Chapter 1831: Death Qi Manipulation
Chapter 1831: Death Qi Manipulation
Kent, with his Eyes of Chaos active, could see both the battles happening on the outside and inside the Black Fire Demon Dragon’s soul.
Everything lay bare before him, almost as if the astral and physical planes were one.
Of course, it took someone with a much more robust soul to peer into another being’s soul and watch what was happening inside it. But with everything laid bare before his eyes, he could basically tell how the battles were going and who was going to win.
"Big Brother, do you think Big Sisters and Big Brothers will win this battle?" Akira asked, also watching the battle on both planes.
"Unless something happens soon, I am sure they will lose," Kent didn’t sugarcoat his words. He said it exactly as it was, and that made the little ladies beside him frown a bit.
They had clearly come to cheer on their Big Sisters and Big Brothers, so hearing they would lose didn’t sit right with them.
Luckily, before they could despair, something did happen.
Up in the air, Eryndor slammed the blunt end of his staff down, meeting nothing but air. However, despite there not being any solid ground beneath his feet, the staff struck an invisible wall, causing a formation to materialize.
The moment the formation appeared, Kent felt the air around the Black Fire Demon Dragon grow cold. It was as if Eryndor had unleashed an ice-based attack.
However, no ice formed.
Rather, he saw the death qi in the air begin to converge on a single spot.
Naturally, this piqued his interest, and he decided to focus on it further.
It took less than ten seconds for him to clearly see what was happening. ’No way.’
His brow furrowed, and before he could say anything, the moment Eryndor had been waiting for arrived.
Just as the Black Fire Demon Dragon grew more tense and was about to turn its attention to the chilling sensation in the air, a second formation appeared within the first, and from its core, a black beam exploded forward.
It took less than a moment for the beam to reach its chest and explode upon contact. The explosion was violent and chilling.
In fact, the explosion was death itself. The moment it happened, the entire space around the Black Fire Demon Dragon collapsed, revealing the void.
But while such a shocking sight was enough to stun anyone, for the first time since the battle began, the Black Fire Demon Dragon had sustained an injury.
And while it was the first, it was also devastating.
A large wound appeared on its chest despite its colossal body and super-hard skin having blocked every deadly attack that had been launched at it over the past couple of minutes.
"Don’t allow it to heal!" Eryndor’s voice came from the air just before a deadly tail came striking toward him. He conjured a shield, but it shattered upon impact with the tail.
Luckily, Eryndor had already teleported away, having accomplished his goal of injuring the Black Fire Demon Dragon and creating an opportunity for his companions to finally hurt it.
Vargus and the rest didn’t waste any time. All their attacks were aimed at the injured part of its body, resulting in what could be considered their first real chance of success. Well, at least they were trying to kill it while it was trying to stay alive.
They each wanted success, but only one side could remain standing. From Kent’s perspective, the outcome of this battle was rapidly approaching.
Unlike most, who had no idea where Nara had gone, he had known where she was from the very beginning and what she had been doing ever since she vanished.
He knew that Nara’s wraith form could only be used for fifteen minutes every twenty-four hours.
In that form, she had access to a unique attribute called Nothingness. This attribute allowed her to ignore all forms of physical attacks and even fade out of existence.
While faded out of existence, one requires a special type of perception to see her. Kent possessed the Eyes of Chaos, so he could see her even in her wraith-like state of nothingness.
She had used that form to send Xuanli and the others into the Black Fire Demon Dragon’s soul. Now, she was using it again to prepare an attack, just as Eryndor had done.
Initially, Kent had no idea what she had been up to.
But as time slowly passed, he sensed that she had been channeling death qi into her sword. Using her extensive knowledge of Death and swordsmanship, she continuously refined it by merging her sword energy with the death qi.
Slowly, she had been sharpening the death qi itself, something that required extreme focus for anyone whose understanding of both sword qi and death qi isn’t high enough.
Clearly, Nara wasn’t someone to underestimate when it came to energy manipulation.
But she kept her focus on Death Qi Manipulation, and just when she had only two minutes left before her wraith form expired, Eryndor created the opening she needed to make her move.
She waited and watched as Vargus sent the dragon’s head whipping back, and the three hell demons further expanded the wound on its chest.
This series of actions, while not preplanned, worked in her favour.
So she took it, and before the Black Fire Demon Dragon could regain its balance, she appeared once again, and her sword flashed forward.
"Death Severance."
At first, only a thin line of darkness, so cold and sharp, appeared in the air. But the next second, it exploded outward, and a massive sword arc formed from the fusion of Death Qi and sword energy.
"What the..."
Vargus and the hell demons, who were much closer to the dragon, felt their bodies grow tense as the sword arc appeared.
However, the tense atmosphere soon vanished, replaced by the chilling realization that the sword arc Nara had unleashed was meant to sever even death itself.
As such, the dragon, whose undead nature made it nearly unkillable, was now in danger.
It sensed it, and so did they all.
But before any of them could make a sound or the dragon could move to shield against the attack, it had already happened.
SHRIIINNNKKKK!
The sword arc landed on the Black Fire Demon Dragon’s neck, and at once, the void itself was severed. But it wasn’t the only thing that was cut.
The Black Fire Demon Dragon, whose body was as metallic as it was impervious, was cleaved apart, and its gigantic neck, which had seemed impossible to cut, was completely severed from its colossal body.
In what appeared to be a single instantaneous slash, the Black Fire Demon Dragon had lost its head. Its colossal body remained standing for a brief moment before toppling to the side. Meanwhile, its severed head was flung into the air before crashing heavily onto the ground.
Nara regained her corporeal form and appeared before the Night Heart embedded in its chest. She formed a hand seal and pointed at it.
At first, it trembled. Then, as if held back by something, it stopped. However, Nara had no intention of giving up. She formed more hand seals, and by the time she was done, the Night Heart emerged from the Black Fire Demon Dragon’s chest, shrank, and merged into her own.
"Move back, Lady Nara, before it revives!" Thrakos, the Demon of Dread, shouted.
But Nara merely smiled and turned to face him.
"It is dead, Sir Thrakos..."
