Chapter 453: Alverto: Origins. Part-7.
In the original novel, Lia’s mother dies of other causes.
It wasn’t properly explained why she died; perhaps she died from a failed dungeon raid or some other reason, but she definitely didn’t die from a curse.
Rio has been confused about this situation ever since he heard about it from Lia.
Now he finally knows why this happened.
’Something changed the course of history; something caused that higher entity to notice Alverto and then in turn Alverto used curses to spread a wide net for the one favoured by heavens...’
The curse was extremely hidden and was cast with the power of an entity that even peak SS rankers can’t contend with; thus, no one could even notice it or deal with it.
Usually, the curse would stay inactive as long as the curse bearer doesn’t come in contact with the one favored by heavens.
But a curse is still a curse after all; moreover, this one has the power of an extremely powerful entity.
This thing is extremely potent; it’s like putting snake venom in your blood vessels and freezing it in one place, hoping that it will not spread.
No matter how you try to contain it, it will still slowly spread and cause tremendous harm.
Even if the curse never activates, its power will still slowly leak out and will damage the soul and body of the bearer gradually over time.
This is likely what happened to Lia’s mother.
Moreover, this curse is in fact so potent that Lia even inherited a brand-new version of it from her mother.
Alverto only cursed her mother, but Lia got that curse from birth due to her mother.
Due to her inheriting this curse from her mother, it got tremendously weaker and thus didn’t affect Lia that much; otherwise, she would have already died by the age of 10 from its severe effects.
The longer the curse stayed in her body, the more depressed, maniacal, and violent she would have become.
All the dark emotions deep in her heart would have been magnified tremendously, and she might even have resorted to self-harm.
This is also one of the reasons why Lia had such a bad reputation during the first few days of academy life; she was always in an irritable mood and was like a maniac who would fight anyone for random reasons.
Rio’s presence for some reason suppressed that curse tremendously and saved Lia from walking the same path as in the original novel.
Lia in the original novel was a horrible person.
She had a very sadistic and violent personality. First of all, her face was already ruined, and then she got teleported to the demon continent.
Living on the demon continent, she had to stay in a dense, miasma-filled environment; moreover, she was already filled with negative emotions and darkness in her heart.
Thus, she got corrupted by miasma easily, which caused her to undergo demonification and turn into a proper, full-fledged demon.
Later in the story she returns as an S-rank demon with a horribly mutated body oozing with miasma and corruption.
The first thing she does after returning to the human empire is kill her own father and mercilessly slaughter every single person in the Silver Mansion present at the time.
Her personal maid, Mel, was also killed in this massacre.
By that point her soul was already thoroughly corrupted, and there was no saving her anymore.
She would then go on to slaughter humans and other races alike.
Her favorite way of torturing was to cut off all limbs and make the helpless person crawl like a worm in despair and intolerable pain.
She was extremely sadistic and liked to play with her prey until the end; she thrived on the despair of others.
In the end she dies at the hands of that powerful entity.
That entity uses ’Atomic Disintegration’ on her, completely destroying every atom of her body and erasing her from existence in an instant.
Her existence literally got erased from the world.
From the start to the end, her story was just an unfortunate soul descending into the abyss faster and faster with no chance of ever receiving any salvation.
Even though things developed a bit differently from the original with Alverto’s interference, that didn’t change Lia’s fate much.
She would have, in fact, become corrupted even faster this time with a curse corrupting her soul from inside out.
’But truthfully speaking, I don’t really have any skill or special power that can stop the side-effects of other people’s curse...’
’Then how come I ended up suppressing her curse?...’
Rio was also confused by this phenomenon and had no idea why this happened because he himself doesn’t know about any such powers within him.
’Can falling in love with someone really negate the effects of such a powerful curse this much?’
It is indeed true that the ’laws’ of ’love, protection, and care’ are indeed one of the strongest laws of the ’world’ and are extremely effective against things like miasmic corruption.
But even that has a limit after all; it shouldn’t have worked this effectively against the curse created from the energy of such a powerful being.
’I still have some kind of hidden power then?’
Rio has suspected this matter from the very beginning. From the very first day he came into this body, he already felt that his emotions were heavily suppressed.
He didn’t feel even the least bit of panic or fear after suddenly transmigrating into an unfamiliar body.
He just felt ’empty.’
Moreover, this ’hidden power’ of his is making him more and more emotionless the more his ’sword intent’ improves or the stronger he gets in any other aspect.
This has been a major source of headache for Rio for a while. This is the first time that Rio has noticed an actual benefit of this hidden power.
This is the first time he has noticed that this hidden power was the one that helped suppress Lia’s curse.
’Once I meet Lia again, I must carefully examine her myself to figure out if she’s still under the influence of that curse...’
’Ahem... No, I am not trying to find an excuse to touch her... cough...’
While Rio was busy thinking about various things from past and present, time in the memory fragment moved fast.
Alverto carried out his plan fluently; he spread a massive net all over the planet to catch the fish that might appear any time.
He made strategies and figured out that if the heaven’s favored one appears, he will likely appear in important cities and places all around the world eventually.
His fame will definitely grab massive attention from all corners of the world; that’s why Alverto targeted people who were related to or involved with important people.
This is also the reason why Alverto planted a curse in Kira when she was just a ten-year-old kid.
The most amazing fact was that Alverto seemed to have an endless supply of long-range teleportation scrolls that always concealed his tracks.
He could always directly teleport to his target and plant the curse before leaving swiftly.
Those teleportation scrolls were so high-rank that they didn’t even leak a single spatial fluctuation, making them undetectable even to SS-rankers.
Unless an SS-ranker is in extreme close proximity of the location of teleportation, even they won’t sense it.
Alverto seemed to be able to use the power of the powerful entity to create scrolls of this level with extreme precision.
This scroll creation method not only enhanced his movement ability, but it also increased secrecy for his own organization and helped him avoid getting caught in troublesome situations.
He could always easily avoid getting in a direct confrontation with powerful people and accomplish his goals without anyone even noticing it.
With this method he spread his net and maintained the number of curse bearers at around ten thousand at all times.
’It seems his limit is ten thousand at one time...’
’After all, borrowing the power of a powerful entity is harmful to your own body and soul; he likely can’t bear the burden of maintaining more than ten thousand curses at the same time...’
’This method of spreading net is very inefficient if considered from normal perspective... if you try to find any other person with this method, it will be impossible...’
A complicated look appeared on Rio’s face as he thought,
’But this method is indeed very effective against a heavenly chosen individual... after all, the one chosen by the heavens themselves will never stay low-key...’
’They are always high-profile and do all kind of unbelievable things that constantly make them enter the spot-light...’
’If you curse people related to important figures of a nation, you will indeed have greater chance of finding the heaven’s child...’
Alverto used this method to lay out a trap so far and wide that Fade never had a chance to dodge it at all.
The moment Fade became the child of heavens and awakened his system, Kira immediately activated her curse.
This is the reason why she all of a sudden started fawning over him; that curse started affecting her mind and soul.
Before the activation of the curse, she didn’t even care about Fade, who was getting beaten by bullies all day long, but the moment it activated, she immediately went over to stand up for him.
It was a complete 180-degree change in mindset.
The curse gradually turned her into a puppet for Alverto. He ordered her to pretend to be in love with Fade to lower his guard; she was the one who leaked the coordinates of the Lava-lake dungeon to Alverto.
Alverto used those coordinates to teleport over to the human world and sent his clone to do his bidding.
This is the main reason why Kira abandoned Liam behind and went over to please Fade without a single thought.
