Chapter 975: That Being
Chapter 975: That Being
"I’m here to—"
"Please sit down," one of the people present said. "I take it you’re exhausted, so at the very least, let us treat you to some dinner. Also... We have a rough idea of what you want from us, so before any more misunderstandings arise, we’d like to tell you we don’t know how to make these weapons."
Gaia nodded. "But you know who can, so that’s enough. As for food, no thank you. We’ve already eaten."
There was one man in particular, the one with the longest beard, who seemed to have experience dealing with people like Rael and Gaia, so he took charge.
"In that case, I apologize for trying to murder you. The weapons are top secret, as even just telling you might endanger our entire race."
Right as Gaia or Rael were about to reply, they fell silent, noticing a very powerful presence suddenly appear in the room. And once they turned to that presence, they saw a pale man with long crimson hair and deep blue eyes staring back at them.
"Howdy there. Don’t mind me. I’m just listening in, since it seems like an interesting topic," he said.
Rael and Gaia found it a little amusing, but on the other hand, all the humans present froze in disbelief. This was one of the Eldritch beings, and he had just appeared out of thin air, much like how their ancestors had described.
But now what...? Their weapons were disabled, and their main cannon was gone too. They had no choice but to surrender, but not before giving their all.
Each one of them opened fire with whatever weapons they had. Yet all it took was a brief fraction of a second for the man to tear the heads off every single human present, killing all four of the Grade 8s in an instant.
Rael, who saw this from the side, was even more amused now. This guy was just like him, except he was able to draw out some of the powers that Rael got only while in that form. It was odd, but even then, Rael knew this guy had something going on with his head.
And not in a good way either.
"You two seem a little more resistant. Did the humans come up with some kind of new race?" he asked, curiously standing up as he inspected Rael and Gaia.
Rael, on the other hand, wasn’t as amused.
"You’re loud. Also, what’s the point in all of this? If you can wipe them all out, why are you torturing them?"
Obviously, he might just be sadistic or something, but Rael really doubted that.
"Torturing them? They should be happy I’m keeping them alive. After everything they did to me... All those experiments, all that torture... They should be happy I hadn’t erased their entire race yet."
Rael let out a sigh. "I feel you, but this is a little fucked up to do, don’t you think? What happens after they all die?"
"They won’t die, because I’m keeping them alive. I’m allowing them to get more advanced, since I can’t wait to reap the satisfaction of killing them when they’ve thrown everything they’ve got at me, only to fail miserably," he replied with a faint smile.
In short, this guy was a lunatic. Rael and Gaia both recognized that, and of course, while they didn’t want to meddle too much, there was also one very teeny tiny detail Rael couldn’t help but figure out.
If this guy figures out what that realm was, where one could go from one multiverse to another, won’t he just eventually find Rael’s universe and cause havoc there? Not to mention, if there was more than one person like this guy, then Rael most definitely needed to get rid of all of them.
But how does one fight a being like this? Welp, obviously by turning their brain to mush.
So before that being could even process what was happening, Rael’s body went limp. Sadly, no matter how long had passed, he was still pretty shit at controlling his actual body while he was in a state of controlling someone else’s mind.
Even though he had a few skills that could fix that...
Welp.
Rael was a klutz, but since Gaia was right there to help him out, he didn’t hesitate to do what had to be done. And so, when he invaded the mind of this being, the first thing he was met with was an endless ocean.
For a moment, Rael thought that this being hadn’t focused on his mind in the slightest, but when he glanced down at the ocean and spotted a morphed reflection of his own self, Rael knew for a fact that this guy definitely had some decent defenses.
But then again, Rael was also someone who had put quite a bit of time into his mind, and that says something considering he’s usually so lazy.
So whatever this was, it didn’t affect him. Though, when Rael finally stopped looking at his reflection, he spotted the same being staring at him from a bit further away, a confused look on his face as he abruptly reappeared in front of Rael.
"Who are you?" the being asked.
Rael shrugged. "Doesn’t matter. I’ll be staying in your mind for a little bit, so don’t mind me."
With that, Rael imagined some shackles appearing around the being in front of him, only to be countered with a simple wave of the hand, canceling his imaginative chains, and instead forming a slight blister on Rael’s hand that seemed to want to start pestering him.
And yet, the being was still startled. Throughout all of his years of playing around with humans, he had never had one actually get inside his mind before. He was glad that he had set up some defenses just in case.
But...
This was humiliating.
How could a greater being like him have such a pest inside his mind?
This wouldn’t do.
This wouldn’t do at all.
