Chapter 465: A New Era Begins.

All SS-rankers, including Raji, had a look of shock and doubt on their faces.

Lia kept struggling in Raji’s arms but couldn’t move; she fell down on her knees and started crying in despair as if she had lost all hope in her life.

Raji herself is cold by nature and doesn’t know how to console someone, so she couldn’t even provide any words of comfort; she could only bite her lips and stay silent.

Just when the situation was getting more and more depressing, the mana and miasma around the central area of the lava-covered crater moved.

As if a giant bubble were forming, a massive amount of lava rose in the air like a bubble before bursting with tremendous force.

A single person flew up into the sky, tearing right through tons of miasmic lava and liquid corruption.

It was none other than Rio.

The miasma and corruption in the surroundings did not affect him at all; he was fine even when standing right in the center of a massive amount of highly concentrated miasma.

Rio didn’t even have the strength to keep floating in air, so he didn’t have the time to properly figure out what that memory was.

His already weakened sword intent sensed Lia’s presence in the distance, and he didn’t even care about his appearance as he flew towards her with full strength.

His tattered clothes swayed in the air, but he didn’t care.

At that point, his sword intent was also at its limit; he couldn’t even see properly, as even his eyesight got damaged from that powerful explosion.

He had to rely on his instincts and sword intent to barely sense the surroundings and make his way forward.

Rio crossed the entire crater filled with miasma, which even SS-rankers were hesitating to come close to, and arrived near Lia and the others in a few seconds.

The moment he reached that place, he lost consciousness and started falling towards the ground.

Lia immediately sensed his presence from far away and stopped crying; she instantly broke away from Raji’s arms.

Raji didn’t stop her anymore, as she was also taken aback by the fact that Rio managed to survive such a powerful explosion despite being only an S-ranker.

Ignoring others’ shock, Lia dashed to Rio side and caught him in mid-air, preventing him from falling.

Syvis also reacted at that moment and immediately rushed over to heal Rio.

Lia embraced Rio in her arms as she cried out in relief.

"Thank god! You are alive! N-no I knew you would be alive! H-how can you die so suddenly! I was an idiot to even be worried!"

"Thanks for being alive!... Don’t scare me like that... i-I can’t live without you... you idiot!"

Despite her being happy and relieved, tears didn’t stop as she hugged Rio’s half-burnt body tightly as Syvis poured immense amounts of healing magic into his body to heal Rio.

As Rio’s sword intent was now in an extremely weakened state and Lia was hugging him tightly, his resistance weakened; thus, the healing magic from Syvis became extremely effective.

Raji, Ryul, and even Link came over at that moment, and everyone had a look of relief on their faces.

They were all happy and relieved that Rio survived somehow; it would have been a tragedy if he didn’t.

Somewhere in a hidden castle.

A beautiful woman was standing on a wide balcony, looking at the stars occasionally visible in the dark sky of the demon continent.

Her pink hair swayed with the gentle cold breeze, and her fox ears were constantly moving to show her anxious emotions.

"Why... why did you have to go to such lengths... I would have been fine just as I was... I just wanted you to achieve greatness, not such a tragic outcome..."

Aurora knew what Alverto had done; even though he died and likely failed in his mission of creating a ’new path,’ he still managed to do one final thing.

He had already told Aurora that if all went south, he would reset his wishes, and in his last moments, he would use whatever power he had from the Spire of Ascension to create a ’future’ for at least ’her’ alone.

Alverto wanted a better ’future’ for his entire race, but if he can’t create such a thing, he promised to at least do it for the woman he loved so dearly.

Before the spire of ascension exploded, he managed to trick Rio and trigger the altar, even if for a few seconds.

Even in death, Alverto managed to give ’Freedom’ to the one he cared for; he was without a doubt a great ’Hero.’

Others may despise him, they might hate him, and they might want to kill him, but no one can laugh at his noble ’Path.’

Alverto lived as a ’hero’ and died as a ’hero’; his shattered soul didn’t fall in the sea of miasma like other demons, it received the ’acknowledgement’ of the ’world’ and got a new ’chance.’

All of them had to go back and deal with the damage that had happened in their hometown, so they could not stay here for too long and waste time.
