Chapter 579: One more Final Gamble, Both or None! Part-4.

Rio shrugged his shoulders at those words.

"Well, that’s the main reason why I came alone; none of our group’s members were capable of withstanding this much miasma..."

"The entire spirit realm is filled with miasma to the brim, and right outside your cage, it’s so dense that even SS-rankers will find it hard to stay there for too long..."

Hearing Rio’s words, Ellie giggled lightly as she said,

"Liam is really a lucky idiot, isn’t he?... He’s got a friend like you who crossed an entire layer of hell just to drag him out from the mouth of the abyss itself!"

"I doubt anyone else can do this much just for the sake of friendship..."

Rio rolled his eyes at her words and replied,

"I promised everyone back home to bring that fool back alive; obviously I was not going to retreat halfway after making such promises..."

"Moreover... miasma is just another little more unstable battery and energy source for me; it wasn’t really that difficult for me to make it here..."

The spirit realm was like a paradise to Rio; it was almost as if it was tailor-made for him, and he didn’t mind staying here for a long time either.

In others’ opinion, Rio’s three-month journey through the spirit realm might seem worthy enough to give him the title ’Hell-Walker,’ but to him, it was a breeze.

"Hehe... you don’t need to be so smug... I know you are strong..."

Ellie smiled, but her smile was worse than crying; the closer they got to that giant door, the sadder and more awkward the atmosphere became between them.

Both of them unconsciously knew that they both were hiding a lot of troubles and problems inside their minds.

Ellie was worried about Liam, and Rio was worried about them both.

Rio could instinctively tell that Ellie seemed very distant in that moment; she seemed like she would disappear if he didn’t keep a close eye on her.

She was fragile and in a constant state of miasmic decay and physical purification.

Even while being a peak S ranker, her real body was so weak that she might not even be able to withstand a single punch from even Riya!

Silence fell as the atmosphere became even more sad, and it took Rio a lot of courage to ask the next question to Ellie.

"Will Liam be able to live normally again?"

Rio’s voice was unusually quiet and suppressed when asking that question; it was such a question that could break a person’s heart into pieces.

Liam’s body was completely shattered, and all the efforts he put in enhancing himself and improving were completely destroyed.

There was no way of recovering them ever again.

That question was something that Rio didn’t want to ask, as it was too cruel and heartbreaking and would remind Ellie of how bad her and Liam’s situation was.

But he had no other choice; he had to ask it so that he could understand the severity of the situation.

"He... will not be able to live the same way again..."

Saying those words out loud took all of Ellie’s strength; just acknowledging that reality was a very difficult thing.

Even if they somehow managed to save Liam, he would have to start over from scratch once again.

"I only managed to save his soul... I have no other method to save him... and I am confined inside this place; I have no real ability to find ways to secure a suitable body for him either..."

"I am powerless and pathetic... And it would be challenge in itself to bring his soul out of the spirit realm..."

"Once a soul falls in the spirit realm, it would be coveted by miasma and will never be allowed to live freely ever again..."

"Even if Liam somehow managed to survive, miasma will target him his entire life... He will be incapable of living a normal life ever again..."

Every word that Ellie said made a piece of her heart shatter; Liam’s situation was so bad that she could not see much hope for him in the future.

Just like her own hopeless self, who was confined in this cage for eternity, Liam was now a prey that had been marked by miasma and would be targeted by it for eternity.

"Sigh... the situation is more severe than I was expecting it to be..."

Even Rio had no such ability to create real human bodies and enhance them to become strong enough to host an A-ranker’s soul.

That kind of ability was very rare, and Rio had not seen anyone except Alverto do something like that.

Back then, Alverto used a very humanoid-like puppet to invade the dungeon and fight Rio, which led to Jin becoming an SS ranker.

In that scenario, Alverto had placed a part of his soul and his consciousness inside that humanoid puppet; it was a clone that mimicked his real body.

Only Alverto had that kind of ability, as he had the legendary skill ’Soul Resonance.’

’Also, I still have no idea how Alverto even created that real-looking clone to place his soul and consciousness inside...’

’If only I had the chance to learn that skill from his memories back then...’

Rio sighed and said,

"I actually visited your father and those shadow dragons that were merged into one before coming here... they gifted me with a shadow dragon scale blessed with their power..."

"I heard it’s useful in containing souls... would we be able to use it to make a temporary container for Liam..."

"I have no such ability to create an artificial body on the spot... but I will need to bring Liam back to the human world if I want to find some way to save him..."

Ellie went silent for a while before saying,

"I will make a proper container for Liam’s soul from that scale... it’s fortunate that you brought the shadow dragon scale..."

"It would have been difficult for me to provide a scale myself..."

It took her a lot of courage, but she still decided to ask.

"H-how’s my father now? Is he still alive... I mean..."

Hearing her question, Rio decided to tell her the truth.

"All the shadow dragon’s have been merged into one body, making them into a bizarre, disfigured, treelike creature..."

"He had been waiting for King Allen to come back till his final breath... after I managed to communicate with him, he lost his final bit of sanity, which he was keeping to communicate with King Allen..."

Rio looked into Ellie’s eyes and said,

"Even though his final wish of being saved by King Allen was not fulfilled, he was happy to hear the news that you were alive and had a summoner who had established an equal contract with you..."

"He took his final breath while laughing and he was happy to hear about you even in his last moments..."

Rio took a deep breath before continuing.

"After losing his final bits of sanity and mind... he went completely out of control and perhaps he’s still rampaging out there..."

"Miasma has not been kind to him... he’s certainly suffered a lot for the mistake he made..."
