Chapter 695: The Remainder
Chapter 695: The Remainder
In an instant, the bodies of the Ancient Primordials slumped down as they were cut to bits, their souls utterly destroyed.
But amongst the many who had been instantly killed, Autumn somehow remained standing.
Yet her injuries were far from minor, as her limbs were barely attached, and no matter how much she tried, her regeneration wasn’t kicking in nearly fast enough to keep up with what she wanted.
And so, Rael quickly scanned the pop-ups he had just received.
<+4.93% Law of Infinity Mastery!>
There were hundreds of notifications that displayed how much Soul Damage he dealt to the others, but Rael simply ignored them and finally approached Autumn.
Though he was also glad about one thing.
He only had a little bit left until he finally got 10%.
And based on how many rewards he had gotten upon reaching 10% in the other Laws, Rael was very hopeful for something overpowered.
Regardless of that, Rael soon arrived in front of Autumn.
She glanced up at him, and even though she tried to clearly punch him, her body fell to the ground before she could.
Rael let out a sigh.
“Well, that’s not a very pleasant sight from someone so arrogant.”
She opened and closed her mouth repeatedly.
That was until a few words came out.
“Y-You’re just l-lucky to have g-gotten that overpowered s-system…”
Well…
Yeah?
“So what? Are you jealous of me or something?”
“J-Jealous?”
She took a deep breath, then continued:
“If I was to have gotten something like that, I wouldn’t have still been bothering myself with this Realm and would have gone higher up… But alas, you are stuck in your own bubble, waiting for fate to take you to places where you wish to go.”
With those words, she suddenly bit down on her tongue.
For a moment, Rael froze, thinking she was trying to kill herself.
But just then, her body began to flicker out of existence, and before he could even reach for her, she vanished out of sight.
Since she didn’t actually die, he was sure she had just used some kind of emergency escape measure.
In that case, Rael focused on the place she was just in and proceeded to turn back time slightly.
To his surprise, she wasn’t coming back, which meant that whatever ability she used managed to bypass his Law of Time.
But sadly for her, Rael had one more trick up his sleeve.
Making sure he was safe, he quickly hopped into the Prophetic Realm and glanced a few seconds into the past.
He spotted Autumn laying on the ground just as she was a moment ago.
But right as she opened her mouth and was about to bite her own tongue, Rael froze time.
Then, he approached her and crouched down.
There was one very overpowered ability Rael had access to now that his Law of Fate and God of Fate had synergized.
The ability to attack remnants of the past and deal damage to them in the present.
If Rael could go back that far, he might even be able to kill baby Solenne or Lucien and get all this over and done with.
But still, since he wasn’t in that kind of game, Rael just focused on Autumn, and with a single deep breath, he stomped down on her head, crushing her.
For a moment, the Prophetic Realm seemed to bug out as it flickered all around.
Though it also soon faded.
A faint smile appeared on Rael’s face as he stared at Autumn’s crushed head.
And once he left the Prophetic Realm, he only saw a pool of blood where she was supposed to be.
Although she was gone, one thing wasn’t.
<+0.74% Law of Infinity Mastery!>
She was finally dead.
Seriously…
What an overly convenient ability.
Rael kind of wished he could use this on Loki too, but he had a feeling that if he tried that, Loki would take the fight seriously and actually beat his ass.
So with that in mind, Rael looked over all the fallen Ancient Primordials and stored them inside his inventory, planning to later turn them into his constructs.
And after he was finally done, he stored his Violin Blade too and finally glanced at the path Gaia had shown him.
Is that really the path to you? he asked.
[It is indeed,] she replied plainly. [You’ll be able to get to the level where I am, and if I’m that close to my body, I should be able to send my consciousness directly into it and force a revival… Or that is the goal, anyway.]
So she wasn’t even sure of it herself…
That didn’t make Rael any more confident.
Anyhow…
“How are you holding up, Anna?”
She met his gaze, though her eyes were slightly cloudy.
“That music of yours is too loud… Warn me next time before you do something like that.”
“…”
Phew.
At least he didn’t accidentally hit her too.
“Okay, will do. On that note, thanks for saving me back there. I owe you one,” he said.
Anna stared at him for a moment, then nodded.
“Then I shall ask for a weapon and a set of armor that preferably suits this body that I currently inhabit.”
“…Pardon?”
[Ah. I taught her about equal exchange too. Basically, since she saved your life, she’s now going to ask you for some good stuff, so don’t you dare hold back,] Gaia said with a chuckle.
Only then did Rael realize that maybe he should’ve been the one to take up the role of teaching Anna common sense.
Since clearly, Gaia was in need of some more direct teaching herself.
Regardless of that, a sword and armor weren’t too difficult to obtain, so he just nodded in resignation.
A faint smile appeared on Anna’s face, and so, almost like she could see the path forward, she began walking ahead.
Except she was walking the opposite way.
What a klutz.
