Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 567: Our Chest

Chapter 567: Our Chest

"Hmm..." Evelyn rubbed her chin. "And if I don’t want to help you?"

"Why’d you tell me to come here then?" Rael replied with a raised brow. "Surely it wasn’t because you wanted to drown me, was it?"

"..."

Rael facepalmed. "Come on, Evelyn. You’re making it sound like I’m asking you to marry me."

"You are asking the progenitor to teach you how to do a simple task, Rael," Evelyn said with a sigh. "Listen, you already know enough. The event I prophesied is going to come true very soon, that is, unless you do what has to be done."

"You mean killing Lucien," Rael commented. "While I love the idea, he’s a little slippery. I did a few simulations in my head back then, and Vatyra always intervened. I’m sure his father is going to intervene this time."

"Kareth isn’t someone who would do that," Evelyn replied matter-of-factly. "If anything, he’s likely going to be on board with you killing him."

It was a bit funny how she said that with a straight face, especially while knowing he could tell when someone was lying.

Still, his plan was to kill Lucien. No matter how he looked at it, or whomever he was going to offend... by leaving him alive, Rael would risk him doing something to those he cared about.

And so, during the succession ceremony, Rael was going to do everything in his power to kill him.

But to do that, he wanted to at least refine his mind-invading capabilities.

Therefore, he stared puppy-eyed at Evelyn until eventually, she sighed and pointed at Beatrice.

"Invade her mind. If you do that, then—"

Before she could even finish her words, Rael’s body slumped to the ground. And a moment later, Beatrice began moving her hands unnaturally and making weird faces.

"This about cover it?" Rael asked, pointing at his chest. "By the way, how does one walk around with this thing? It’s like carrying around a giant dumbbell on my chest."

Beatrice’s body began to shake, and less than a second later, Rael was expelled from her body, going back into his own.

She rose from her seat with an angry look.

"You dare stare at my chest?"

"What? It’s not like I touched it," Rael replied, grumbling. "Plus, if it makes you feel any better, when I stared at it, it was technically ’our’ chest."

"..."

Mana began violently gathering around her, but before a fight could break out, Evelyn raised her hand again, stopping it.

"You’ve created a mana core, I assume?" Evelyn asked.

"Indeed," Rael replied. "It’s pretty handy. Makes it a lot easier to melt someone’s brain from the inside. Not that I tried, of course."

He did. It was pretty overpowered.

"So again... Rael," Evelyn muttered. "Just why are you here? What do you think I can teach you?"

"..."

Rael sighed and decided to go with the obvious choice.

"How do I control someone’s mind while also not losing control of my own body?"

All the Mindweavers fell silent, except for Beatrice, who tried her best not to burst out laughing.

"Pfft... You can invade my mind with ease, but I can just take hold of your empty body while you’re in mine. Here I thought you fell down like a decoy, but it turns out you just don’t know what you’re doing," she taunted.

But Rael wasn’t so easily irritated.

"So what? Do you think you could invade my body faster than I can kill you?"

"That’s enough," Evelyn spoke coldly. "I understand you’re lacking the necessary foundation. That, I can teach you. But your constant bickering with Beatrice has given me an ingenious idea."

Rael felt a shiver run down his spine, and before he could ask what she had in mind, his vision darkened.

He lost control of his body, and it felt like he was once again floating aimlessly. But just then, his vision returned, and he found himself in a pitch-white room.

Though he wasn’t alone. Beatrice was right beside him, passed out.

There were two beds, two toilets, and a few necessities like food and water. This space, no matter how he looked at it, was reinforced to the point he couldn’t see what was beyond it.

But still, being inside white rooms made him a little anxious.

This feels like I’m in some solitary psych ward. Yikes. Evelyn really has a way of uhh... throwing me off.

After a few minutes, Beatrice woke up, her expression betraying her thoughts that were identical to his when he had woken up.

"A white room?" Beatrice muttered, turning to him. "You just had to go and get me involved, didn’t you?"

"Well, that’s because you were making fun of our chest," Rael replied with a pout. "If anything, I’m innocent here. It’s your fault for drawing Evelyn’s attention."

"..."

She sported a look of total disbelief, but once again, their bickering was interrupted by Evelyn’s voice that rang out inside their minds.

[You’re both currently inside my pocket dimension. Be nice and don’t try to destroy anything. If you destroy the room, I’m going to annihilate you. That includes you too, Beatrice.]

"Yes, ma’am." Beatrice saluted.

[...]

[V-Very well. The reason I teleported you two there was to play a little game.]

After taking a deep breath, she continued:

[Beatrice. Your goal will be to take over Rael’s body and try to harm him. Not fatally, a mere cut is enough,] she said. [As for you, Rael. Your goal is to take over her body while also keeping her out of yours.]

"I see..." Rael rubbed his chin. "And for how long do I have to keep her out?"

A few seconds or so might be doable, considering he was at rock bottom right now, so—

[One hour.]

"H-Huh? Evelyn?" Rael stammered. "Didn’t you see me earlier? I don’t have any experience with this stuff. Also, I only have a week before the succession ceremony."

[Don’t worry about that,] Evelyn reassured. [Time here moves very slowly. Veeery slowly. Therefore, feel free to go all out with your minds. Oh, and Rael? Good luck.]
