Chapter 458: The Unrest and The Doubts... Part-2.

"You were directly teleported inside of it?... You mean you were going about your day normally and then you got randomly teleported all of a sudden..."

"That’s weird..."

Ryul stared at the distant mysterious tower with a look of doubt and confusion on his face.

"It’s as if you lot were targeted on purpose... only you were teleported with extreme precision; that’s way too suspicious..."

Ryul glanced at Lia and asked in a calm tone,

"Does anything come to mind? Something that might be similar in you all, which might be the reason for it to teleport you?"

"I tried to enter it with force but it was as if it didn’t even budge... Its stability is almost on par with a powerful SS-rank dungeon gate... No, it might be even strong in fact..."

Ryul shook his head and glanced at Ashtel before asking in an unusually quiet tone,

"Do you know what happened to him?... I don’t think there’s anything in this world that can injure him to this level..."

"The last time he even suffered some slight injuries was when he tanked the heavenly punishment to save his son’s life..."

At those words, Lia could only shake her head.

"I don’t know either... by the time we found him, he was already in that state..."

Ryul appeared calm on the outside, but inside, even he was a bit cautious now.

Even SS-rankers have feelings like normal humans; it’s inevitable that many of them were frightened after seeing the ’World’s Strongest’ in such a sorry state.

’If something goes wrong... if there’s really something that even Ashtel couldn’t handle... I will take Syvis and escape from this solar system...’

Ryul was already considering the worst-case scenario in his head.

Ashtel fought Neo and those fake SS-rankers all alone, due to which no one knows what happened to him and why he’s in such an injured state.

Jin was also in bad shape, but he wasn’t as famous as Ashtel, so others weren’t paying that much attention to him.

"By the way, are you sure only you guys got teleported inside that strange tower... maybe there are others-"

Before Ryul could finish his questions, a cold and irritated voice entered his ears.

"I have already confirmed it... aside from these five, Neo Aldif, Liam and his pet dragon... these three have also gone missing..."

"I am quite sure that the three of them are also inside that strange tower..."

At some point another SS-ranker seemed to have teleported over to Lia and others’ side; she had pure white hair, and her aura was emitting cold and indifferent vibes all over.

It was none other than Raji Croft.

Lia finally heaved a sigh of relief after seeing an SS-ranker from their own race appear at last.

Although there were already several dozen SS-rankers in the vicinity, they were all from other nations and might not help them depending on circumstances.

Raji is different; she’s an SS-ranker from the human empire and will likely do her best to protect them.

"Aside from those three... Two students, Fade and Kira had also gone missing not too long ago... my intuition tells me that they are also here..."

While saying those words in her usual cold and indifferent tone, Raji glanced at Riya, who was sleeping in Link’s arms, and only averted her eyes after confirming that she was uninjured.

Then she glanced at Ashtel and Jin, and her pupils trembled a bit from shock.

She knew that she must keep her calm in front of so many SS-rankers to not show any sign of weakness, but even then, her eyes showed how shocked she was.

"This scene is like a nightmare... I never expected that even someone as strong as him might end up like that...."

Ashtel is a pillar of support and protection for the entire human empire; if something happens to him, even his fellow SS-rankers will feel the burden on them increase tremendously.

Raji was not prepared for this sudden situation, but she had no other choice but to do her best.

Right now, out of all four SS-rankers of the human empire, she’s the only one who can keep things stable, as both Ashtel and Jin are injured and Neo’s whereabouts are unknown.

Raji walked over to Link’s side and spoke in a calm voice.

"I was working with other SS-rankers to stabilize the planet so I was late... I apologize for not being able to help you in that dangerous situation..."

Hearing Raji’s words, Link nodded his head and sighed.

"I wasn’t particularly in any danger, but I didn’t expect father to... sigh..."

Link shook his head and sighed in a suppressed manner.

Raji didn’t want to bother him anymore, so she walked over to Ashtel and Jin’s side, who were being healed by Syvis.

She stood near them in silence as she stared at that distant tower with doubt on her face.

Eliminating all the demons and monsters that were trying to invade the human empire was easy for her, and that attack only served as a mere distraction for her for just a few minutes.

The main problem was dealing with the effects of the appearance of the Spire of Ascension on the planet.

This planet is home to billions of creatures, and keeping it safe and secure is the duty of all beings.

Due to the sudden descent of the Spire of Ascension, the entire planet became unstable, the mana flow became chaotic, and earthquakes, tsunamis, and many disasters appeared all at once.

Destroying a planet is easy for an SS-ranker, but keeping it stable and safe is a very difficult task.

Dozens of SS-rankers rushed over to the Spire of Ascension, while the remaining ones, including Raji, helped in stabilizing the planet to prevent it from collapsing.

That was the reason why Raji ended up being late.

She felt powerless after finding out that it’s difficult to rush inside that strange tower from outside, and she could only stand near it to keep an eye on it.

Even the world tree’s roots have been utilized to make a massive defensive barrier around the area in case something goes wrong.

"Just what is going on inside that thing..."

...

Spire of Ascension, Floor 0.

Unlike any other floors, this floor was completely different; it only consists of a big circular hall.

There was a massive altar in the middle of the hall, and a young man was lying in the middle of it.

Near him, two individuals were standing.

Rio could never mistake the faces of the three of them; he immediately figured out their identity.

The one lying unconscious was none other than Fade Crest, the protagonist and the heaven’s chosen.

Beside him were Kira Bloodlight, his main heroine, and Alverto Chronosperdere, the demon prince.

The moment Rio appeared, Alverto immediately noticed him and looked at him with a shocked look on his face as if he didn’t expect Rio to be here.

"You are still alive!?... I was hoping that for your death, but you survived!?... You are really unpredictable..."

Alverto had retreated on purpose; he knew that he didn’t have enough time to waste on Rio, and thus he left immediately.

He wanted to use his memory to kill Rio while retreating at a rapid speed.

If his control over the Spire of Ascension hadn’t been interrupted by Jin, he could have just directly teleported between the floors in an instant without even needing to go through all that trouble.

But the situation was desperate, so he had to take desperate measures against it.

"Your plan of using your memory as a protective wall was indeed brilliant..."

"This plan would have worked on literally anyone in world except for just one person and that is me..."

"Unfortunately for you, the only person in the world who is immune to your plan was the one to chase you..."

Rio had already figured out Alverto’s purpose of putting his memory fragment in Floor 2 and Floor 1.

Aside from the fact that he was using those memory fragments for controlling the Spire of Ascension, he was using them as a defense mechanism too.

His memory of coming in contact with that higher being is something that’s extremely fatal to others.

If someone else had watched Alverto interact with that powerful being, they would have been considered peeking at that greater existence and would have suffered tremendous backlash.

Rio has ’True Immunity,’ thus he wasn’t affected much, but if it was anyone else in the world, they would have been killed if they had seen that memory, even if they were a peak SS-ranker.

This is the main reason why Alverto retreated and didn’t bother trying to stop Rio from following him.

He himself could bypass watching those memories and descend faster, as they were his own.

Rio, on the other hand, had no other choice but to watch those memories, as that was the condition to descend to lower floors.

If it was anyone else chasing Alverto instead of Rio, they would have fallen for this trap and would have died a horrible death.

But unfortunately for Alverto, Rio was immune to this kind of damage, so he easily made his way down.

Seeing him alive and well brought great shock to Alverto, and he almost lost his composure in that instant.

But then a look of determination returned to his face, and he forcefully suppressed his emotions of shock and surprise.

"You really are persistent. Why are you even targeting me this much? Don’t you have anything else to do in life!?"

Hearing those words, Rio rolled his eyes at Alverto and replied in his usual emotionless tone,

"Bruh... you are reason why I even got teleported to this place; if not for that, I would have been chilling at home doing nothing..."

"Don’t blame me for your failures... besides, I also have some score to settle with you..."
