Chapter 1316: The Fifth Floor - Haunted Village (7)

[Somewhere on Planet Gbogba - Kaizo and Krex]

The undead titan and the undying cockroach stood atop a small hill overlooking a dark building just 2 km away with calm expressions.

Around the building, cultivators dressed in black, with hoods covering their heads, moved to and fro, guarding the area.

Most of them were Spirit Sovereigns, with a few Spirit Lords. There were about 24 of them, each holding a weapon of their specialisation.

"Big sister Vexthra said we should kill them all, right?" Krex asked, a pair of curved swords appearing in his firm grip.

"Yes. She said these people nurtured the Dark Seed, so they must all be killed. We can’t allow even one of them to escape."

"Sounds cool to me. I was bored killing beasts that respawn anyway."

Kaizo turned and looked at Krex and grinned... "Same here. You should take those outside, and I will handle those inside the building. Can you handle that?"

"Stop looking down on me, Kaizo. Even if I can’t handle them, they can’t kill me either. After all, I am the..."

"Undying Cockroach," Kaizo smirked, and then his gauntlet appeared around his hand, and golden lightning started dancing around them.

"I will go boom, so take advantage of the Chaos."

Krex nodded.

"Here I come,"

The next second, as if he had been hurled into the air, Kaizo jumped high and, with a Superman punch, descended on the dark building, causing everyone to become alert.

The speed at which he came was too fast and destructive. Before any of them could make a move to stop him, he was already upon the building.

BOOM

He blasted through, sending a shockwave far and wide.

"So cool," Krex said with a smile before he vanished.

When he appeared, a Spirit Lord lost his head. However, that was just the start of a massacre where, unless a head came rolling down, Krex wouldn’t be happy.

Just a few years ago, he was a pawn his family was using to get to Lilian, who had a rather potent Spirit Root back then. They wanted to take her Spirit Root for their prodigy daughter.

Before the plan could bloom, however, Kent entered the scene. The two of them clashed, but instead of killing him, Kent spared him.

Killing him was pointless in his eyes, especially since he had no idea he was being used.

This encounter snapped him back to reality, so he chose to leave his own family... the same family that had given him the power of a young master.

Later, when Kent went to save Li Hua, he found him locked in the same prison dungeon. He saved him, and that was when his True Name manifested: Krex Nithal, the Undying Cockroach.

Now, he had joined the family of the Chaos Dragon, and thanks to the training received from his big brothers and sisters, he had now become a formidable warrior.

As he moved across the battlefield, blocking, countering, and beheading, one could tell he had become a warrior to be feared.

Meanwhile, inside the dark building, which had now lost its roof, Kaizo gazed coldly at the 7 Heavenly Ascension stage cultivators surrounding him.

They each had their faces covered behind eerily looking masks, a clear sign that they were a cult. Their appearance sold them out.

"Who are you, and what do you want?" one of them asked, his tone laced with both fury and fear.

"You do not qualify to know who I am. Just know that I am here to deliver judgment..."

"Judgement on what crime?"

"Aiding and abetting the rise of the Dark Princess..."

Hearing Kaizo’s answer, the 7 hooded figures tried to make a run for it. However, they were too slow, considering they were facing Kaizo. He isn’t the fastest out there, yet he was faster than them.

"Lightning Domain." A net fashioned from lightning fell on the building, trapping them all. Kaizo smiled, and he moved, a terrifying fist landing on one of them.

He was blasted through the walls of the building, slamming into the lightning net. What followed was him getting burned by the overcharged power of Kaizo’s divine lightning.

The rest weren’t far behind.

In under ten minutes, they were groaning on the ground, their bodies burnt beyond recognition.

Even if Kaizo were to leave them now, it wouldn’t be long before all seven of them breathed their last breath.

However, he was sent here to make sure the Crow Cult was eradicated, so summoning a lightning spear, Kaizo did just as he was told. He drove it through their heads, ending their miserable existence for good.

By then, Krex had also ended his side of the battle, making sure every dead body had its head separated from its body.

"They were weaker than I thought," Krex said, looking at the mess Kaizo had made.

"Yeah. I expected them to put up a fight."

The two sneered, clearly disappointed. However, with the mission completed, they had no choice but to leave.

It took them a heartbeat to teleport their team back. After Nara ended the Dark Princess’s life, they all entered the village to search for the clues left behind for them, just like they did on the previous floors.

"How did it go?" Vexthra asked the moment Kaizo and Krex appeared.

"They’ve been wiped out, every last one of them. They reacted as you predicted."

"Good job."

Kaizo and Krex joined the search.

Vexthra, being a goddess, was able to track a foreign energy form in the village the moment she spread her god sense over it.

This foreign energy was not of the dark kind. It was mere spiritual qi, the same energy many cultivators used. So she tracked it, and from where it led, she knew the ones responsible for the birth of the Dark Princess were them.

This also meant the Dark Empress could not return to her true self without the help of others. However, to confirm, Vexthra made Kaizo and Krex handle them, and based on the outcome, she would know what to do next.

Now, hearing they reacted aggressively to the accusation that they aided the Dark Empress, she knew she was right all along.

"I guess the Dark Princess was right, the human mind is indeed easy to manipulate," Vexthra muttered, making Uncle Drew take a deep sigh.

"We have to get ahead of this. We cannot allow her to infest this universe, not when the Void Beasts and the Forsaken Race are still a threat."

"Where do you suppose we start from?"

Uncle Drew thought for a moment and replied, "We need to review the Dark records. Since some people betrayed this universe, we need to know more about the Dark War. We might find some clues there.

Though it would be extremely hard to get our hands on these records. The Cult of Wisdom wouldn’t just hand them to us... even if they know we are Night Riders."

Vexthra smiled and even giggled a little. "You have nothing to worry about. I know someone who can get it for us."

"Who?" Uncle Drew asked with his brow furrowed.

"Who else if not Kent. He had joined the Cult of Wisdom without even knowing it."

Uncle Drew smiled. "Why am I not surprised?"
