Chapter 897: The Apocalypse (1)
Chapter 897: The Apocalypse (1)
Uncle Drake was surrounded on all sides by seven beasts. The sea Dragon that created the diversion was now standing back, smiling at Uncle Drake.
The seven sea beasts now surrounding Uncle Drake are the seven sea Kings.
Right after Lord Leviathan, they were the strongest in the Sea Race. This meant they had considerable strength, and Uncle Drake, who was surrounded on all sides, knew he was indeed in a bind.
’Breaking through would be hard. But even if I manage to break through, the chances of me shaking them off would be very low. In essence, I need to hold them back and hope the others can hold on until Kent arrives.’
"No need to overthink this, Dragon," the Manta Ray Sea King said with a smile. "Thanks to you injuring Lord Leviathan, we were able to subdue and trap him.
So, while this mission is a risky one, I don’t think you will be able to use him to end things. He won’t be breaking free for another ten thousand years. Meaning, unless he breaks a limit that will multiply his lifespan, he will die in the trapped state.
That said, we know we can’t kill you, but we can hold you back long enough for them to arrive."
Without allowing Uncle Drake to ask a question, he attacked, and the six others also attacked. Uncle Drake was forced to swallow his words, and then he attacked as well.
"What should we do?" one of the Elven generals asked, looking at the million-plus sea beasts staring at them.
The moment the sea beasts moved, they knew they would be overrun in minutes. Initially, when only the seahorses attacked, they managed to hold them back and even killed most of them; however, things are different now.
"Prepare to die," A Crab general shouted, pointing his weapon at the Elves. However, before he could give the command to charge forward, the void cracked, and a large ship appeared, followed by a commanding voice.
"The Shadow Demons have arrived." Standing on the deck of the ship were tens of thousands of shadow demons, each clad in dark armour, wielding short swords, daggers, or crossbows.
The void cracked again, and another ship appeared: "The Flame Demons have arrived." The same process repeated itself a few more times, and soon, all seven demon states had arrived, even including the Dark Elves.
But they aren’t the last to appear, the void cracked again, and three large devices housing thousands of arrows fell from it. They quickly fell and moved toward the centre of the Sea Beast formation.
Thousands of sea beasts moved to intercept. However, before they could reach it, a forcefield exploded from the three devices, and then a commanding voice came from the void: "Explode."
The three devices came to a standstill, then a powerful explosion rocked the sea. In an instant, over a hundred thousand sea beasts were reduced to nothing, the sea below them turning crimson.
"The Dwarves have also arrived." The mechanised ship of the Dwarves appeared, bringing hope to thousands of Elves.
The Dwarves are known for building some of the most powerful weapons for war, so their appearance and show of strength boosted morale, even if only for a moment.
The moment their ships arrived, attacks rang out from the sea as furious sea beasts started attacking the ships.
"Attack!"
However, with their numbers now slightly boosted, the Elves charged forward. The demons were second to charge, and the Half-Elves who had arrived with Uncle Drake also attacked.
A few seconds later, the void cracked again, and the Beast Race also arrived and joined the battle. The dragons, on the other hand, had yet to arrive.
However, with the Elves, Half-Elves, demons, Dwarves, and the Beasts already in combat, the battle was slowly taking shape.
Spells flew through the air with deadly accuracy, chants echoed, and weapons clashed as the chaos of the battle slowly took shape.
Uncle Drake was being held back; however, looking at the seven Sea Kings, one could tell they weren’t having it easy, for they had already sustained multiple wounds.
However, they were holding him back because they knew holding him back was the only chance they had in winning the battle, or at least killing as many as they could.
Twenty minutes into the battle, the dragons also appeared, bringing their power to the fight. However, even so, more and more Sea Beasts kept coming out, making the reinforcements less effective than they were supposed to be.
With warriors like Queen Jascia on the battlefield, the Sea Beasts weren’t having it easy. Yet, thirty minutes into the battle, a crab-like sea beast appeared and held back Queen Jascia.
The same thing repeated itself across the battlefield. The powerhouses of Sonox are being held back by the strongest of the Sea Race.
Thankfully, a select few on the battlefield had received Kent’s generosity, so with them doing the most, the battle was at least not as brutal as it was supposed to be.
"It is like there are endless Sea Beasts. Just where are they coming from?" a dragon asked as he clawed the face of a seahorse, sending it flying back several meters.
Everyone was wondering the same thing, for nobody understood that there were so many sea beasts in the world.
What they didn’t know was that, when it comes to the Sea Race, they have millions of warriors to use in battle, for they hold the biggest stretch of land in the world. The sea is vast, and they have seven kingdoms, each housing millions of sea creatures.
If they didn’t have this many fighters, they might as well just become mere food.
However, regardless of their number, the mission was to kill them, and thus, they were being killed.
But just like how they were being killed, they also weren’t sparing the warriors of Sonox.
"Lord Qilin, can you go help Uncle Drake. He can’t use his powerful attacks for that will hurt our side, and holding back isn’t helping either?" Queen Jascia called out when she saw Uncle Drake wasn’t finding an opening at all.
He was their strongest, and with him held back, the alliance was slowly dying, for the sea beasts just kept coming endlessly.
Lord Qilin looked at the battle happening between Uncle Drake, who held a calm expression, and the seven sea Kings who were wounded in many places.
"I will do my best," Lord Qilin dashed toward the Manta Ray, hoping to catch it unnoticed. However, just when he was about to approach the Manta Ray, a whip came out of nowhere, lashing at him.
He halted, created a barrier, and used it to block the whip.
From thin air, a man clad in green metallic armour with a lion face mask appeared.
"Lion Fang," Lord Qilin said coldly, looking at the man who appeared. He held a lightning whip in his firm grip.
"Long time, Father," Lion Fang, one of the seven Fangs of the Hand, spoke, making Lord Qilin, who usually looked calm and comported himself well, frown as a powerful killing intent burst out of his body.
"You are no son of mine." With a powerful attack, Lord Qilin charged at Lion Fang, who was smiling behind his mask.
He was the eldest son of Lord Qilin, who defected and joined the Hand in their conquest of the world. Lord Qilin tried to kill him once, but Amix, the leader of the Hand, intervened, which resulted in a long battle that ended with Lord Qilin wiping her cultivation base by a few refinement levels.
However, even with that big win, Lord Qilin only wanted one thing, and that was to kill the traitorous son of his who betrayed an entire empire of beasts to side with the enemy.
Their battle soon took shape.
A shadow demon appeared through the shadows and beheaded a sea beast. However, before he could move away, a Manta Ray blasted him with lightning.
Mid-air, a seahorse appeared overhead, aiming a water spear at his chest. With the posture the shadow demon was in, he wouldn’t be able to defend himself.
The water spear stabbed toward his chest. However, just when it was mere inches away, a voice boomed, followed by lightning that blasted the seahorse to ashes.
"Here I come."
