Chapter 580: One more Final Gamble, Both or None! Part-5.
"Sigh... at least he didn’t have to die hopeless... he was a great leader for the Shadow Dragon Race, but as a father he was very lacking..."
"I guess... miasma took away most of his sanity long ago so I don’t blame him... but I would have preferred if he had stopped the others from blaming me for not being able to fulfil their expectations..."
"He should have known that beings that use mana can’t reach beyond rank S inside the spirit realm that is filled with miasma to the brim..."
Miasma is so strong in this place that it suppressed every other ’law’ of ’reality’ itself, and it’s impossible to reach rank SS here unless you enter some separate pocket space of the spirit realm with lots of mana.
The usual spirit and divine spirits like Kai live in separate pockets of the spirit realm that have either not been affected by the sea of miasma as of yet or had been purified by Astra a thousand years ago.
"Yet he didn’t speak up for me... at one point of time... I actually used to hate him, but after spending a thousand year in this confined space..."
"All my anger and hatred have been lost to time... a thousand years can change a person by a lot..."
As Ellie spoke those words, she and Rio finally reached the base of the hill on which the giant door was located.
From up close, Rio could see hundreds of chains enchanted with powerful seals, wrapping and binding the entire giant door to the ground and the space-time fabric itself.
Some chains were literally tied to the space-time fabric itself; if not for the fact that Rio had amazing spatial fluctuation sensing ability, he might have mistaken those chains for just hanging in the air for some reason.
"This is some really powerful seal... I don’t think even I would be able to make a single dent on those chains even if I use my full power..."
"The purification magic radiating out of this seal is insanely powerful..."
"If someone weak touches them, they would instantly get their entire soul purified of all memories and their sea of consciousness would be obliterated instantly..."
There were stairs leading up the hill and toward the door. Ellie stepped forward as she led the way and spoke.
"That’s the main reason why I never dared to touch them in all the time I have been here... I am afraid I will become brain dead if I came in contact with the core of this powerful purification magic..."
"Astra... that ancient being was really a legend; her purification magic is still so powerful even after an entire millennium of corruption and miasmic interference..."
"I was too young back then or I would have liked to meet the old legends like King Allen and Astra..."
Rio noticed the powerful spatial fluctuations in the area and asked,
"Is this a good place to keep Liam’s soul?... Wouldn’t the purification magic and the powerful spatial fluctuations kill him?"
Hearing Rio’s question, Ellie smiled as she replied in a calm voice,
"The spatial fluctuation and the purification magic might be dangerous for weaker souls and weaker individuals..."
"But don’t forget that Liam is someone who’s got the legendary skill ’Mana Field.’ His skill is able to enhance him using the mana in the surroundings, and he’s got extreme control and efficiency over all mana..."
Looking at the giant door while climbing the stairs Ellie said,
"This giant seal emits immense amounts of mana and purification magic outward... I don’t know what its continuous energy source is but keeping Liam’s soul near this door is much more beneficial for him..."
The entire spirit realm is filled with miasma, and there is barely any mana inside; even the cage that Ellie lives in has only just a minute amount of mana in the air.
Most of the mana comes from being emitted by that grand seal and from the purification magic that keeps the miasma from outside at bay.
"The main reason I was able to live without food and water in this place for so long is because I use the mana emitted by that giant door as my energy source..."
Ellie was not like Rio, who was able to use miasma as his energy source; she needed a stable supply of mana to stay alive in this barren and cursed land.
Without mana, a dragon is not too different from any other ordinary monster or beast; only with mana are they capable of showing their true might.
"Trust me... this is the best place to keep Liam’s soul in the entire spirit realm; there no other place safer than this..."
As Ellie said those words, she and Rio both reached the top of the hill.
Rio wanted to ask something, but a very familiar voice entered his ears, interrupting him.
"Yes yes, trust her, Rio; she’s a great friend of yours after all. you should trust her words... I feel kind of jealous, though, that you aren’t agreeing to become my friend..."
On the massive hill stood a giant door bound in chains and seals that shone with a golden and greenish glow, and below that giant door were dozens of torch poles placed.
But most of those torch poles were lacking any lamp or torch above them, but on one of the torch poles was a soul floating and shining with a purplish aura.
Rio immediately understood that this was the soul that belonged to Liam, but the most shocking thing was that there was someone standing near the torch pole while leaning their back against the torch pole.
"Wha!? Who are you!? What are you doing near Liam’s soul!? Get away from there! That torch pole is a very fragile artifact meant for containing fragile energies!"
"Get away from it, or I will kill you right now!"
Ellie immediately lost her temper and shouted at the unknown stranger, but the other party seemed not to hear it at all.
"Yo! Rio... long time no see~"
