds. Dozens of thin lines appeared in the air and cut through the dog, severing its head and legs and basically, all parts of its body.

"That would do it," she muttered, placing her scythe on her shoulder, her senses spread out, looking for a few more prey in case there are some around.

From the body of the dead dog, a thin line of darkness moved and entered her body. At once, she felt energised. Her connection to the dark element strengthened all of a sudden, making her smile.

"Wow, I didn’t see that coming," she welcomed the change, but was also shocked by it. Strengthening the darkness element is much harder than the light element, so this is a big deal.

Regardless, she didn’t focus much on it and quickly made her way back to her sisters and teammates.

"What do you think?" Nara asked when Vari returned.

"It was just a Spirit Sovereign, but I can tell it is much stronger than the Spirit Lord-level beasts we have faced in the past."

"Then we’d better be prepared because we have more incoming." Just when Nara said that, the ground started shaking.

5 km away, dozens of dogs, each a Tier 17-level Dark Fiend, rushed toward Kent, their gazes burning with fury and hunger.

"It seems she knew we were here," Saden said, taking out an arrow from her quiver.

"Then we’d better make sure she doesn’t forget us till her death," Eryndor raised his staff and got ready to fight. He is a summoner, but he can also hold his own in close combat just fine.

Lani didn’t take out her scythe as Vari did; instead, her clown mask appeared on her face, and an annoying laughter started echoing in the air as she spun her daggers.

Vari turned and looked at her, clearly annoyed by the laughter... "Every time," she muttered.

"Don’t blame me. This is how I was born, so if you wanna blame someone, blame the one who created me." With a giggle, she summoned her tattoos, filling her flawless skin with names of all the people she had killed that didn’t deserve death.

"Time to clear some names off my skin, I suppose."

Her sisters just ignored her, knowing, as she said, this is who she is.

The Undead also got ready. Soon, their enemies arrived, and the long-awaited battle began.
