Chapter 1021: Frolicking Around

“…The underworld?”

Rael nodded. “I know you might not be that much into it, but trust me when I say, the faster you get your closure, the sooner you’ll stop regretting everything that just happened.”

For one, he was 110% sure she was blaming herself for what had happened to her mother. Both in the past, and now. Rael wished he could do things differently. Hell, he wished he could rewind time on a scale as big as reality, but all that would do was make his life harder, and everyone else’s lives too.

So instead of that, he decided to tackle the present, and so he gave her that offer. From the looks of things, she wasn’t too keen on it, but seeing his expression, she couldn’t help but pause for a moment and rethink everything.

And as it so happened, rethinking it didn’t take long at all, since this opportunity made her realize just how much she really wanted to see her mother.

Therefore, she nodded soon after, giving Rael the go-ahead that he needed.

In the grand scheme of things, there did exist a Heaven and Hell, and a little under Hell was the Underworld. It was ironic that Heaven was considered above, holy and all, but if he were to search for Heaven from Celestara, the realm would be under him.

But in that regard, there weren’t really any set boundaries for these realms, since they seemed nearly infinite once accessed. Hell especially, since it encompassed a much larger entry area than Heaven.

As for the Underworld, it was hard to even put into perspective, since it was simply just that large to enter, as it spanned across every single reality. In that regard, he felt like if he had entered the Underworld in his reality and left it very, very far away, he might just pop out inside another reality altogether.

It really was an unimaginable realm, to say the least.

So after just a few moments, Rael sliced his hand downward, creating a portal straight to the Underworld. It was dark, and the surroundings were oddly hollow. There were people walking around, but they were mostly lifeless.

From the looks of things, this was where the people who had served their sentences in Hell went, or those who had gotten bored of Heaven and all of its nonsense. Her mom was here; that much he was sure of.

“Let’s go in. Don’t touch anything, since even I have no idea what the repercussions could be,” Rael added.

Lilith nodded. “I’ll be careful. So lead the way.”

With that, the two of them stepped through the crack in space he had created, and they found themselves on the other side, inside the Underworld.

Right off the bat, the amount of pressure weighing down on him was unlike anything he had ever felt before. It was powerful, since by the looks of things, it scaled off his own strength.

Lilith was the same, feeling uncomfortable but also hopeful as she looked around. There were plenty of beings here, and most of them seemed gloomy and dark. But there were a few that had more light to them.

Neither Rael nor Lilith could tell what kind of difference there was between these two kinds of beings, but still, they proceeded to walk around for a little while, taking in just how truly giant this whole realm was.

But eventually, they got bored of walking around and decided to get straight to it. Rael took Lilith’s hand and then focused his mana on the whole Underworld. It took a few minutes to scan everything, but soon enough, he found a signature that belonged to Lilith’s bloodline.

Sure, there were some ancestors in the mix too, but Rael couldn’t give two shits about them. Instead, he focused on the lone connection that just so happened to be her mother.

She had wandered very far, actually. She was at least several realities away. She was also glowing, much like some other beings. It was rare, to say the least, but since her soul was alive, that was all that mattered.

“I found her. I’ll create a portal to her now. Anything you want to say or do before we go to her?” Rael asked.

Lilith paused for a moment. “Say or do…? I guess, try not to say anything too embarrassing, since I know my mother would most likely take everything literally.”

“Sure. I can do that,” Rael replied with a chuckle, and then finally created a portal leading straight to where her mother was. After a brief second, the two of them stepped through, arriving in a whole different section of the Underworld altogether.

He had seen it when he was looking around, but there was so much greenery here. Not to mention, it looked like any ordinary world, filled with animals and cities. Every single person was glowing here as well, which led Rael to one particular conclusion.

Those who had no light were those who had completely given up. They had no purpose, and they didn’t enjoy being here. Rael wondered if there was something like reincarnation here, but he had his doubts.

After all, most powerful beings had a way to reincarnate. It wasn’t difficult to send your own consciousness into some point in the past. The only difficult part was going undetected, which was why it was best to just go without powers and build them up once you got there.

Hmm…

Rael thought that reincarnation might not be that bad of an idea. He was technically the Ruler of Reality, so could he just add a fountain of reincarnation here? Whoever entered it would reincarnate as whatever they wanted.

It definitely sounds nice, but it’s also like a pity project… I guess? Rael sighed, deciding to put that on the shelf for now as he glanced ahead, noticing a pale figure that slightly resembled Lilith.

Her mother was sitting on a log, admiring the trees, how they swayed, and how they grew.

And judging from Lilith’s shaky hands, Rael knew this might be a long talk.
