Chapter 1866 Dia's Rebirth
Chapter 1866 Dia's Rebirth
Someone without fate or destiny isn't meant to wield the power of an Overlord.
The Fateless are beings lost in the dust of power and struggle. They are meant to be controlled by someone or something. The moment they try to claim their own destiny, they are considered to have defied the natural order of things.
Dia is both Fateless and Destinyless, meaning that even if she wishes to reclaim her fate, she has no fate to rely on, leaving her a lost soul.
That is, if she even has a soul to begin with.
Her entire existence depended on someone, and that person was Kent. She lived because of Kent. She was his heart demon, and that alone was more than one could fathom.
One's entire existence relies on a single soul...
But she wasn't anymore, and that meant she was destined to die. One without fate and destiny, having lost their master (Kent), cannot live anymore...
But the one who transformed her into a heart demon forgot one major thing... they took away her destiny, leaving her with nothing.
In a sense, she was someone lost to everything and nothing.
She couldn't die, not even if she wanted to. Unless, of course, she allowed the person who had made her into the heart demon to take over her mind, soul, and body.
That also revealed the second problem.
Dia had something worth living for. She had her sisters, and she had Kent, so to hell with allowing her soul to be taken over. She would fight, and thus she fought, pouring everything into the battle.
Before Kent's intervention, she had been suppressed inside her soul sea by a version of herself that had succumbed to the corruption, becoming a corrupted heart demon.
However, things were reversed now. She stood there, looking at the mangled body of her corrupted self, a part of her saddened that she had been corrupted against her free will.
However, she wasn't about to show sympathy and release this version of her.
The problem, however, was that she couldn't kill her either. She had tried but failed, leaving her with limited options... perhaps no options at all.
Suddenly, however, she narrowed her eyes as a portal formed, and a young white-haired man walked out, holding a white apple.
"Oh my, what do we have here... a Fateless, huh?" The white-haired man smiled and stopped beside the mangled and bound body of the corrupted heart demon.
Dia narrowed her eyes at the white-haired man and asked, "Who are you, and how did you get inside my soul sea?"
She knew that for someone to do something like that, they had to be unimaginably powerful. Not even Kent had the means to do so, which was why he could only aid her from the outside.
But this white-haired young man had just walked into her soul sea as though it were the most natural thing in the world...
"Oh, pardon my rudeness. I find it normal to go anywhere I want, so I forgot about privacy." He smiled and introduced himself. "You can call me the Paragon of the Nine Stars. Pleasure meeting you."
Dia narrowed her eyes even further, trying to remember if she had encountered someone with that name during the 13 lives she had lived. She came up empty, though she seemed to recall Kent mentioning the name before.
Thus, she asked, "You wouldn't happen to know the Primordial Chaos Dragon, would you?"
"Oh, him? We go way back, you see. He is the third most handsome person in all of the multiverse, after all, so we know each other pretty well."
Dia frowned, clearly not expecting to hear such a response.
She had only wanted to find out whether Kent knew the Paragon, but the latter had to make sure she knew that her man ranked third on the list of the most handsome men in the multiverse.
Out of curiosity, Dia asked, "Who are the second and first most handsome, then?"
Paragon laughed. "Inasmuch as I would love to take the crown, I rank second. The first position goes to a friend of ours. He's one rude motherfucker, but good-looking. Many don't even hate him because of his good looks...ah, I hate redhead men the most."
Dia could only sigh, knowing there were clearly levels of shamelessness, and this bastard had long since graduated...
"Then why are you here?"
"Why else, if not to save your life?" Paragon gestured forward as the apple flew from his hand and landed in Dia's palm. "A very long time ago, the Primordial Chaos Dragon asked me for a favor, and today I'm delivering what he wanted you to have.
Eat it, and you will know what to do. Until then, see you, and say hi to Kent for me."
Paragon was gone just as suddenly as he had come. Dia was left stunned, staring at the apple in her palm.
She was both stunned and shaken that Kent had already made plans for today. Maybe she had been worried for nothing after all.
Then again, she had no reason to doubt someone who seemed to know her man and even seemed like the type who would mess with the natural order of things for his own amusement.
So she bit into the apple, then took a second bite. Before she knew it, she had consumed the entire apple, and that was when clarity set in.
She formed a series of hand seals and pointed at the mangled body of the corrupted heart demon. A small black hole formed at her fingertips, and then it started devouring the corrupted heart demon.
On the outside, the cocoon that had been riddled with thousands of hair-like stabs started to crack and dissolve. In no time, everyone could tell that the moment for Dia to emerge had come.
Within five minutes, the cocoon was gone, and what remained was a cocoon of hair radiating a power that made Kent furrow his brow.
"She will be coming out as a completely different person."
Three days later, she did.
The hair cocoon exploded open, and a woman with long, wavy silver hair appeared, walking barefoot, her body covered in a crimson tunic fashioned from hair-like material.
Every step she took left a crimson lotus on the ground. Of course, the only thing everyone was focused on was her exceptionally long, wavy hair, cascading down her back, sweeping the floor with several strands falling over her shoulders.
Kent smiled, and as he lifted his head, he met Dia's gaze.
That was when he finally came face-to-face with the person he had wished to have a conversation with.
