Chapter 957 957: The Ride Along
Chapter 957 957: The Ride Along
"What are you even doing here?" Ren asked, reappearing behind Rael.
Rael turned around and smirked. "Oh, it's nothing. I was just wandering around, and I got lost."
Ren narrowed his eyes. "I can understand that, but how exactly did you enter the Abyss so easily? Is there some kind of loophole I'm missing?"
Ah.
Well, Rael could be honest and just tell him what he wanted to hear, but he was sure that in doing so, he might accidentally get the Void Realm deleted.
So instead of that, Rael went with the slightly calmer approach. He smiled and said:
"Well, I tried to teleport here, and it kind of worked. I was moving a little fast though, so I might've landed in the wrong place."
Rael spoke those words pretty fast, and while it might've triggered a lie initially, Rael saying that he was moving fast was enough to offset the lie, making it seem like the truth.
It was an odd little trick Rael found when trying to trick Gaia when she wasn't paying attention. Though, it was pretty damn useful since it even worked with beings this powerful.
On that note, Rael just stared at this guy for a moment with the widest smile he could muster, waiting for him to just ignore the obvious red flags and take him along.
And thankfully, despite Ren's age, he did seem to have a sweet spot for those whom he considered his comrades.
Therefore, he went ahead and nodded at Rael, believing his obvious lie.
"I see... In that case, do you want me to bring you back?"
Rael shook his head. "Nope. I actually wanted to go to the Akashic Records. Do you mind creating a portal there?"
"Hm? Didn't you listen to what I had said earlier? I'm sure you could've come to the conclusion that the one who made the system might've entered that place and gotten messed up in the head. Do you believe that by going there, you might actually find answers?" Ren asked.
Rael shrugged. "We'll see. If shit goes south, just come in there and pull me out, yeah? You're the Concept of Reality for a reason, aren't you, Ren?"
Being someone who could gaslight people wasn't exactly Rael's forte. He preferred going the fists route instead. Though, if his women were gaslighting him, he took it like a good boy.
Not straying too much off topic, Rael waited for his answer once more. Except it came in the form of a portal leading directly to some kind of realm that had a small black hole in the very center. It didn't expand, nor did it move even a little, and it also gave Rael a bit of a bad vibe when he looked at it.
But bad vibe or not, Rael knew that he couldn't exactly just back out now since he was in too deep. Yet right as he was about to step through the portal, Ren gave him one last warning:
"If you die in there, I will make sure someone goes in there, grabs your soul, and then revives you. However, don't count on it. The Akashic Records are very unpredictable."
Rael sighed. "How are you even supposed to go in there and find me? Isn't every single thing individual?"
Ren smiled. "I am the Concept of Reality. Reality is whatever I want it to be. Now good luck. May you find the answers you're looking for."
With that, he pushed the portal through Rael's body, causing him to reappear on the other side. In the next instant, he felt the powerful pull of the black hole, which, even by his standards, seemed a little too powerful.
Instead of paying any attention to the black hole though, the first thing Rael did was look around. And as expected, this wasn't just some empty cosmos. There were planets in the distance, and more importantly, some light, which meant the gravity might not have affected that area yet.
So without hesitation, Rael went ahead and channeled his mana, teleporting to where he was looking. Thankfully, it worked like a charm, as he teleported out of that powerful gravitational pull.
Yet when he glanced back, he was surprised to see that what appeared to be a black hole a moment ago was actually just some kind of fountain.
Rael raised his brow at this weird illusion he couldn't see through. Perhaps that was the point. Someone would fly toward the fountain, only to be pulled into a black hole instead.
But by the looks of things, that black hole might just be the entrance to the Akashic Records.
Though, if it's really the entrance, and this is really the beginning of the universe, shouldn't this place have many more stars and planets and stuff? Is it just a name for the sake of it? Rael wondered.
Sure, there were lots of planets, but it was nearly the same as what he saw from Celestara. It was nothing special.
Oh well.
Rael went ahead and took a deep breath. In the next instant, he restored the connection with Gaia and Nyx. And as expected, he was immediately bombarded with a bunch of comments, some of which he ignored, and a few which he was deeply moved by.
[You damn naive idiot, what are you doing?] Nyx yelled. [We're coming there right now. Don't you move a muscle.]
[I have underestimated how far you'd go... Don't enter the Akashic Records under any circumstance. We're only a few seconds away from you,] Gaia said.
Rael let out a chuckle and gave them a mental thumbs up. He did want to do this solo, but with the knowledge he had gained, having backup was ideal.
After all, why ignore backup when the backup was in the form of some of the strongest people in the universe?
Welp.
Whatever the case may be, Rael waited patiently, and once he saw the outline of Nyx and Gaia, he exhaled a breath of relief.
