Chapter 921: Amix’s Fate
Chapter 921: Amix’s Fate
Inside a dark room, where the high-pitched squeaks, clicks, and chirps of bats could be heard, lay a beautiful lady chained with special bindings imbued with lightning.
Her wrists were bound in a rather soft substance, preventing them from bleeding or turning red. Perhaps her jailors weren’t entirely cruel.
However, if one looked closely, they would see a faintly glowing purple runic mark on her forehead.
The same mark appeared on Kent’s forehead as he walked into the Tower Prison.
He was done with matters outside, and with two weeks remaining before the sect competition, which he planned to participate in this time, he intended to deal with some of his tasks first.
The first task, of course, was to interrogate Amix, the once-leader of the Hand.
Kent didn’t believe for one second that she was innocent, nor that she had simply been brainwashed into doing what she did.
Colluding with the Forsaken Race was a crime punishable by death to the last descendant. She had sinned gravely. However, she wasn’t entirely consumed by darkness, nor beyond redemption.
In truth, she had been manipulated by Deva into committing those crimes. Of course, she wasn’t the only one, so Kent wanted to learn about the others by first learning about Amix.
The purple rune was merely a truth detector given to him by Alina. Little did she know, Kent could delve into Amix’s mind and extract whatever he wished.
"You look cosy," Kent said as he appeared before Amix’s cell.
The once dignified leader of the Hand, now in chains, raised her head and glared at him. Her eyes were filled with anger.
Kent simply smiled at her expression.
"Since this happens to be our first meeting, what do you say we have a nice discussion? I happen to be in a good mood today, so why don’t we keep it that way?"
The anger in Amix’s eyes deepened. "Just kill me, because I will not tell you anything."
Kent laughed, retrieved a chair from his space ring, and sat down. "Who said I came here to fish for information? I merely came to have a nice discussion."
Amix remained motionless, but Kent didn’t mind. In fact, he found satisfaction in the defiance written on her face.
"I will speak, and you would do well to listen." Kent truly just came to have a nice discussion.
"When I first learned that you were the one who opened the Forsaken Door, my very first thought was to sever your head from your body.
However, after sitting down to think about it, I realised killing you would be an act of mercy. After all, your rebellion was crushed, wiped from the face of the universe. Every last hope you had of becoming some princess in the Forsaken Race vanished along with them.
Your precious Hand was obliterated, and every last fang of your organisation was killed in the most agonising way possible.
So, essentially, you lost everything. That means killing you would actually be the kindest fate you could hope for."
"This is why I won’t be killing you today, nor ever. Instead, two doors now open before you. By the end of this discussion, one will slam shut in your face, and the other will close firmly behind you.
So why don’t you relax your heart and listen? Trust me, you wouldn’t want to miss a single word."
Kent laughed, but his laughter lacked friendliness.
"First, I recently received a rather unique ability that requires a human or a beast to cultivate. Now, I don’t want to sound like that evil cultivator whom everyone fears.
However, whatever thought came to your mind at this moment is indeed right on point. I plan on turning you into a living furnace to cultivate a seal which I know will hurt like hell.
It won’t kill you, but you will wish it would. That is my first offer, and it is for you to become my furnace to cultivate a technique"
Amix, who was already pale, turned even whiter. But Kent’s eyes showed no sympathy.
"Second, a subordinate of mine has just discovered a way to turn the living into half-dead. You will accept her offer and become half-dead, which means you will partially become half-undead.
When that ends, you will be sent to a world where you will undergo a life-or-death trial. If you pass, your life will be spared. If you fail, your life will end in the most agonising way possible."
Kent stood up. "You can think of your answer and let me know whenever you are ready."
With that, Kent vanished from the prison, leaving behind a panting Amix whose face was dark with both anger and fear. The offer Kent gave her was something she would never want to go through—especially the first one.
The second, however, was shrouded in uncertainty. She didn’t know what the trial Kent spoke of would be like, but she knew that anything other than being killed outright was already a fate worse than death.
Kent left and returned to the Sword Tower.
It was only after he sat down that a smile appeared on his face.
"Though the first offer was a lie, the second will give Yi Lai exactly what she wanted."
Yi Lai had received an ability that allows her to send ordinary people to a dragon world called Abyssmy. Though its name is funny, it is a place where all who appear there would undergo a dragon trial, and if they passed, they would become dragons.
Yi Lai, who could only turn dragons into her undead, knew this was her chance to expand her army. She would turn Amix into a half-undead, and then, after Amix passed the trial, she would become a full undead dragon under Yi Lai’s control.
However, if Amix failed, being half-undead meant she wouldn’t die even if the dragons tore her apart. And living in a world filled with rogue dragons wasn’t exactly ideal.
Yi Lai had warned her that if she failed the trial, she would suffer unimaginable pain. So with that fear instilled in her, she will work harder to pass.
After all, the only reason she is still alive is due to her unique constitution and the prospect of what she will become in the future.
Kent then began tallying everything he had left to handle before ascending.
"I now have four memory keys for Chaos and Jest. As for Faceless, I only have three more to go. If I manage to review all three memories, I’m sure my combat power will take a huge leap.
Aside from that, I also have to review my new cultivation method and the gifts from my Blood Enlightenment. I need to handle those carefully.
Then I must become a Sword Sage and, if possible, a Sword King.
Then there’s the matter of becoming a Pill Saint—or even a Pill Sage.
Luckily for me, I know exactly where to go to achieve my first breakthroughs. But gaining nine more enlightenments on the sword path will be a true headache."
Kent scratched the back of his head. The workload remaining to be handled was overwhelming. Though he had already become undisputed even against a Heavenly Ascension stage expert, Kent knew that true dominance was not yet his.
He had yet to face a Heavenly Ascension stage expert from a Supreme High World. Naturally, the reason he wanted to reach all these stages was thanks to what he saw during his Blood Enlightenment.
He knew where he had to go after he ascended, and knowing that, he realised he had to grow much stronger before he could ascend.
"That’s it. I must become a Sword King, a Pill King, form 10,000-plus Flame Veins, and forge the first Blood Core Gate before ascending. This means I must visit the past more often.
Additionally, there is the issue of the Life Blood Seal and the Death Blood Seal I acquired through my enlightenment.
But first, I have to handle these memories."
Kent took out a memory key and activated it, flooding his mind with memories directly.
