"Huh, you can take me with you?" the Third Undead Princess asked, her expression softening.
All the coldness in her eyes vanished, replaced by the hope that she could leave the Undead Realm with Kaizo and the rest.
There are only two ways for an undead to go to the Infinity Universe.
The first is to sign a contract with a necromancer, something all undead hate. They are prideful beings, so signing a contract with a necromancer is considered beneath them.
The second method, of course, has to do with passing the Trial of the Dao. Those who pass gain the ability to go to the Infinity Universe, never to return to the Undead Realm ever again.
Only a few dare try this method since it is extremely difficult and dangerous. Of course, there is a third method, which mostly depends on the Undead Monarch, who has the means to invade the Infinity Universe through special gateways.
That method was used during the Undead Era when he, alongside the Abyssal and Resentful Races, invaded the Infinity Universe.
These methods all require great sacrifice, so most undead do away with all that and focus more on their lives in the vast and dangerous Undead Realm.
But for someone who wished to leave this place one day, the offer made her forget her anger toward Kaizo and his team.
Kaizo smiled and nodded. "We can take you with us, but you will be restricted in the places you can go. However, if you want, when we are leaving, you can come with us."
"I would love that," the Third Undead Princess, who goes by Dominique, said with a broad smile. She turned and looked at her subordinate clad in white armor and said,
"Stand down, White Lily."
"But—" White Lily tried to protest, but a glare from Dominique made her shut her mouth. She glared at Sylara, then scoffed, dissolving into sparks of light. Soon, she vanished from sight.
Sylara smirked and sheathed her daggers. Then she deactivated her Blood Tattoos and sat down.
She and White Lily were rivals back in the day. They had fought many times, with their last battle ending with Sylara nearly killing her.
It appears that after all these years, she still hadn’t forgotten that defeat. Unfortunately for her, Dominique had no plans to let her have fun torturing Sylara, at least not just yet.
Her happiness mattered more than petty squabbles.
Dominique scanned the faces of all 12 undead and said, "I don’t know why you are here, but completing a red mission was a bad move. In case you are not aware, all 12 of you are among the most wanted people on my father’s hit list.
Getting his hands on you will be the most cherished moment of his life, so you’d better be careful. He hasn’t said anything yet simply because he isn’t available right now.
But he will soon return, and I doubt he will be thrilled to learn that his past enemies are back and have started causing trouble everywhere."
Kaizo smirked and asked, "Where is he, by the way?"
"Father left for the Abyssal Realm a couple of years back to have a meeting with the Abyssal Empress and the Resentful Monarch."
Kaizo and his teammates narrowed their eyes, and Zareth asked in a deep tone, "Does this meeting have anything to do with the return of the Underworld Empress?"
Dominique frowned a bit. "Maybe, but why do you ask? The last I checked, you guys are from the Infinity Universe, so how do matters of the Underworld concern any of your business?"
Vaelros responded, "It is our concern because if he dares attack that place, he will lose, and this time, I am sure the Master will kill him for good."
Dominique frowned even more deeply. "I don’t understand. How do matters of the Underworld concern the Bone Lich Undead Emperor?"
The last she checked, the Underworld, while connected to the Infinity Universe, had its own ruler, and that ruler was the Underworld Empress.
She and the Undead Monarch had been enemies in the past, and so, naturally, they mostly fought whenever they met. Kent isn’t affiliated with the Underworld, so why would attacking it provoke his wrath?
"It is not our business to tell you why the Master will retaliate. However, know that the Master and the Underworld Empress share a very close bond. Attacking her would surely provoke his wrath, and trust me, if the last time you faced only a few thousand of us, then prepare for millions this time.
So if you have your father’s ear, make sure he doesn’t attack there, or don’t say we didn’t warn you."
Kaizo made sure she understood their stance. Thankfully, Dominique wasn’t one too deeply connected to her father, so she merely smiled and said,
"I don’t care what he does. But I will make sure he doesn’t doom the rest of us. That said, their meeting is mostly focused on the Abyssal Chaos, so maybe he wouldn’t attack the Underworld just yet.
But you have to hurry, finish your mission, and leave before he returns. I know with certainty he will figure out your identities even if I help you, so hurry with your mission and leave."
"Does that mean you wouldn’t be leaving with us?" Sylara asked.
"As long as I can return before my father notices I was gone, then sure, I will go with you. I want to meet that bastard and tell him a piece of my mind."
Kaizo nodded, and his team wasn’t too bothered that bringing her along might be a bad thing for Kent. They were more concerned with just how much trouble she would cause when she met Kent.
Regardless, she wouldn’t kill him, so they weren’t too worried.
Their meeting soon turned to catching up, with most of the questions being about Kent. They answered every last one of her questions, and when the meeting ended, she left.
A week later, the time for the wine-and-dine event arrived. Kaizo and his team attended, and by the time the event ended, they had become one of the many mercenary teams on Lord Lamine’s payroll.
Two weeks after that, they arrived in the Supreme Undead Heaven for their final mission.
