Chapter 1793: Why...?
Chapter 1793: Why...?
Somewhere deep within him, Kent suspected he would be meeting this person. Call it gut feeling or merely natural observation, but everything he had experienced had the Paragon’s fingerprints all over it.
However, he could also tell he wasn’t here because of the Paragon.
He could tell he had come here of his own accord; he just didn’t know whether it was due to his past incarnation or someone else entirely.
But after everything, he knew the Paragon was involved. After all, whenever he broke the rules to grow stronger, the Paragon always seemed to be there, making sure the laws stayed in their place.
Seeing the familiar face of the Paragon, Kent truly believed he might just be the good-looking one after all.
"Was the whole hook-to-horn thing really necessary?" He stood up and wiped the invisible dirt from his arm.
"You were taking too long to get here, so I had to hasten your pace," Paragon replied, throwing his fishing line back into the water. Kent smirked and walked to his side, and when he got close, a chair materialized out of thin air, and he sat on it.
Kent took his time, first examining his surroundings.
Aside from the river, which he knew contained no fish, there was also a vast forest around them, filled with what Kent could only describe as a wondrous miracle.
He could tell that the very air flowing through the shade of the trees was made up of all kinds of Laws, Daos, and even Eternal Laws.
It was as if the owner of this realm had imprisoned these Laws, making them nurture everything that came here. Seeing this, he finally understood why the longer one spent with her, the more powerful and full of potential they became.
It turned out that just by breathing here, one grew stronger. Kent was stunned by this, but what shocked him even more were the thirteen moons in the sky.
This came as a shock because inside his Tower, there were also thirteen moons, which he believed represented the thirteen lives he had lived. So if that was the case, didn’t this mean he was...
"So I am the Chaos Ascension King, huh?" he asked, and Paragon smirked.
"Obviously. It is sad you never realized this from the beginning." Paragon said with a chuckle...
"But how? Usually, when I get to an unfamiliar yet familiar place, it triggers my memories. The only trigger I got upon coming here was that of my incarnation who lived during the Sun Era, and it had nothing to do with me being the Chaos Ascension King. So how is that possible?"
He took a deep breath and asked a direct question. "Is the Chaos Ascension King one of my thirteen incarnations?"
"No," Paragon replied, turning to look at Kent. "The Chaos Ascension King is you, the real you..."
"The real me. I don’t understand."
Paragon smiled and answered, "Of course you don’t. None of this makes any sense, and I cannot interfere with your life, so I cannot say much. But know this: a very long time ago, I assembled a team of seven powerful warriors, of whom you were a part.
Our mission concerned the fate of Existence. And when I say Existence, I mean everything. The planets, galaxies, universes, and multiverses... everything that is known and yet to be known.
The mission was simple: save Existence from something far more dreadful. We fought, and we failed. Terribly, really. We were trashed beyond repair...hehe"
Kent furrowed his brow, a bit amused. "Are you saying there was someone more dreadful than you, the Paragon?"
Paragon smirked, also amused by what Kent had said. "Let’s not stray away from the topic. So we lost, but we didn’t, because before it could end for us, we got a second chance from an unlikely ally.
This person gave us a chance to start over again, but this time, on our own terms. I am the Paragon, so naturally, I was the perfect person to make sure you seven didn’t stray from your path.
To win, we all had to become the best of the best. We already were, but we weren’t the best, considering we came close to dying. But this time, things will be different because, guess what, you have a Paragon on your team."
Kent smirked, knowing Paragon was merely blowing his own horn. But he allowed himself to entertain the idea that, a very long time ago, the eight of them had faced an existence they couldn’t defeat.
If that was the case, then just what was that existence, and how powerful did they have to be to stop it? Most importantly, what did a person have to do to become one of the best, someone worthy to be a part of such a team?
"Tell me something, Paragon. Looking at me now, do you think I am on the right path, or am I still lacking?"
"The fact that you are here now, seated beside me as a demigod with the power of a Celestial, shows you are on the right path. You are the Primordial Chaos Dragon, buddy.
Your existence is as unbelievable as mine. The only difference between us is that I have no home, but you do, and you have the fate of all Existence behind you."
Paragon smiled and added, "But we have to do better. We have to reach the peak before he awakens. We failed once simply because we underestimated our opponent. But like you always say, there is nothing in Existence or above Existence that cannot be killed.
So, Master of Chaos, now that your journey has finally begun, do well to rise to the occasion, for I have already reached the stage we should be at, and I believe you and the others will too, eventually."
"And where is that stage? Which stage will make me someone worthy to stand between whatever wants to devour Existence and not break out in a cold sweat?"
Paragon chuckled, almost laughing at Kent’s question.
"You know, sometimes I forget you are someone very manipulative, Chaos Dragon. The first time we met, you had just become a Celestial with power that rivaled Eternals. Of course, I knew you still had more to learn, but I underestimated how cunning a dragon could be."
Paragon laughed and added, "You can ask all the questions you want, Kent, but we both know I will not answer you, else I risk ruining everything for you. Some knowledge is meant to be discovered naturally.
So maybe now that you have everything, challenge yourself and rise above all threats. Your universe is in grave danger, so while you may feel like a powerhouse now, don’t underestimate anyone."
Kent smirked and took a deep breath, knowing he had already heard all he had to know.
"Why do I feel like when I return to my universe, my life will be one chaotic moment after another?"
"You are the Primordial Chaos Dragon, so what do you expect? But that is true. Your peaceful days are coming to an end. In fact, I waited for you here to grant you the opportunity to handle one of those threats." Paragon waved his hand, and a scene appeared before Kent.
The scene showed death and destruction scattered across millions of planets.
"This is your universe 10,000 years from today. Something will come up, and you will be unavailable, or more accurately, occupied. During that time, the Dark Empress will attack with her Dark Fiends, and this will be the result.
But I can grant you the chance to kill her today, if you are up for it."
