Chapter 990: I’ll Raise Her for a Lifetime

Chapter 990: Chapter 990: I’ll Raise Her for a Lifetime

"Hmm." Tang Yue, understanding Si Yu’s words without needing further explanation, changed the subject: "What should we do with this person? I just knocked out another one. With skills this bad, how dare they try tomb raiding? Aren’t they afraid of dying in here?"

"Ahem."

Si Yu cleared his throat and asked, "Did you bring rope? Tie him up."

"I did." As Tang Yue spoke, she moved forward to tie the person, but Si Yu stopped her, took the rope, and limped over to tie the person himself.

Tang Yue went up to support Si Yu, who explained, "Don’t worry, it’s just a little injury on my leg. It’ll be fine after resting for a few days when we get back."

"Really?" Tang Yue skeptically looked at Si Yu’s leg and shone a flashlight on it. His camouflage uniform was stained with mud and blood, torn in several places, making it hard to see if his wound had healed or not.

"Of course it’s true. Otherwise, how could I be tying someone up so easily right now?" Si Yu smiled and swiftly tied the person up. The person who had just been fighting with Tang Yue now seemed like a tame little cat or dog in front of Si Yu, allowing him to do as he pleased.

Si Yu finished tying the person up, tossed him casually into a corner, and gagged his mouth, so even if he woke up, he wouldn’t be able to call out.

"Alright, should we find another place to rest for a while?" Tang Yue couldn’t tell if Si Yu’s injury was serious or not, so she suggested finding a place to rest.

"Right here."

Si Yu opened her backpack and saw water and cake inside.

"You go ahead and eat. Zhao Xiangqian and the others will find this place soon. We’ll be able to leave shortly." Tang Yue unwrapped the cake and handed it over.

Si Yu split it in half and said to Tang Yue, "You eat, I’ll have some too."

"I’m not hungry." Tang Yue pushed it away.

Her stomach growled, and Tang Yue blushed, muttering to herself how unreliable her stomach was!

"I didn’t eat dinner, but you haven’t eaten for two days, right?" Tang Yue stubbornly refused, yet Si Yu directly pushed the cake into her mouth while he took a big bite from the remaining half.

The cake was quickly finished. Tang Yue had brought six cakes in her backpack; she ate two, and Si Yu polished off the rest, including half the clean water. Leaning against the wall, he watched her carefully cleaning his wound, chuckling, "Honey, your man isn’t that afraid of pain."

"You say that, but your wound is so deep." Tang Yue was crying while tending to his wound. If she hadn’t insisted, she wouldn’t have realized how deep Si Yu’s wound was, bloody and revealing white bone.

"Si Yu, I’m telling you, you haven’t kept any of your promises to me."

"..."

"You clearly got such a bad injury, but you didn’t say a word and even showed off by tying someone up. Do you really think you’re made of iron?"

"..."

"Even if you don’t care about your own body, there’s still me and the two kids." Tang Yue was getting angrier and more teary as she spoke.

Si Yu didn’t dare to argue, letting Tang Yue vent her anger.

Suddenly, Si Yu turned off the flashlight, pulled her close, and silenced her chattering with a kiss.

"Mmm." Tang Yue struggled, but Si Yu held her waist tightly. She didn’t dare move recklessly, afraid of touching his wound, and she bit him, thinking how he could still think about this at such a time!

"Someone’s here."

Si Yu’s deep voice sounded, making Tang Yue instantly freeze and stop moving. In the darkness, the two seemed to share a tacit understanding and coordinated perfectly. Tang Yue still held onto the electric shock baton, and as she shocked the person, Si Yu immediately subdued him.

Tang Yue took the rope and, following Si Yu’s example, tied up the person. Together, they tied up four people in one go. Si Yu said, "Don’t worry now. There were six of them. You knocked one out earlier, and here are four. There’s only one left, and Zhao Xiangqian and the others should be here soon."

Si Yu sat down, complimenting, "Honey, your skills have improved."

"Of course."

Tang Yue looked proud. Before, she couldn’t even handle two little thugs, but now it was different; she could even deal with ordinary practitioners.

"I wonder when they’ll arrive." Tang Yue leaned into Si Yu’s embrace. His wounds had been cleaned, and the food in the backpack was all eaten. The piercing cold wind blew through the tunnel, and her wet clothes clung to her uncomfortably.

"Soon."

Si Yu held her tightly. If it weren’t for Tang Yue’s firm refusal, he would have draped his clothes over her. Now, he could only hold her close to make her feel warmer, whispering, "Why don’t you take a nap? When you wake up, we’ll be rescued."

"Not sleeping." Tang Yue shook her head. Though hungry and tired, she couldn’t sleep. Si Yu was injured and couldn’t move; if a fever or something set in during the night, she needed to be awake to take care of him.

"Chenchen drew a family portrait, it’s beautiful. He’s been waiting for you to come home to see it."

"Our daughter is amazing," Si Yu praised in a raspy voice.

"Yes, your daughter is the best, always ready for a fight."

Tang Yue recounted the story of Chenchen getting into a fight over some cookies, making Si Yu chuckle, "That way, no one will dare bully her."

Si Yu’s words carried a hint of pride.

He valued his daughter more than anything else. He spoiled her, but it didn’t mean he wanted her to grow up ignorant of the world but to have self-preservation skills.

"You just spoil Chenchen. Be careful she’ll be so fierce that nobody will dare to marry her." Tang Yue teased, albeit she had discussed her concerns about Chenchen being trained like Zaozao many times, but Si Yu never gave her any room to argue on this point.

When Si Yu wanted to convince someone, he could be so eloquent that Tang Yue couldn’t argue back.

Especially after her past experiences, Tang Yue agreed with Si Yu. Even girls from affluent families, who could be protected, should be taught how to survive in the world and protect what they’re given.

Wealth can be a double-edged sword, offering everything good but also potential troubles.

She didn’t want to raise her daughter to be clueless, easily deceived. Better to be a bit fierce; it’s at least a layer of protection. Her daughter is smart enough that anyone trying to deceive her should be careful not to be deceived themselves.

"If no one marries her, we’ll take care of her for life." Si Yu couldn’t bear the thought of some brat coming to take his precious little girl away. He’d rather hide her forever.
