Chapter 601: Reunion
Chapter 601: Reunion
Ainen, Saffa, Clovelle, Fraisea, and Gopu flew towards Natalia and Kayla, who were facing the five fancy bronze humanoid beings who were completely restricted.
The screens in the skies were also showing Natalia and others as they mulled over the torture way to make a spectacle of those five.
People were interested. After all, it was rare that one would have such a life-and-death fight with crazy bets.
Most people had normal fights with no real consequences.
Moreover, this was an absurd battle between two Tier-4 and two Tier-10. And yet, the Tier-4 players won.
Those with SSS-rank and X-rank potential were rare, so it wasn’t every day that people would see such fights.
"Hold on." Ainen’s voice resounded strongly as he and the gang arrived before Natalia and Kayla.
Natalia turned to them and raised her eyebrows. "What?"
"You two are quite strong." Saffa rubbed her nose. "But we are allies of these five, so you’ll have to go through us."
"People just aren’t tired of courting death all the time." Natalia snorted. "If you want to fight, you’ll get a fight. But if we win, you’ll become my servants forever."
"Sounds perfect." Ainen wickedly grinned. "We will do two versus two. But you will be fighting us. You’ll be fighting the two behind you."
Natalia and Kayla were surprised because they were not sensing anything behind them, not even in their radars.
But when they turned around, they saw two people.
Two very familiar people.
Almond and Lily floated there with smiles.
"What’s up, bitch?" Lily grinned.
Swoosh!
Natalia vanished from her position. In the next moment, she was hugging both Almond and Lily tightly.
Kayla arrived from behind and also hugged them, releasing a reassuring sigh. "I feel so good right now. Can’t believe we reunited so early."
"Pranked the prankster, huh?" Natalia chuckled, her eyes showing the overjoy she felt at meeting the duo.
"Meet Ainen, Saffa, Clovelle, Fraisea, and Gopu." Almond gestured his hand towards Ainen and the gang. "We’ve together since the beginning, and we can’t separate anymore since we are addicted to his food."
"Hello, ladies. I am Chef Ainen, the limitless cook, as everyone says." Ainen smiled. "And these three are the pieces of my heart."
Saffa, Clovelle, and Fraisea introduced themseleves and Gopu roared cutely.
"Well, let’s deal with these five morons first. Gotta make it interesting. Unless anyone wishes to speak up with interesting ideas, I am going to execute the one I thought of." Natalia asked the group.
"Nah, you do it. Let’s see what you cooked." Ainen grinned. "We’ve heard about you from Almond and Lily, Natalia, the pain in the ass."
Natalia proudly smiled. "Being a pain in the ass is the source of my arrogance."
Ainen and others couldn’t help but laugh.
"Not wrong." Lily smiled. "So, what have you thought of?"
Natalia eyed the five bastards with icy glint as she cracked her knuckles.
"Everyone. Life is a balance of stress and happiness, am I correct?"
The audience roared in agreement.
"So here we have five beautiful targets." Natalia waved her hand as she put the five morons in the sky, with 200 meters of distance between each of them. "Let’s balance out some stress."
"Using our victory, I demand that they hang here for five days for all players to freely hit them. They must notreceivee physical harm, but they must perceive the pain of all attacks hitting them. Keep them alive for thirty days and then on the thirty-first day, execute them."
The audience collectively drew in a cold breath.
So cruel!
[Reward Granted]
The voice replied, sealing the fate of those five Tier-10 bronze humanoid.
Volcanic Dogshit was the first to scream.
Someone in the crowd hurled a lightning bolt the size of a spear. It struck his chest and exploded in a crackling bloom of blue-white electricity. His body remained intact due to the restriction, but his face twisted violently as the pain surged through his body.
"AAAAA—!"
The crowd erupted.
A woman floating on a glass platform launched a barrage of ice spears that shattered against another brother’s ribs in flashes of frozen light.
A beastfolk with antlers sent a pulsing sonic blast that made Eggplant Shit convulse in mid-air.
Soon, dozens of attacks began flying.
Fire.
Lightning.
Gravity pulses.
Illusion spikes.
Soundwaves.
Crushing pressure.
All of it slammed into the suspended Tier-10 prisoners one after another, each strike making them howl while their bodies remained perfectly preserved.
The spectacle turned chaotic within minutes.
Some people queued up politely to take a shot.
Others launched attacks from afar like a carnival game.
"Try hitting the crown!" someone shouted. "Its part of their bodies!"
A flaming javelin struck one of the bronze brothers square in the forehead.
He screamed loud enough that the entire district heard it.
Saffa leaned on the railing of Ainen’s floating pavilion and whistled.
"Well... that escalated."
Fraisea crossed her arms, watching calmly. "Public stress relief."
Clovelle smirked. "Natalia understands crowd psychology."
Natalia herself stood with her arms folded, completely unbothered by the growing chaos.
"They wanted a spectacle."
She glanced at the five men writhing in mid-air.
"They got one."
Kayla exhaled slowly, tension finally leaving her shoulders as the adrenaline faded. The glow of her armor dimmed, branch-extensions retracting until only faint green lines remained across her suit.
Below, the audience continued their enthusiastic torment.
Some players began competing for the most creative attacks.
One illusionist created a swarm of phantom hornets that stung Eggplant Shit continuously.
Another player used gravity magic to repeatedly compress and release one of the brothers like a spring.
The screams turned rhythmic.
A strange, brutal carnival.
After watching for a few minutes, Ainen clapped his hands once.
"Alright."
Everyone turned toward him.
"Justice served. Stress balanced. Now we eat."
Natalia blinked.
Then grinned.
"Now that’s a suggestion I like."
An hour later, the group had left the roaring chaos of the entertainment district behind.
They arrived at one of Vorara City’s most luxurious traditional restaurants.
Unlike the floating clubs and cosmic arenas outside, this place looked almost peaceful.
The building resembled an ancient palace carved from dark jade and golden wood. Paper lanterns made of glowing spirit silk floated under the ceiling, casting warm amber light across carved pillars and low tables.
A quiet river of liquid starlight flowed through the center of the restaurant, dividing dining sections with soft shimmering reflections.
Outside the open walls, the sky of Layer 2 stretched endlessly with drifting islands and distant cities glowing like constellations.
They were seated in a private hall overlooking the river.
Soft cushions.
Polished blackwood tables.
A breeze carrying faint incense and roasted spices.
Ainen leaned back comfortably.
"When will we taste your cooking?" Kayla asked Ainen.
"We eat here first. This place seems quite famous and expensive, guaranteeing otherworldly taste." Saffa smiled. "After that, we’ll eat darling’s cooking, and you’ll understand what heavens taste like."
"I like that." Natalia grinned.
Within minutes, the feast began arriving.
Platters of sizzling astral-beast meat glazed with golden honeyfire.
Crystal bowls filled with steaming moon-grain rice.
Grilled sky-eel brushed with glowing herb oils.
Layered spirit-fruit desserts that shimmered with faint rainbow light.
And of course—
Alcohol.
Large bottles of shimmering amber liquor and deep violet wine appeared across the table.
Natalia grabbed a cup immediately.
"Tonight we celebrate."
Kayla poured drinks for everyone.
"To reunion," she said.
Glasses lifted.
"To reunion."
They drank.
The alcohol burned pleasantly, spreading warmth through exhausted bodies.
For the first time since the fight began, the tension truly faded.
Ainen was already halfway through carving a massive slab of roasted beast.
"You two fought superbly by the way," he said between bites.
Natalia waved him off.
"Please. That was just a warm-up."
Saffa laughed. "Warm-up? You almost died twice."
"It’s always almost for me." Natalia grinned. "I am working towards making my third deck Fortune-based. I will bend the fickleness of reality in my favor."
"That sounds cool." Fraisea’s eyes shone.
"Luck-based powers are quite annoying to deal with." Ainen nodded.
Clovelle leaned toward Kayla slightly.
"That underground root network... when did you start planting it?"
Kayla smiled faintly.
"First magma eruption."
Everyone paused.
Almond chuckled.
Lily leaned against him, smiling.
"That’s our Kayla."
Gopu sat proudly on the table, devouring an entire roasted sky-eel by himself.
The little dragon roared happily.
More dishes arrived.
More drinks were poured.
Laughter replaced battle tension.
Stories began flowing across the table—about the games they had played, the ridiculous enemies they had fought, and the absurd things they had seen since arriving in the Layer.
Outside the restaurant, Vorara City glowed peacefully under the vast cosmic sky, while people in the entertainment district were hurling attacks at the five stress-release targets.
