Chapter 1830: Dual Plane Assault
Chapter 1830: Dual Plane Assault
The plan was rather simple, yet it required decisive action.
Vargus, Nara, Eryndor, and the three hell demons were meant to attack on the outside, while Uncle Drew, Xuanli, Lene, and Saden were meant to attack in the soul plane.
This plan was possible simply because Xuanli was perhaps the only person in existence who could transport physical beings into the soul plane.
With her uncanny ability, Uncle Drew, who was known for his strategic planning and insidious ideas, came up with perhaps the most badass plan ever, allowing the battle to be split in two.
The problem, however, had to do with how they would get themselves into the soul of the Black Fire Demon Dragon. Xuanli would have to make physical contact with it before she could pull herself and everyone else into its soul.
But getting close to the dragon was, as one would say, virtually impossible. However, there was a solution, and it came in the form of a wraith.
Nara’s bloodline allowed her to take on the form of a wraith, so she activated it, allowing her to become nothingness. That nothingness allowed her to bypass the pressure being produced by the Black Fire Demon Dragon.
While she couldn’t maintain that form for long, she could keep it activated long enough to get close to the Black Fire Demon Dragon.
So Xuanli turned into a giant sword, and within her were hidden Uncle Drew, Saden, and Lene. All Nara had to do was get close and attack, which she did.
With the sword making contact with the Black Fire Demon Dragon, Xuanli entered its soul, bringing the others with her.
Now, the battles on the outside and inside the soul would be determined by how long they could hold on.
After all, despite invading its soul, the Black Fire Demon Dragon was able to keep its composure on the outside. It shook off the three hell demons and even unleashed a breath attack, pushing Vargus back.
But now that it had to defend against soul attacks, the battle on the outside had to be won no matter what.
Nara eyed the crystal on the Black Fire Demon Dragon’s chest and sighed. That was what they came for, and to get it, they would have to defeat the Black Fire Demon Dragon once.
Since it was an undead dragon, death was basically something they could not guarantee. But they didn’t need it to stay permanently dead. They just needed it to die for a few seconds so they could take the Night Heart.
"Vargus, keep it distracted. I have a plan," Nara, now back in her humanoid form, said before taking a step forward and disappearing from sight.
Vargus sighed and nodded. Then his body exploded with so much force that the ground beneath his feet split apart. He also disappeared and reappeared before the Black Fire Demon Dragon before attacking.
His axe carved a deadly arc through the air, landing a huge blow on the dragon’s side. However, instead of leaving a cut, his axe bounced back, sending vibrations through his arms.
He was besieged the next second, a powerful tail arriving before him like a whip. Luckily, Thrakos arrived and blocked the blow, sending a powerful shockwave flying in all directions.
Zandros and Kha’zixarath also attacked, but even though they poured all their energy into their attacks, not even a dent appeared on the hard, metallic-like skin of the Black Fire Demon Dragon.
"Just great. At this rate, we might as well tickle it," Vargus said with a smirk, jumping back to evade a claw attack. He knew he had to keep it busy, just as Nara had instructed.
Luckily for him, he wouldn’t have to do it alone since he had the three hell demons with him. But there was someone else who had been missing from the battle.
Eryndor seemed to have vanished from the battlefield. However, in truth, he had flown much higher and was setting up an attack formation that, if he could complete it fast enough — or at least before Vargus and the others were overwhelmed — would tilt the battle in their favour.
Of course, Nara also seemed to have something planned, but for now, Vargus and the three hell demons would have to hold back the Black Fire Demon Dragon for as long as they could.
Inside its soul, however, things were much different.
The Black Fire Demon Dragon had formed thousands of soul dolls, each imbued with the power of death and darkness.
Uncle Drew and the team inside its soul were now locked in a deadly dance of death and slaughter, the kind that would require one of two things: either they kill faster, which, according to Xuanli, would make its soul vulnerable, allowing them to wound it, or they get overrun and die in there.
So far, they were holding their own.
Uncle Drew had already gone full-on battle mode, cutting down one soul doll after another. In fact, he was cutting them down so fast that even the Black Fire Demon Dragon seemed to feel threatened by him.
Uncle Drew didn’t want the battle to last long, since he had already sensed danger nearby, so he wasn’t holding back at all.
And he wasn’t the only one. Lene was like a blur of death, her spear stabbing, slashing, and shattering the soul dolls every second. Wherever she passed, dozens of soul dolls died.
Saden was equally lethal with her bow. She had augmented her body and bow with her shadow spirit, so every arrow she fired was several times stronger than it would have been if she hadn’t augmented her bow.
As for Xuanli, since she was versed in soul attacks, she was the one dealing the most damage. She had unleashed her own soul army, making sure they fought and perished, knowing that regardless of the outcome, they needed only one death.
But achieving that was impossible, especially when the more they killed, the more soul dolls kept coming.
"I really hope the battle on the outside is going well. Beating an undead soul is virtually impossible," Xuanli said, plucking more strings on her zither.
"Just focus on keeping it distracted here. I trust them to pull it off," Uncle Drew said, cutting down soul dolls like they were bugs.
Kent remained standing with the lolis, watching the battle with a calm expression.
While only a few days had passed on the outside since the Dark War, months had passed inside the tower, so he had done so much, even fully exploring all the towers with the exception of the Harem Tower.
This meant that, aside from a couple of things he had planned for later, he was free to do whatever he wanted.
He had initially wanted to use the time to spend some relaxing moments with his wives, but they were with his sister, who had become something akin to both their teacher and friend.
They had said that when they were done, they would let him know.
So he left for the Dead World when he learned Uncle Drew and his team had arrived in the Black Star Domain. Knowing the kind of horror they would be facing, he decided to come and watch, and if they needed help, he would offer it.
So far, he was calmly standing there, watching the battles on both the soul and physical planes.
