Chapter 956 956: Enlightening Talk? [ 2 ]
"Hmm...?" Rael tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
Renoir rolled his eyes. "I might not know you that well, but I'm not really blind, as you can see. I'm old enough to see how you operate and what you do, especially since we did speak quite a lot about our plans back before we entered the High Tower."
Still, Rael didn't seem to catch on.
"So?"
So, Renoir tightened his robe and straightened his back. Then, after clearing his throat, he said:
"Most of the Premium Perks you have are those basically engraved into your soul, right? I remember when I first found you and gave you some gifts, you had Premium Evolution, Premium Shop, and Premium Leveling, right?"
Rael nodded. "Yeah? That seems right."
"Yeah, but where do you think such things originated from? There had to have been someone who you copied. You know what... A better example would be the Akashic Records. They store information and memories. Your Premium Facade buys memories and information. Doesn't it? Don't you think there has to be a connection?"
Before Rael could reply, Renoir gave one more piece of advice:
"I'm old, I'm wise, but I'm not omnipotent. Or was it omniscient? Well, whichever means I got infinite knowledge. I don't got it. Still, I figure that without the Akashic Records, you'd lose a lot of your power. Without the system or whatever, you'd probably lose your Leveling and Evolution, and Premium Shop most likely."
In short, everything Rael had at the moment was passed down to him. Every single Premium Perk that existed was contributed by one of the beings that existed before him. But there were tens... hundreds of Premium Perks. Did that mean that these beings existed way before the creation of the universe?
Premium Parry, Premium Regeneration... Stuff like that. Was all of it really just one big inheritance? It made sense... It really did. The Akashic Records stored memories. He could buy memories. But that didn't really make sense... He could only buy the memories of the dead.
Unless the prerequisite to getting full power was to get his Perks to the Ultimate rarity? Now that he thought about it, a lot of stuff started making sense. For one, what if all of these limitations were what was keeping him from losing control like the person before him? The person who created the system, and the same person that Ren had told him about.
What if this was like the last thing that they needed to stabilize beings like us? It would make sense why the rest didn't live on forever, since most of them had infinite power.
Rael, in that sense, was the only being who went from the very bottom to the top. Rather than being at the top, he was just slightly more powerful than others. He had much more potential and power that he could tap into.
So him actually going to destroy the Akashic Records might be a very, very bad idea in this case. Rael understood that, and while he wasn't planning on it, he did feel like the Akashic Records must exist for a reason.
But then again... Could the reason be a little bit different than advertised? What if, instead of seeing the memories of every single person that ever lived, Rael saw the memories of every single being like him that lived before?
Sure, the memories could be overwhelming, but maybe they were something he needed? It might be a trap, it might be a bad idea, but Rael was partially curious.
And it wasn't like he didn't have a safe way of checking it out. He could just go into his Prophetic Realm and do it. That was his current plan, and with such a plan, he was sure Gaia and Nyx would support him.
"I see... It does make a lot of sense. Thanks for the perspective, Renoir. Though I still need the location of the Akashic Records."
He let out a sigh. "In that case, go back to the realm where all the Concepts are and look up. They have such a shitty defense, since the Akashic Records are connected to the universe and the Abyss. You can basically get into their realm if you just go down from the Akashic Records, or get into the Akashic Records by going up from their realm."
Rael nodded at him. Getting in contact with Ren and asking him for directions didn't sound that bad. Though, for such a weak spot to exist, just what were they thinking?
Still, with that out of the way, Rael decided to be at least a little kind. Therefore, he reached into the Premium Shop and bought a few breadsticks, as well as the usual friendly gift that friends totally give to each other, condoms.
"Stay safe, Renoir."
Renoir just rolled his eyes at Rael's insensitive behavior, but since he knew Rael was an idiot, he just let it slide, took all the gifts, and then slammed the door in his face.
As for Rael, he tip-toed out of the garden, and then, since he wanted to catch the attention of Ren, Rael went ahead and sped up to several thousand times the speed of light. In the next instant, he was expelled from the Far Lands.
But instead of being tossed back into the Depths, Rael found himself floating around in the middle of nowhere, also known as the Abyss. He didn't have much of a choice but to float aimlessly, since Rael didn't know how to control the Abyss in the slightest.
Though on the flip side, he did feel like he could channel some of his mana, so he did just that, maneuvering around and eventually clearing his throat enough to get the attention of the person he wanted to talk to.
That person being none other than Ren.
"Ren! If you hear me, come pick me up!"
Rael's voice traveled across the Abyss with the help of mana, and within just a few seconds, he got an answer.
